Riehl“s Quilts and Crafts shop is located on their beautifully landscaped well maintained farm adjacent to the main house. The quilts were the items that caught my eye, the colors, patterns and overall execution was simply beautiful! They are not inexpensive ranging from $ 400 upwards of $ 600 but easily justifiable as a piece of Amish Art rather than a utilitarian bed cover. Each piece is handcrafted by a consortium local Amish farm families and sold in the shop to the ubiquitous tourist trade that frequents the area. There are blankets, quilts, pillows, dolls, pot holders, place-mats, napkins, throws and the like, this is a store you don’t want to miss when you travel to Amish Country.

Clean. Nice folk. Gas lighting was interesting. It was nice to look at the crafted and quilts. You can walk around and see the animals: mules, cows, horses.

I have visited here a few times now. While they do have some really nice quilts, it seems they are a bit more expensive here than in another near by shops. A lot of the other handmade items like the pillows never seem to change. I have bought a few here, but now they seem to have no new patterns. Most of the people working there are friendly unless a tour bus comes than all of a sudden you feel invisible. They definitely cater to the tour groups. Guess that is where they make all their money. It has just become to big and commercialized for me. I prefer a smaller shop with a more welcoming feeling and where you do not feel like you are in an Amish megastore.
