Order usually takes awhile for delivery which is a bit crazy but this last time we waited over 2 and half hours for an order for two people and eventually called to cancel it. We live 10 minutes from the place. If they had said when we ordered they were backed up on deliveries I would have picked it up. Done ordering from here.

I work nearby and decided to try out Hong Kong Pearl on three occasions for check out.
This place is better than your typical Double Dragon strip mall eateries but not by much. Experience 1: Enter at 11:10. They inform me there is no rice ready and it will take 20 – 30 mins. Lave Experience 2: Call ahead for cashew chicken with white rice. Food is ready on time but rice is dry as can be. Experience 3: Call ahead for cashew chicken and white rice. Pickup and head back to my office. Find out I was given fried rice, some chicken, a few cashews and some other meat(pork maybe?). Never visiting again. Price point was good and but not worth the low quality.

Normally the food is average… and you always have to ask for more than one duck sauce for take out. Tonight it was very busy for take out… their system is very unorganized… i waited in line For 15 mins to give my order than 30 more mins for my food… tonight it wasnt even average… more like tastless… and only one soy packet… ugh…i dont think i will be back.

I’m going to give this place two stars but only because of the service and the attitudes. The food IS great but it’s almost not worth it when you’re being treated like dirt. I go there and it’s slow. I call and order take out and the guy is so rude on the phone. He was rushing me like crazy. This is a customer service business. Please be nicer to your patrons.

I was a fan of the food but the service was so bad last night that I had to ding them with a one star. I was not hungry so ordered the pan fried pork dumpling(very good) about $ 7.00 and asked the waiter for a side of veggies. He questioned me a bit and said he did not have that but would put something together for me. He brought out a large plate of broccoli, green peppers, and green beans. I was surprised and told him I was looking for a small side of veggies, not the big plate. He said that was all they had; the smallest. So I thought no big deal, until the bill came and he charged be $ 12 for it. He did not drop off the check nor pick it up. He roamed around me table and did not stop or ask or give a sht. So I left no tip and made a note to self not to go back. Could I have asked for the manger, explained and argued, sure, but it was the end of a long day to a long week and I had no energy left. I used to like this place and went there whenever I was in the area, but now I’ll find a place that gives sht. If you do go, order the sesame Shrimp. Very good.

I was visiting from out of town and I guess I have a higher sense of taste then the locals but to me the food was mediocre at best. They say they offer delivery but wouldn’t deliver even though I was less than 5 miles away. So I drove the 4.26 miles to go pick it up. I got vegi lo mein & general tso’s chicken, which was supposed to come with a egg roll and pork fried rice; I asked for w. rice instead which they obliged. They ended up charging me for the egg roll and the general tso tasted like orange chicken with a couple of dried peppers on top. The lo mein tasted like it came from any run of the mill Chinese restaurant. For the price, the amount of food and attitude/service, I wish I would of gotten taco bell instead. I would categorize this into, I might consider eating here again if someone else paid for it and I really wanted Chinese food because I haven’t had it in like 3 months.

So disappointing. Can I give this place negative 5 stars? We heard so many good things about this place and my wife had eaten here as a young adult; we decided to give this a try. What a mistake this turned out to be. I believe the man that took our order was the owner; he had no grace what so ever. we ordered general tso and spicy chicken. The spicy chicken was fair, but the general tso was hideous. The general tso was fried fat sans the meat(without the meat). Our appetizer(veg spring rolls) arrived nearly half way through our entrée and tasted like fish. Top it off, the owners children were eating Mcdonalds at the table across from me, I don’t eat fast food, but I know I would have gotten a better meal a McDonlads.

Take out was pretty good! I liked the sweet smokiness of the gen tso chicken and the house fried rice was excellent except I asked for no onions and it was LOADED with onions. The mooshu beef needed more meat. Will probably order again even though chinese food is a rare treat.

I know that Hong Kong Pearl is known for having some of the best General TSOs but I decided to go a different route and try the Kung Pao Special last night. This dish had beef, pork, chicken and shrimp with a mix of Chinese vegetables and some spice. For the price of $ 15 I would get this again. With the mix of white rice provided with the meal this was plenty of food for two. I ordered ahead and picked up for take out.

Haha… i laugh at the reviews that states how well and tasty this place is… you want real chinese food, come to NY. After reading all the reviews, I’d figure to give this place a shot, since I wasn’t craving anything else within the complex. Got chicken with broccoli with garlic sauce, asked it to be extra spicy. Ughh, the only thing it got itself going was that it was just made fresh n hot. However, it was nowhere near the level of spicy I had asked for and it tasted more sweet brown sauce. Very disappointing dish. Oh and the so called peas that everyone keep raving about, give me a break, that’s just for color to add contrast to your rice. The lady at counter was nice that’s one extra star. Other than that. I’ll just get chinese food in NY before heading to Sesame. Now have to try another restaurant within the complex

The BEST Chinese food ever. Beats any other place I’ve ever eaten and if I could, would never go to another Chinese food restaurant again. I order take out often and they have NEVER gotten an order wrong. That’s impressive! Their Garlic Beef is the best thing on the menu, but so many other items are a close second!

