Hong Kong Chop Suey

Will never return! I have been eating at this restaurant twice a week for the last 3 years, because of the wonderful food! Yes, it is a hole in the wall, and most friends will not join me there! So I eat on my own and have always tipped at least 20% or more, because I am a recurring customer, until a few months ago. I went in after lunch at around 4:00pm and ordered the Singapore noodles which I have had several times before. There were 4 people in the entire restaurant including myself!
Ester the waitress placed the so called noodles on my table and I could not believe what I saw! They were smashed and looked like cat food! However, I was hungry and dug in only to find it frozen in the middle. When I showed Ester that it was frozen she demanded I pay her while she took the plate away from me. The owner said I had to pay and could get nothing else. She also said «You Americans do not like curry», but your ordered it and now you pay! I told her I was British and love curry and that it was frozen. She yelled and said «I do not need you as a customer, you are one person»! I paid the full check out of fear of the owner screaming even more, and was deeply, deeply hurt that after being a good customer for 3 years I would be treated like garbage!
Communication breakdown!

Love this spot and would always take out from here but that has changed ever since my last visit. Rude cashier and wasn’t so helpful to clearing things. Be careful their low mein noodles are not what you expect!!! They are not the egg noddles. Wish I could explain what noodles they have instead but again, the cashier was no help. I got the chicken broccoli, good amount and quality of broccoli but the chicken was simply steamed and a pale white color. Use to love this place no idea what happened. Stick to the beef people.

Homemade egg rolls and sweet and sour sauce. They give your money’s worth on the portions. I always get take out but you are able to eat there but not exactly the most comfortable. They have good lunch specials and for the area the best Chinese food. My family loves the combination fried rice and orange chicken.

Will not be returning. Came back here for the second time. My dried beef chow fun was soooo greasy. Maybe i just lucked our with their singapore noodle on my previous visit. My order was so greasy to the point it gave me heartburn. Free egg roll for orders over $ 10 prior to tax, you dont have to ask for it, they will automatically give it to you. However you might just be better off without the egg roll, non palatible, the grease seeper through the egg roll bag. Used can mushroom in my chow fun, ew. I was skeptical about how fresh the beef was. A waste of money.

A fellow friend and myself were driving down Milwaukee in Libertyville trying to find a hole in the wall to try. After being extremely indecisive, we decided to finally stop and ended up here. We gave a look at the menu outside and decided to head in. Boy were we in for a surprise. The prices seemed pretty reasonable, but wait till you see portions. This is especially true it seems with their lunch menu.
For $ 5-​$ 6 you can get a completely FULL styrofoam container stuffed filled with fried rice and whatever entrée you decide to order. To top it off, they give you one of the biggest egg roll I have ever laid my eyes upon. Granted, this place is a bit on the greasy side (though according to their website they state they will cook to your preference if you ask), but I in terms of a great value this is it. The ingredients appear to be of above average quality, and you honestly can get about three meals out of one order.
Keep in mind this place is legitimately a hole in the wall and is take out only. If you were to eat here, you would need to keep the box anyway because if you were like my friend and I, you will barely put a dent into your food by the time you are full. The picture we posted was AFTER we had finished eating already to give you an idea!
So if you are in the area, please give this place a try. Your wallet (and stomach) will not forget it!
