The Tavern Burger is the best Burger in town. Beer is always cold. Friendly environment. Reasonable prices.

It’s nothing to write home about, or to talk about enthusiastically. The prices were great. The booze was cheap. It was an interesting place, very large!

The atmosphere is a loud and boisterous, but good times. The food was great and had a wide variety. The staff were super attentive and provided quick service. I

Stopped in with some friends for dinner about 7pm on a week night. The place was fairly busy but we were seated quickly. Very dark inside, and the floors slope and the tables and chairs rocked back and forth despite our efforts to level them with knapkins, etc. Service was great, the food was just so-so. Asked for my burger medium and it came out well done. The dried tomato salad dressing tasted like«Russian» dressing from a bottle. On the plus side, my house wine was pretty good and all the prices were reasonable.

This place sucks! We were there on 6÷12÷2015 sitting outside on the patio. We ordered our food, watched people come in after us and get their food before us. When we asked our server, who had a bad attitude and didn’t even ask us if we wanted refills on our drinks, he said our food would be another 20 minutes. We had already waited an hour and watched people who came in after us get their appetizers and dinners. It was probably this lazy waiter because the other girl who was waiting tables on the patio got all of her tables. This was not the only time we got terrible service. We were there a month ago and a waitress there was extremely rude. They were empty that day and I ordered a steak sandwich and it came with grizzle all over it, I couldn’t even eat it. I just thought it was a one time thing — but now I know better — I will NEVER go back to this place again. They obviously don’t care about their customer base. Terrible food and even worse wait staff. Don’t waist your time or money!!!

I kept hearing a coworker raving about the burgers here. I had a bacon cheeseburger and it was quite good. The fresh cut fries however had to have been cut ahead of time and frozen. They were dry. I worked at a stand at s carnival that had a fry cutter and they are pretty slick. It doesn’t take much to cut a bag of potatoes. That would be my recommendation.

Excellent burgers and crab cake sandwiches. Most underrated place in town. This is where towns people go and students alike. The prices are fair. No you will not find rosemary fries, but great hot fries, half the price and hand cut compared to bagged, frozen rosemary ones. Staff is always friendly.

Great selection of bottled beer and tap beer. Not your normal everyday commercial beers. I wanted to give more credit to the menu and pricing. They definitely can cook a burger but the dinner items are well prepared and priced too. Plus the in house made bleu cheese dressing is awesome. Seafood platter is under 20 bucks and good. Filet is only 20 too. Sandwich selection also good.

Consistently Terrible! My coworkers and I, who work at one of Union County’s largest employers, go to happy hour once a month. Last night was our 5th or 6th visit to the Town Tavern. EVERY time we go the service is terrible but last night was the final straw. I’ll never go back. I’ll highlight a few of our experiences. It starts with: the advertised special on the sign out front is only if you’re eating out back, Happy Hour is at the bar only not if you’re sitting next to it at a table, they only have half the beers on the beer list, and the ones they do have are going to be warm and come in a dirty glass. BUT the BEST, by far, of their shortcomings is that paying customers have to leave once trivia starts on Thursday nights. We had just ordered dinner and had full intentions of playing their free trivia game when they started to hassle us about the table we were sitting at. We had«too many people for trivia.» What was the big deal? Half of the people at our table were leaving before trivia started which was at least an hour away, leaving us with an acceptable number of participants. We had ordered and were waiting for our meals when our service came to a halt. Our waitress disappeared and the manager started making openly rude comments towards us. If he was an employee of mine and represented me or my business in the same manner we’d have a huge problem. We can’t be the first people who want to have dinner at their restaurant on a Thursday night. There are plenty of other restaurants in Lewisburg who’d be glad to have our business and they certainly will before I ever consider going back to the Town Tavern. Learn some manners guys!

Visited while in town on business on a Wednesday night so it was fairly slow and not a huge crowd in attendance. Barkeep was there in body and that’s about it. Not the most friendly but brought me my beer and left me alone which was fine since I was watching a ball game. I’d come back again and check it out on the weekend when the students are out and about. Good amount of beer selections(about a dozen on tap and 20+ more bottled), 6 TVs spread around the bar, seating for a group, decent spot to throw back some suds

On a Sunday evening in March at the end of spring break for Bucknell, this quiet inn in a quiet town seemed the only open restaurant in town. They had St. Patrick’s Day specials. My daughter loved the Shepard’s Pie, I found the corned beef and cabbage to be ordinary and the meat to be tough. The beer selection was remarkable though, and 55-oz flights for $ 12 seemed a good value. Service was competent, but one could picture the kitchen and wait-staff overwhelmed on a busy night. would not come back if there were other choices. On that evening, there were not.

