The Red Fox Steak House has always been a good standby for my wife and I. I would say the food is a cut above average and service is fair. At first glance you would think the place is a dive but it is a popular destination for locals and the working class. For the most part the food is very good. The steaks I have had there are done to perfection although the last sirloin I had there was over tenderized. I would try to cut it and it just shredded. And if you go there on a night they have the chicken and dumplings soup I highly recommend you get it. You will not be disappointed. The house salad is better than most places. It is not just lettuce dropped on a are with dressing but actually had croutons, baby carrots, tomato, red onions. An nice change. The Red Fox also has daily specials all one has to do stop by and check it out. All in all if you are looking for a decent steak house without the 5 star price? You won’t go wrong by choosing the Red Fox.

Good food but horrible service. Told ten minutes on food, it was thirty. Had to flag down waitress, no explanation or apology.

Locals only. But, a classic in Lincoln. Ask for a red beer!

My husband and I stopped in for dinner after a long day of travel. It’s a seat yourself kind of joint, and there’s nothing special or fancy about the place. It’s a steakhouse but don’t think«Outback» but rather roomy sports bar. There’s a main bar and then booth and table seating all over the place. I think I remember seeing pool tables in another part of the restaurant. There was also outdoor seating available. Patrons of all ages were there — including elderly. We sat inside and the waitress was prompt. She was friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. I ordered their steak salad which was topped with grilled Tri-tip(my favorite cut). The Tri-tip was out of this world as was the dressing that came with it. Otherwise, the rest of the salad was okay — looked like packaged shredded cheese(rather than the good stuff.) My husband had the 10oz Sirloin. He said it was delicious and cooked to perfection! The service from start to finish as excellent. We left her a 30% tip. The ambience was a little noisy but not overwhelming — at least not yet at 6pm on a Friday night. There’s tons of flat screen tv’s showing everything from news, weather, and mostly sports. The restaurant was clean and the ladies room was spotless. Sorry, can’t speak to the men’s room. With a 30% tip our bill was still under $ 40.

I’ve been here many times and the food has always been good and plentiful. The prices are also reasonable. Most recently I had the chicken fried chicken. It’s one of the best I’ve had around Lincoln!

Local well known for it’s specials at lunch and dinner, full service bar, very good prices for what you get, something for everyone no matter what walk of life, older establishment, still clean just not new and shiny, easy parking and easy access off I-80 when passing through Lincoln in in town visiting. I have dined here with customers on more than one occasion, always friendly staff and every item they have to offer is always prepared just the way you like it. Also Nebraska KENO now is available if you would like to gamble a little while waiting for your meal. Good casual small town feeling.

The place was alright. A step up from your typical pub. I had the pork chop, which was ginormous, but very lacking in taste. The price wasn’t too bad, I just wasn’t impressed by the food.

The front desk staff at my hotel in Lincoln, NE recommended I try the Red Fox for a burger and a beer. So, I thought I’d take him up on his suggestion. I walked in and was skeptical at first, as I saw that the place was pretty slow close to 10pm on a Thursday night. I sat up at the bar and got a menu. The burger selection was limited, but I figured I should try the Red Fox Specialty burger with a Boulevard beer. The burger was alright, the bacon was the highlight and the mushrooms were definitely an added bonus. The beef and the bun didn’t add anything special to the burger though. Oh, I did like that they offered cottage cheese as a side, I’ll take that over fries any day! The bar itself was actually nicer than I expected. They had a ton of TV’s which made it a great spot to watch the game or get your score updates. Some booths even had their own TV’s. I was initially going to give this spot 3 stars, but after the kitchen closed and I asked for a spot for dessert, a patron recommended a nice spot to try. It showed me a few things. 1) Lincoln is actually bigger than I thought(it has a University apparently), 2) The locals are really nice and friendly and 3) along the lines of nice — they sent me to another venue without hesitation. If I find myself in Lincoln again, I could see myself stopping back for a beer.

Let’s see here… Where do I begin? I’d probably give them a 2.5 star if I could but three is fair enough. My friends and I have eaten at Red Fox off and on for years now and here is my review. 1. The food: The food at Red Fox is decent, no more, and no less. I usually order off of the lunch special menu and typically am not disappointed. The portions served are spot on, and overall it’s usually some pretty tasty grub. There have been a few times when things have been either overcooked or the waitress has brought out something other than what I ordered but such is life. 2. The service: The service at Red Fox is hit and miss. Some times you’ll go and have a waitress that’s on point; making sure everything is right and is very attentive /friendly. Other times you’ll get one that just can’t be bothered with you; as if they’re doing you a favor by making sure you’re squared away. Some of the waitress’ are pretty cute, and some look like aging has-been vegas stripper wannabes :) All in all, alright. 3. Pricing: The pricing there is pretty good, about eight bucks and some change for a lunch and drink(soda).

The prime rib was over-cooked, cold, and way too thin of a cut. It was not very tender at all — I don’t know how you could screw prime rib up this bad. The baked potato had been sitting there forever because the bottom of it was hard as a rock. My veggies were also over-cooked and cold. They got the piece of toast right, it was perfectly crisp and buttery. I went ahead and paid my $ 20 for the piece of toast, and afterwards I gave my constructive criticism to the waitress, but she clearly didn’t care. They did absolutely nothing to rectify their inexcusable mistakes, so I will not be returning.

I like the big giant goblets of beer, but i find some of the bardtenders gals really B$@&chy and I hate that so I have chose not to go there more than once because of it. Food can be really good, but not consistent. Steaks are decent, got my side of veges once and they were raw. Have been there with kids early enough to be more than appropriate and have felt like I was penalized with seating for it as well as service which really pisses me off.

A rather friendly steakhouse/sports bar with a newly remodeled vibe. There was a good homestyle-type lunch special(around $ 5.99 or so for a lot of food), I had the mini-burgers which weren’t greasy sliders but mini-charcoal burgers and exactly what I expected from a good ol’ Nebraska steak joint. Some sweeties hanging out running the Keno too. NB: for my friends visiting from Zimbabwe, the luncheon special will cost you 363,636.35 New Zimbabwe Dollars(thanks ) 12÷12÷08 as of today that meal will now cost 2,425,766.65NZD. The most incredible hyperinflation I have ever seen.
