We stopped into this gallery on a whim this past Sunday while wandering around Leesburg. Originally we were drawn in by the beautiful unique natural wood tables displayed in the shop. As we wandered through the store we noticed not only the tables, but unique pottery, art and jewelry, many pieces created by local artists which is always a bonus in my opinion. We had been looking for the right piece to display on our round coffee table in our family room, but just hadn’t found it yet. However, as we were walking out of the store, I noticed a large piece of pottery with the right color palate that I thought would work perfectly. My husband agreed. I was a little leery of checking out the prices as some pieces in the store were quite expensive, but the piece we liked we considered to be of a reasonable price. The lovely woman working there that day was so helpful and friendly. Sometimes when you wander into galleries just to browse, the staff can be somewhat aloof, but not the case here at all. She wrapped up our piece and even offered to hold it for us if we wanted to wander around town a bit longer. Great customer service and wonderful gallery. Will stop in again when in Leesburg!

I took oil painting classes at the Cooley Gallery with Jennifer Baxter, and what an experience it was! As a beginner I came prepared and eager to learn, but what I got out of my classes was more than I anticipated. First off, I came in with no experience with oil painting at all. From the very first session we learned technique, but Jennifer also teaches allowing everyone to express their individual style. After the second class we had completed a beautiful art piece which I was more than proud to show to my family and friends. I impressed myself and everyone was astonished at what I had created! Our final project was an individual piece that we personally selected. The project I chose was very complex and difficult. Jennifer was delighted about the piece because she was able to show me the different techniques to recreate it. After our final session I left wanting to learn more and more. The classes were a total of 6 sessions, and in those 6 sessions I went home with several paintings that I was more than proud of. I plan to take classes with her at The Cooley Galley in the future. As of now I am continuing to use my oil paints and have since made several paintings that I really love. I definitely recommend taking classes to everyone no matter what level you are at. I had a wonderful experience and I am looking forward to taking classes with her in the future.,

Well, now! As we all know, Chris Cooley is a football player for The Washington Redskins. As we all SHOULD know, he is an untalented artist and would never be able to sell a single mug if that first statement were not the case. LUCKILY, there are some other artists who sell their items at this gallery, and some are very good! It’s worth checking out. If you’re just stopping in to meet the Coolster himself, it’s probably better you stayed at home. I’ve been in several times(even on First Fridays) and he’s nowhere to be found. Not that I’m really that interested in meeting the guy.

I don’t live in Loudoun Cty but found out about this local gallery through a Friends of Homeless Animals Fundraiser that Chris Cooley hosts. It was a free fundraiser where Cooley and other artists make and paint dog bowls. The money raised goes to FOHA. Chris adopted his dogs from FOHA. The studio is right on King Street, parking outside on the street or a nearby garage. There are lots of pieces of art and other Redskins memorabilia for sale. I had a chance to speak with Chris, he’s a very nice person. And, because he is a rescue person, he’s A-1 in my book!

Great little surprise in downtown Leesburg. A portion of the art is by Cooley himself, but most is by other artists. Some really nice stuff. Hail.
