I stopped by because I have never been in and I love a good coffee spot(even though I’m not allowed coffee per my doctor). I came in today because I needed to get out of the house to work on a bit of writing. I ordered the caramel apple spice and chicken salad croissant. Weird combo I know. I initially stopped because it’s in my neighborhood but also because it overlooks the lake. The lake is beautiful on a cold fall day. The food and drink were both good. I didn’t like that there was only one outlet in the area that I was sitting. I saw another closer to the door near the couch but decided that I didn’t want to sit over there. There were quite a few people coming in and out while I was there and I’m happy that I came. I will next time make sure my laptop is fully charged and possibly come in the warmer time of year so that I can sit outside and use the lake as my backdrop for writing.

Last couple of times I’ve been there, I wasn’t thrilled about meal.(Been going to Starbucks instead lately so that says a lot.) Good coffee and nice to be on the water in land-locked GA but wish they would make better use of location — screened-in patio maybe?

A great place for a quiet cup of coffee and overlooking the lake. Interior décor is a little too distracting if eyeing around.

Two things: 1. I want to recognize the lady working this morning. She was so friendly and lovely to talk with. I was there a few minutes before the opening hours, but she was happy to serve me anyway. 2. The owner really should consider opening earlier. A lot, and I mean A LOT of traffic passes by there on 78 in the mornings headed into Atlanta(meaning you’re on the«right» side of the road), and you’re missing out on what I would imagine is a lot of business. I was really bummed/shocked this morning at a quarter til 9 when I realized y’all weren’t open, and almost turned around to leave. I thought maybe it was a mistake the open light wasn’t on, so I tried anyway, and I’m glad I did. I love supporting small local businesses(especially good ones!) and it would be unfortunate that a lot of folks are passing you by in the mornings and going to Starbucks instead, just because you aren’t open. Otherwise, like all others have said. great coffee and a great view!

I came here on a Friday afternoon. I felt like getting out of the house to read a book, and I remembered coming here when it was still a Starbucks so I thought I’d give it a try. I really came for the view of Lake Lucerne. I just had a standard iced coffee with sugar free caramel. The coffee tasted great. I would come back. There’s a $ 3.00 minimum if you want to use a card.

A few things stand out about Alcove Coffeehouse. Firstly, the location. Apart from 3 small windows in the main seating area, the beautiful surroundings of the lake really aren’t utilised. There may have been outdoor seating available but it was blocked off today, on a sunny summers day, mind you. The second thing, the real drawcard, is in the name. COFFEEhouse. Most of this review is going to centre around the fact that they don’t live up to their name, but let’s leave that until last. Service was average at best. One waitress trying to serve everyone(about 7 people) and at one stage she even went for a long walk outside, leaving the counter unattended with myself waiting to order. They don’t bring the drinks out to you, it’s more of a Starbucks call’n’collect deal. I would be okay with this if the environment/atmosphere and the coffee were passable. Unfortunately the eclectic(to put it nicely) smattering of décor and cluttered floor layout don’t exactly make for a pleasant environment. Feel free to use your laptop(except not at the 3 tables against the window), but if you need a power outlet you’ll be hard pressed to find an accessible one. Oh and you’re reminded that a $ 3/hour minimum spend is required to use the painstakingly slow wifi — plastered on glaringly obvious signs at the entrance. And just in case you think I’m one of those reviewers who takes a quick look, a latte sip and runs out, I spent $ 12 inc tip and had a ham/Swiss cheese croissant(which was warm at best) and stayed about 90 minutes. The cappuccino had no microfoam on top and the airy nothing-ness of foam was accompanied by a watery blend of capsule-like bitterness and if there was a completion for the best beans(batdorf & bronson, A for effort) with the worst results this cup would have won a gold medal. I felt bad due to the one lady behind the counter so I didn’t take it back, one sip was one sip too much for me. If you want terrible coffee, average food, less than impressive service and a lake nearby, come on over to Alcove, you’ll get what you expect!

Wanted a cup of coffee and to read the paper at 8:15 in the morning. Who would expect a coffee shop to not open until 9.

Coffee is delicious when it’s made under 30 minutes. Always takes the servers a while to get our orders together. But I do enjoy going early in the morning to look out at the lake and enjoy a cup when I’m not in a rush.

