For its size, Lewisburg has a huge number of churches and hair salons. I would be indifferent in choosing which servant of God to offer me eternal salvation, but there is only one person I’ll let put scissors to my hair, namely Dan at University Hair Design. I realise many people are picky about their religion, justifying(in some minds) the need for all the churches, but the only justification for all these salons that I can think of is that they’ve all struggled to get a good trim and thought«I can do better than these places.» It took me several months before I found Dan, in which time I had two bowl cuts and other just mediocre efforts(one place I went to twice because the hairdresser was cute, but she was awful). Friends with good hair cuts told me they either went out of town(out of state, indeed) or to a then-recently-closed place on N. 3rd St. Eventually I found Dan, a chipper gentleman with a lovely sometimes-biting wit. Other than him there are several ladies there; usually when I am in someone is having a colouring and someone else a manicure or pedicure. Once Dan was ill and another of his stylists cut my hair; I won’t let that happen again. For $ 23(cut and blow dry) he does a fine job, my needs aren’t too fancy but apparently challenging enough to stump some hairdressers. I’ve had slightly better cuts and occasionally treat myself if I’m visiting a city where I know someone special, but for the most part I’m so happy to have a local that I trust. Most of my friends — both males and females — who care about their hair go to Dan(or out of state), and I can only recall one who came away disappointed. I can’t speak to the mani-/pedi– stuff, but for a hair cut in town, Dan’s the guy.