FORFOOD, FORVALUE… THEBESTCHINESERESTAURANT!!! To those ridiculously«astute gourmands» with«impeccable provenance», nit-picking and de-boning HONGKONGPEARL as if you’re in some overpriced, high-style«Top Chef» style place with $ 14 eggrolls… YOU’RENOT… and .may I suggest instead of writing a bad review, spend the time it took you to complain about your $ 15 bill and GOSOMEWHEREELSE? At Hong Kong Pearl, do NOT expect interior design out-the-rear-end, so let’s get something straight… the place is EXACTLY like you’d expect a 1980s strip mall Chinese restaurant to look like: enormous Swarovski(style) chandeliers, huge colorful shell art a’la chinatown discount store, giant mirrors, and I’ll bet the«pavilion roof» over the takeout window has been hand-sculpted of fiberglass and secured with an electric staplegun… News Flash: WHOCARES? We’re talking GREATFOOD, ANDLOTSOFIT, at SMALLPRICES. I have been here dozens and dozens and yes, DOZENS of times, and maybe ONCE out of those dozens I had what I’d call a «fair» dinner. YES, THEFOODISTHATGOOD, AND I HAVEBEENTOALLOFTHEOTHERS. EVERYDAMNTIME I order something, the food arrives quickly, HOT, and it REALLYISGOOD. The fried pork dumplings… they are SOUNBELIEVABLYGOOD I would drive hours just to have them. I literally CRAVE them. ARRGH, get them a little crispy, browned on the tops. Not sure how they make them so good,…who knows… nor do I care… they are JUSTHEAVEN… the best I have had anywhere. I COULDEATTHEMRIGHTNOW! The service is usually EXCELLENT, so what if the waiter talks fast and seems abrupt? I guarantee you will get exactly what you want within minutes. Their kitchen, at any given time, has 8 to 10 people, all busy doing something, and usually a take-out line out the door. Plus waiters and others refill your water, or will get you anything within a minute YES the peas in the pork fried rice are probably frozen. What did you expect, legumes imported from Shanghai and flown in weekly on a private plane? SERIOUSLY?! Try the General Tso’s chicken, DE-FREAKING-LISH Try the Chicken Chow Mein, it is deliciously bland and FRESH, just the way it should be. Try everything! I am sure you will like it. I LOVE this place, and will ALWAYS go back!

I love this place. It is my favorite Chinese food place in the area. I recommend the hot and sour soup, the general’s chicken, chicken with garlic sauce, and the scallion pancakes. It may seem a little pricier than normal, but even with a combination special, you get enough for two meals. The service is prompt and attentive if you want a sit down dinner.

This place has a line out the door on a weekend night. Legit. We call about 45 minutes to an hour before hand if we are picking up, and still have to wait in a line to get to the food. We generally pick up from this place rather than eat in. Eating in is ok, but the place has a bit of a… sticky feel to it. Everyone I know loves this place for the freshness and fair portions. As far as the chow-mein/lo-mein…I’ve had better, but if you are getting a not so healthy dish… yum. I high heartily recommend that General Tsos Shrimp. WORDOFTHEWISE: Their Spring Rolls are NOT vegetarians. There is definitely chicken in them.

Been going to Hong Kong Pearl for years. It was always delicious, service was always surly & you got what you expected. Little by little the service has become more indifferent & the food is now so-so. We are losing all the good Chinese restaurants in the area. Disappointing.

I have been here twice. My husband ordered the sweet and sour chicken which he says is really good as was the pork fried rice. We also ordered the chicken fried rice which was pretty good as well. The only thing I ordered that I didn’t like was the chicken on a stick. I agree with the other posters about the ambiance and cleanliness. It need some serious work. When you go to pick up food to go you can see in the kitchen. It is very crowded with stuff and people. Not exactly clean either. Not sure I feel comfortable eating again now that I have seen the kitchen.

Hong Kong Pearl is a mixed bag. The facility is dark and dreary at high noon, giving the sensation of being in a 1940’s movie. Yet, the service is prompt and attentive, somewhat anomalous for a Chinese house. The main courses are well prepared, with some attention to detail, but it takes a few shortcuts that diminish the overall quality of the meal. The broth for the Wonton Soup is chokingly salty and a brownish tint that suggests use of bouillon with prepackaged salt, dye and possibly MSG to cut costs. In a similar manner, the Fried Rice arrives artificially colored a dark tawny cast from its mass production earlier in the day. Both soup and rice are vastly inferior to the prime attraction, but as they are served with practically every meal, the overall result is «mixed.» On the other hand, the General Tso’s Chicken was quite good in the context of a suburban Americanized Chinese shop. It used chicken that had not been frozen long, if at all, a pleasant coating, and a sauce that used correct spices to attain the right sweet/hot spot that makes for a happy General. It even had whole chili peppers in the dish. That was a big positive. While I would not rush back to Hong Kong Pearl, it was certainly a decent place for lunch. If they would eliminate the problems with the soup and rice, and attempt to make them the right way — with a long simmering stock and just in time fried rice, it could be an exceptional experience for this part of the world.

Within past month, we’ve eaten here twice and each time one of my party have experienced diarrhea the following day. The food tasted fine but we’re not in any hurry to go back. Service is slipping and food becoming average from what once was excellent. They have plenty of business especially on the weekends, but the downward slide has begun. The Pearl is turning into a clam!

I love the food here, and my rating is low due to the rest of my experience. First off, we brought a bottle of wine in with us. I was shocked that this place could serve us. I guess I ever though of Chinese food restaurant as a BYOB. The food was as expected, some of the best in the area. The spring rolls were filled with Chicken and Shrimp… Delish!!! My dad ordered the pepper steak, he recommends that. The Dragon special and the mushu chicken are also good. So why the mediocre review? The ambiance, cleanliness, and the staff. The staff was typical of a Chinese restaurant. We asked for a glass of ice 3 times before we actually got it. Throuhhout dinner there was an annoying beeping sound(perhaps the fire alarm or alarm system) that kept going off, it bothered my ears and no one seemed to silence it. Finally, in addressing the cleanliness, it was disgusting. I went to use the ladies room and there was dirt all over the walls. It made me think what condition the kitchen was in.