I always go here when I visit my old neighborhood in Lewisburg, but honestly — it’s because of the lack of options. The Town Tavern has beer, not a great selection, and not super prices… but it does have beer. It’s far better when the college students are not around. I’ll still come here every time I’m in town.

Awesome beer selection. The bartender was very friendly, and excused me without getting pissed when I attempted to walk out front with my beer in hand. Worth stopping for in the area.

Completely disagree with previous reviewers. I was here on a Friday evening during baseball playoffs. I was ignored across the street so I came here and was served immediately even though the place was crowded. I discovered my new favorite microbrew on draft for less than 3 bucks. The food was standard bar food but it was done well. I saw multiple members of the waitstaff dig through the garbage to retrieve part of a kid’s braces that he accidentally threw away. If you are in the area give this place a shot.

Food is mediocre but if my waitress gives me a vibe that we are a hassle then I am 100% turned off, never again!

No one really tended to me when I walked in. I was told to sit by the bartender and the servers pretty much stared at me from the kitchen like as if they were not expecting diners. Food wasn’t very great. Basically I’ll only come here if everything else is closed. This place happens to be open during holidays and such.

I had to choose between this place and the Bull Run across the street. The BR smelled of stale beer so I opted for this. The atmosphere was really nice and cozy, with a fireplace. Service was OK too. Since I did not want a burger, I opted for a veggie quesadilla, but was very disappointed in it. I like mushrooms, but the ones they used were so pungeant that the flood of putrid smelling juice that came out when I bit in made me instantly spit it out. Gross. I don’t recommend this. So as a place for a burger, this is probably alright. And the beer was good. It was also wing night, so I had a half dozen, which tasted fine.

This place was terrible. Passing through town we were looking for someplace low-key to eat after hiking around all day. We walked into the Bull Run across the street first after seeing 4 douchey-looking college dudes walk into the Tavern(mean, I know). But after seeing what looked like a restaurant full of ex-Bucknell alumni reliving their college days over a crappy blue-plate /early-bird special we opted for doucebags. Walk into the TT and have a seat. Place is empty, and service is prompt. Young college guy walks up to our table and is super disassociated from everything. He’s like a zombie. We sense he hates his job and, more importantly at this moment, his life. He wants nothing to do with our 8 million questions or indecision. Having been in his shoes for years on end we let it go, but the server is a total drag after what was up to this point a great day. Anyway, the food was awful. We started with a cup of santa fe chicken soup which is so scorching hot you know it just came out of a microwave. No soup can get that hot if its not microwaved. For dinner I had the«Cajun shrimp»; my husband had a gyro. Both were disgusting. My «cajun shrimp» were large(which was a shocking plus) but they were swimming in a bowl of red water that I assume maybe had some old bay seasoning in there but they tasted like nothing. absolutely nothing. I got to pick 2 sides, which in coordinating with my husband we picked the«loaded baked potato» and the«mixed veggie.» LOL, i have to laugh just thinking about how nasty it was. The potato was big but it was a split baked potato with like, soggy baco-s under melted shredded cheese. not even real bacon and it was COLD. No sour cream, chives, nothing. soggy baco-s and melted shredded cheese. The«mixed veggie» were more like«mixed sponges» soaked in oily water. no taste, not hot, nasty. worse then wedding veggies(actually, worse then wedding FOOD!). Oh, my dinner also came with a side salad which was clearly out of a bag. Bagged salad = vomit. Even the dressing sucked, it was so sticky that you couldn’t get it out of the container — it was like jelly. Was supposed to get rolls but no rolls came, just a basket of pre-packaged crackers(which were for the soup). My husband got a gyro — the tzatiki sauce came on the side in a little ramikin(?) instead of on the sandwich. I guess it was lamb? you couldn’t tell. It looked like limp tongues hanging out the sandwich and the lettuce & tomato was smashed underneath the meat so it got all soggy and invisible. The only good thing about the entire meal were the onion rings but then again, you really really have to suck to mess up onion rings. Moral of the story, if you’ve got some kind of connection to this place then i guess i can see why you might go there. But if you’re passing through town I would HIGHLY suggest going elsewhere. In retrospect, the blue-plate early bird special crowd across the street had to have been better than this.

Amazing small town bar. Great bar-style food, good atmosphere, good prices, and a decent beer selection. Will also have live music on weekends quite often.

I came to this pub/restaurant for lunch on a Saturday while I was in town with some friends. Our waitress was amazing. We had called ahead to see if they’d put on a football game that our party was interested in watching and they happily obliged us. I ordered the crab cake sandwich(fried) and almost everyone else at my table ordered a hamburger of some sort. All our food came promptly and hot. All the burgers were cooked exactly how they specified and all nine of us walked out very happy. I hope I’ll be back here soon to see what the night crowd looks like. It seems like a fun place to chill on a beer.
