Love the food! They use to have excellent service, NOW– not so good. I had to beg for service one visit. On another visit I didn’t even see the server once served. I had to request for more water and the bill! What happened L. H?

Eh-It’s okay. The thing about these kinds of steak houses is they are trying to hit a price point. So the quality isn’t amazing, they aren’t setting standards, and not blowing your mind. So the only way they are going to separate themselves in the market is by having amazing service. I’m neutral on the service, neither bad or amazing. It’s just an average place. So all things considered, it’s not a bad choice.

LongHorn is pretty good, especially at lunch. We were there during the holiday season, which makes this shopping center a little annoying to navigate, even though the restaurant is on the outer edge. They were not very busy for lunch. We had a nice waitress and decided on ordering lunch combos that came with sandwich and soup, we assumed it’d be half sandwiches. When the food came out, I had a huge two part half sandwich, and mom had a whole burger, which we assumed were just a very generous portion. I had ordered au jus to go with my prime rib sandwich. She was a bit slow bringing it out after the food, which was a tad bit annoying. The food was good. I’m not sure I’d get the prime rib sandwich again, but mostly because of the bread. Fast forward to the check arriving. We’d ordered these lunch combos, very specifically, even pointing to the combos on the menu as we ordered. They were like $ 7 and $ 8 or so. The check comes out and it’s like $ 40 and then the waitress disappears. Finally I flag her down and say, you know we ordered meals that should have been about half of this price. Well, turns out she punched the order in wrong as full meals instead of the combos. She was quick to correct the mistake without argument, but just be cautious when you pay out to make sure they charge you correctly.

Love the 7-pepper sirloin salad. Good with blue cheese dressing. Talked with manager about the art work on the East wall: 19 mounted Cowboys in silouivte. He told me the backstory: the owner was visiting a cattle ranch out west at dusk when a group of Cowboys appeared in a long line. When he returned to KC, he found an artist to recreate this memory. This now appears in all the Longhorn restaurants. Nicely done.

Not bad for corporate steakhouse. I had the ribeye, it was very good. Seating at the bar can get crazy because they also take care of the high top tables and the to-go folks. The place was on a wait list for a Wednesday night. My only concern was the temperature was set too low. It got down to 68 by the time I was ready to leave.

Honestly, I usually overlook any chain steakhouse, but we went for a 93 year old’s birthday dinner and I was pleasantly surprised. The steak was cooked just how I wanted it and had good flavor. Our entire table had excellent service(something that is less common anymore). The restaurant was clean and we had a great time. He was brought a big dish of ice cream and we got the entire restaurant to sing and clap for him. It was a great time

It is always amazing to me that the bar and that bartender set so much of the tone for an entire restaurant. This is my love hate relationship restaurant. Some days it is off the charts great service, super clean and efficient. Others it is slow with dirty glasses waiting to be cleaned, places at the bar waiting to be wiped down. Now I don’t know if it is a mind meld that service effects how the food taste but it sure seems to. Service is great the food is great, service is questionable the food is also. Trust me I understand busy and the ebb and flow of business. It is when there are three customers in the bar and one is waiting for a take out order and the other is with me that I ponder where is the that amazing person who waited on us last time that had no problem keeping up with ten people as well as the restaurant service and kept the place clean. That person is asking me if I am ready for a second beer and the other person hasn’t even waited on me yet. What I do now is walk in see how the bar looks and if it is clean and the bartender is hopping to take care of you I stay and life is good. If the bartender is struggling to keep up with even light duty I leave and head somewhere else. See love, hate.

My fiancée and I visited this particular restaurant with a craving for steak. Didn’t take too long to get us seated and get our orders in. I got my usual KC Strip, medium. My fiancée went for the filet. The meat was quite tasty, but I seem to have such bad luck with my cuts. I get the KC strip to cut off the fat around the edge and enjoy the tasty meat. This particular piece was about half fat and when I cut into the meat, there was a long strip of silver skin running through it. I didn’t complain because I ate all I could and just dealt with it. The server noticed and asked me about it. I showed him the silver skin. The manager came by and offered me a discount. The food was solid, but I’m still on the look out for a good steak in the KC area.

Service was good. Steak was awesome. I arrived at a busy time on a Saturday evening. I was greeted by a friendly hostess. I was told that my wait would be 15 – 20 minutes and and got a buzz from my pager in like five(nice surprise). The restaurant was nicely decorated and the restrooms were very clean. I enjoyed a slice of the fresh bread and a soda while I waited for the appetizer to arrive. The Grilled White Cheddar Stuffed Mushrooms caps were positively addictive. I ordered the fire-grilled, bone-in Outlaw Ribeye cooked to a perfect medium temperature. The steak practically ate it’s self. lol So so very tender and seasoned amazingly with the 7-pepper seasoning. It came with a delicious loaded baked potato that I couldn’t finish. It was either the ribeye or the baked potato. lol Needless to say I left very full and happy with my dining experience. I shall return…
