We never miss«Books» on our trips to Leesburg. A small place stuffed to the rafters with(of course) books, there is something here for everyone. Friendly, knowledgeable owner will make you forget Amazon… this store is a must for anyone who loves books, the book-buying experience, or would just like to spend some time meandering through literary history, one room at a time.

Unilocal 365 Challenge x 2 #280/365 Unilocal 100 Review Challenge #25/100 When I first saw the pictures on Unilocal of Books and Other Found Things, it was my mission on the first weekend to check out this little store located in the historic part of Leesburg. The first thing I noticed was the welcome sign, «Aloha! Come in!» I thought it must be a Hawaiian theme for the day as I walked into the little store, which is actually a house. I fell in love-I want my house to look like this store! It exudes the warmth of immediately feeling at home and relaxing you. The books filled the shelves and the displays was a perfect touch to the ambiance of the the bookshop. The owner, Allen was so nice and welcoming. This store is better than any book store I’ve been to. In fact, if you ever seen the movie, «You’ve got mail» with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks? This bookshop reminds you of that store(Little Shop around the Corner) in that movie. Anyhow, if you’re looking for a book that you think may be out of print or just wondering if you will find your favorite childhood books, you just may find it here. I found that he had the original books of Laura Ingalls Wilder! As I was oohing and aahing, my ears all of sudden perked up as the Hawaiian music of Hapa filled the bookshop. I paused and looked around. Sure enough, the CD was on display to show what was being played. I shared with the owner it’s so interesting that the music comes on when I’m at the store sharing that I’m visiting from Hawaii. First, the welcoming sign and now Hawaiian music! While I’m still thinking that it was a Hawaiian theme for that day, he smiled big and shared that he was born and raised on Oahu… Kaneohe/Kailua side to be exact! That’s when I looked closer at his appearance, he was in aloha casual. Aloha shirt, jeans and barefoot that reminded you of the movie, «The Descendants». We chatted for awhile about Hawaii until another customer came in, which gave me the chance to look around. I found the original version of Maya Angelou’s book, «I know why the caged bird sings». And guess what… it was so reasonably priced that it borders on cheap. I take that back, it was a cheap price. I love this store and not just because the owner was born and raised in Hawaii but it’s that type of store that you can just stay in there all day because it’s just so welcoming! For parents, grandparents, aunties, or uncles-there’s a children’s area where you can sit and read with your kids. There’s other handmade items that are on sale too. Here it was only the first weekend I was away from home yet I was missing Hawaii and I was missing my family. Enters in the little bookshop in the historic part of Leesburg showing me no matter where you travel, you’ll end up meeting someone that will say, «Hey! I’m from Hawaii too! Or I visited Hawaii!» Love it! Prices: reasonable Customer Service: friendly and personable Location: perfect in the heart of Leesburg Recommend: yes, yes, yes

A lovely little store in an old home in downtown Leesburg. While not an extensive collection, it was of good quality and the store itself is inviting and warm, like the home of an eclectic collector.

I LOVE this little hole in the Leesburg wall :) Packed to the gills with tons of books and knick knacks. The owner is warm, caring and very friendly. I told him my son was/is a dinosaur fanatic and he helped me find some wonderful dinosaur books which, at the time, I couldn’t buy because I was short on $$. The owner held the books for me and when I couldn’t make it in time by our agreed-upon date, he sent me a friendly text message asking if he should continue holding the books(vs. automatically putting the books back on the shelf). This was such a kind, thoughtful gesture and I truly did appreciate very much. I eventually made it there and bought about 7 – 10 dinosaur books to my son’s absolute delight. The atmosphere here is warm and fuzzy and you can just peruse the shelves comfortably and for hours with so many great books at every turn. Great spot for local book lovers. An absolute pit stop when you are shopping in Leesburg.
