Service is a little spotty, but the food is excellent. The building itself is relatively small with around 6 booths and 3 – 4 tables. Lots of carry out food went out while we were there too. I had the general Tso’s, it had no kick to it and was entirely too sweet, but the chicken was awesome. My husband had the Hunan combo, which was amazing. Both the soups we had, hot & sour soup and egg drop soup were delicious. The egg rolls are good and not vegetarian. Overall we will return and would recommend others to try it as well.

Decided to stop in because we don’t have a great Chinese place on north end. Pleasantly surprised. The hot tea was hot! Egg rolls were fresh and hot and best I’ve had in years. We shared General Tso was very tasty. Not very spicy. Not the cleanest place. Rating is 92. All 10 tables were full but they took care of us pretty quick. Service was good. Attentive. I’ll b

Stopped in to pick up some egg drop soup and rice. Only average! Usually they are spot on!

We were feeling spontaneous tonight and was driving by Chengs an decided to eat there. This was our first time and I have to say the food was okay and a little overpriced for the quantity. Service was very nice that’s why I gave 4 stars. We had the black pepper short ribs and chicken in scallion and ginger sauce. They were both off of the chef special menu which were more expensive than normal menu. The style is more like Cantonese Chinese food. The black paper short Ribs were good but at $ 15.95 I was expecting more, instead it came in with around 10 tiny pieces. I liked the chicken in Scallion and ginger sauce better, which was juicy and tender and delicious. We also had the hot jasmine tea to top off the dinner. Overall we had a nice time! If you like Cantonese style food with good service I would recommend this place!

Easily one of the best if not the best Chinese restaurants in Lexington and the service is spot on the staff is very appreciative and very attentive. The restaurant is not much too look at one the inside but don’t let that stop you from checking this place out you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve been to a lot of Chinese restaurants around Lexington. You haven’t had real general tso until you’ve been here. Love it!

Decided to try Cheng’s based on Unilocal reviews & it’s safe to say it lives up to them. My husband and I ordered combos for takeout. For less than $ 10 each we got an entrée(General Tso’s & Chicken and Broccoli — enough for leftovers), fried rice, egg roll, wonton soup & a fortune cookie. The quality and taste of the food was great and the employees were friendly when I picked up my order(there’s even a drive up window) We’ll definitely be back!

After moving here from the Boston area a few years ago, we’ve been looking for a good Chinese restaurant.(Panda Cuisine is very authentic, but too authentic for my wife.) I’ve seen Cheng’s reviews on Unilocal so when the wife was out of town, I decided to give it try. The ambiance is just a few levels about a take-out place(they actually have a drive-thru for picking up phone orders!). The menus also feel to be just one step above a take out menu. I started with the Hot and Sour soup which is one of my benchmarks. It was very nice. Probably the best I’ve had in Lexington. The fried noodles that came with the soup weren’t that good. Too much like pretzels if you ask me. I then got the Kung Pow beef as another benchmark. It was tasty with nice pieces of baby corn, celery, and water chestnuts. It was a good sized portion. I noticed there isn’t any tofu dishes on the menu. That seems strange to me. They don’t bring you chopsticks unless you ask(a nearby table with Asian customers had them, but I didn’t). Little did they know that I’m pretty good with them. I didn’t see any alcohol on the menu. Other reviews commented on how they are open late. Really? They closed at 9:30 on a Saturday night. They even turned off the«open» sign at 9:15. That isn’t late(even by Lexington standards). So, do I think it is authentic? Well by my Boston standards, it would just be average(maybe just below average) back there. However, for the other places in Lexington, I suppose it is above-average. Finally, I noticed they only had a 92 on the posted inspection sign. That is probably one of the lowest ratings I’ve seen in a restaurant.

Such good Chinese with great prices. The combination plates come with a main entrée with rice, soup, and eggroll all for around $ 8(depending on meat and time of day). You can also get a nice pot of tea for cheap as well :)

Visited on 6÷23÷15 for dinner. Cheng’s did not disappoint! Will certainly go back. Their lo mein noodles were delicious. The only thing preventing them from five stars is a small dining room and A/C that did not seem to be working on the evening we visited.

Can’t beat the lunch special at this place. I eat here often. As I be tried other Chinese, I’ve noticed they use paper products, or styrofoam. Eating in, you’ll eat off of real plates at Chengs. The food is quality. The vegetables, meet and sauces are great.

Great Cantonese-style Chinese food. We ordered Beef in Garlic Sauce and Roast Pork Lo Mein. The beef was tender, slightly sweet and sour, with just a touch of heat. The Lo Mein had layers of flavor enhancing the noodles. We enjoyed our meal. Good for families, reasonable prices(we spent $ 23 including tea for two), and fast, friendly service.

A friend corrected me when I said that there was no good Chinese food in Lexington and told me about Cheng’s. I went there for lunch and thought that the chicken with garlic sauce was good. So I took my son there for dinner. The wait was long, but the same good server that I had at lunch was apologetic. We ordered and waited and waited and waited, but all we got was tea when those seated after us were getting their appetizers and those seated at the same time were having their entrees. I’m not suggesting anything other than that they are badly understaffed. We had to walk out hungry. Too bad.

This place is great! Portions are very generous, and the waiter was really friendly and helpful. The steamed shrimp dumplings were outstanding, and the hot and sour soup was good, but pretty spicy. I had the General Tso’s chicken, and it was probably the best I’ve ever had. My wife got the orange shrimp, which was really good, but heavily breaded and a huge portion. Qualifier: both these entrees were fried and battered, but really good if you enjoy that sort of thing. We will definitely eat here again when we are in Lex.

Our favorite local Chinese restaurant. The servers are alway nice and helpful. The standard Chinese food is alway great with large portions. They also have a more traditional menu that is also very good. I know of only 2 places in Lexington that has traditional Chinese food. The Panda Cuisine and Here.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this place! My coworker and I came here to try the Chinese food and we really liked! They have the usual Americanized Chinese food, but they also have a separate Chinese menu(special dishes)! The Chinese menu has more authentic dishes like Chinese eggplants and seafood tofu, which we ordered. We also got some mixed vegetables. Their food portions are just right(not super large like more Chinese fast food type places), which we liked. They accept most credit cards, except American Express. Their service is good and it’s a small little restaurant with a giant budha when u walk in the door.

Today I arrived. 3 minutes before opening, I was immediately let in and serviced right at opening, food was very good as past times. Service was excellent. Drink refilled before empty. No complaints and the quality of the food is what brings me back.