This is my favorite coffee shops outside the perimeter,(and one of the best I’ve been to overall in Atlanta in general). They use Batdorf and Bronson coffee, have amazing drinks(particularly the coffee, but other great drinks as well), and their food is good and reasonably priced unlike other coffee shops. They have so many food and drink options, and all are great! You truly cannot beat the view, whether you are outside on the patio or at a seat by the window. My favorite seat is on the far right side, next to the window. The only negative is — charge your computer before you come! There is maybe one outlet that I could see. This place is a hidden gem– it isn’t packed out to the max like a lot of other spots, so you feel like you can spread out and work on whatever you need to work on.

Dear Alcove Coffee, If you ever read this, know that you should NEVER reserve the table next to the only plug available in the whole freaking place. Don’t be idiots. Let other customers use it or install more plugs. Use the back office. You probably don’t get much business because of that plug issue. Just saying…

Often I visit Alcove Coffee when I feel the need to enter an altered state of unrivaled happiness and bliss rarely seen in this human 3-dimensional world we inhabit. I order their standard coffee when I visit because quite simply, I am not man enough to handle such an intoxicating and euphoria inducing elixir such as their Lattes or Teas. I’ve had a peak into the back and noticed that they milk only the finest Mugwumps to flavor their coffees. I’ve also discovered that the halflings that live below Alcove secretly stimulate the mating glands of the sea-monster that lives in the lake beside Alcove to derive from it the various sugars and cinnamon available to sprinkle atop your beverage. I highly recommend Alcove. So long as you can handle 3 straight days of glee-soaked caffeine hallucinations, they are for you. Go forth.

I’ve been coming to Alcove Coffee off Hwy 78 since they first opened. I actually used to frequent this location when it used to be a Starbucks. One day I wanted to get some coffee from Starbucks and came to discover that it was closed. A few weeks later, Alcove opened up and filled the void that is the lack of coffee shops along Hwy 78 in Lilburn-Snellville area. It’s a decent coffee shop that has grown a lot of the past few years since opening up. They offer a wide selection of desserts, snacks, coffees, smoothies, and teas. They have several milk options for those who do not drink regular milk or for those who simply like the flavor of alternative milks. The coffeehouse is always clean and so are the restrooms. The staff is also very friendly. The view of Lake Lucerne is breathtaking. Alcove Coffee also has an outdoor patio. Major disadvantage of Alcove Coffee is the lack of space. There is limited parking lot and the coffeehouse space is very limited as well. I wish they could expand the building!

First time here at the coffee shop and in this area. Wow! It’s interesting how a 25 minute drive from downtown Atlanta can open to such a different kind of coffee shop. This is quaint, quiet, and relaxing. The owner served my coffee and was gracious. The big open windows give way to a beautiful lake. I am a city guy, but this is a nice change.

The ambience inside and the plate glass windows make this an outstanding place to grab a coffee and chill! Got some mochas and a tea after stone mountain. The mochas where too syrupy for our tastes, but the chill atmosphere and view more than made up for it after a long day of walking.

I moved to the area a few months ago and have found a sad lack coffee/tea shops around Snellville besides a few Starbucks. As a writer(and avid chai-oholic) I regularly visit coffee shops as my «away office». I’ve been to Alcove Coffee a number of times now in the late morning. I’m impressed with the chai latte(very good), the lack of crowd and the fantastic view of the lake. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the free wifi has no issues. The lunches look fantastic but I have yet to try them.

Been coming here for several years! Another one of my favorite coffee shops. There is an amazing view of the lake. It’s also a good place to get amazing tasting organic coffee with many different options. Today I tried a «pumpkin pie sugar free» iced latte. Who knew Pumpkin Spice came in sugar-free? It tasted great! They have soy, almond milk options. They may even have rice milk. They have teas and smoothies also. They sometimes feature cool blended drinks. Once I had tried a «banana foster» which was awesome. They don’t have any outlets next to the tables by the windows, but they do have outlets in other places. Sometimes they have indie lounge music. If it is not too hot outside, it is nice to sit in their outside area and catch up next to the lake. Usually very quiet too so a good place to study or get some work done.

Please note, I am writing this review on Alcove Coffee’s catering. I have not yet visited the actual café. Alcove Coffee catered lunch for a nonprofit retreat. Something like fifteen individual lunches with chips and the whole shebang. And when we discovered that a last minute attendee had failed to order his lunch in advance, they went back to the shop and made one for him right then and there. They made the whole process easy. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them for their catering operation.

Great location and great staff! Only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star is because as a coffee lover, there aren’t many choices besides what you would find at a Starbucks. Given that, it’s still a place to try.
