Tom’s Blue Moon Bar-B-Que

I stopped in after getting the Groupon for $ 20 for $ 12. There chicken is second to none. Not exaggerating they have the best smoked chicken and wings I have ever eaten. I have been to the Jack Daniels BBQ world championship and they still are the best. If you can make a trip for this BBQ joint I would highly recommend. Friendly staff and good food all around.

Delicious! I had brisket, pork, and ribs with broccoli casserole and fried okra. Topped it off with banana pudding and iced tea. Not quite sure about the cornbread. it was a bit of a pancake, but it was made fresh on order. The ribs were just a tiny bit dry but the sassy sauce took quick care of that. The ribs pulled clean from the bone. The sauce tastes molasses-​based and was a real yummy surprise! I have enough left for at least one more meal if not more. Worlds better than Jack’s BBQ, as good or better than Peg Leg Porker, and well worth the drive to Lebanon. Too full, my stomach hurts :(
By the time we left, the line was out the door. The food was fresh and delicious and we will be back.

Food was cold. Selection of meats were few. No music on Saturday night, as website says there would be.

We ate in the restaurant twice and the food was ok at best. Twice we stopped by to get bbq to go. Big mistake. When we got home the bbq on top was fresh but the meat under was hard and dry like it had been on the serving line all day. Take a chance if you want to. One star only because you must have to have at least one.

My fiancé and I went here last night after buying a Groupon. We were very disappointed. When we walked up to the line to order, we saw a slab of questionable brisket basking in the light of a heat lamp. I had a brisket sandwich and it was really tough. The bun was also pretty stale. My fiancé had the pulled pork nachos, and they were also subpar. The service also left a lot to be desired. We ordered fried green tomatoes and when the guy brought them out, he set the greasy little tomato friends on our table without a word and walked off. The Mac and cheese was decent, however, but the sweet potato waffle fries, which I was pretty excited about, were about equivalent to something you’d get at a bowling alley. Overall, it wasn’t a good experience, and in the future we’ll just be driving a little further to have some actual decent BBQ.

Nasty ketchup, mustard, salt and pepper containers. The dried mustard in the holes look like they were there since opening day. The inside of the condiment holder is also filthy. There were no straws. I ordered the turkey, almost choked it was so dry. Brisket and ribs. All fat. There was only one flavor of sauce, sweet and sassy. The green beans and collard greens tasted like they were heated directly from the can. Not worth the money, I would not eat there even if it were free.

Ate there again tonight, and Awesome Once Again!!! Tonight was Live Music with two great guys who really had some voices. Had the Sausage, Potato Salad, Coleslaw, with their homemade cornbread. Oh that cornbread is so great! Add some of their Homemade Sweet BBQ sauce and you can’t go wrong.
This BBQ Joint is Soooooo Underrated!!!

We want came here for lunch with my family of 5-​husband, 7yo, 4yo and 1 yo. I had the brisket, broccoli casserole and fried green tomatoes. My husband the jay boy which is HUGE! The meat provided with the Jay boy is enough for two people with average appetites and the 2 sides portions is enough for 4 people. Mine was average or a normal portion size. The food is slow to serve b/​c there’s just one person serving buffet style and b/​c the fried okra, fries and tomatoes were prepared for us so there was a wait to serve them. The brisket was excellent and staff courteous. We bought a Unilocal deal, $ 20 for $ 40 worth of food which was great b/​c we left with a lot of leftovers. Everything was delicious and the place clean and comfortable. We would go again.

Although I arrived at Tom’s just a few minutes past 11:00am, there was surprisingly only one other table of customers inside. I realize this might be a tad early for some folks, but I assume they don’t just open up at 10:30am for the fun of it. Customers or not, Tom’s has a lively and inviting atmosphere.
The prospect of four meats was tempting, but I decided on a three-​meat plate of brisket, pulled pork, and ribs (for which I gladly paid an extra dollar), with potato salad and fried green tomatoes as my sides. Given the name of this joint, it also seemed quite appropriate to add on a bottle of Blue Moon, even if it was technically still morning.
The tomatoes came out piping hot, but I didn’t see anyone battering them, so I’m guessing that they started out in the freezer. Their uniformity and general lack of flavor suggested that my assumption was correct. Thankfully, the potato salad was miles better. It tasted like a mustard/​mayo combination, which lent both a zesty acidity and a good sweetness.
My first few bites of the pulled pork were a little dry and a little bland. I did find some rosy pieces of bark, and they were much tastier. That aside, the pork had only a mild smokiness at best. It wasn’t all bad, but could have used more seasoning and more time in the smoker.
I had watched my piece of brisket being cut, and the sight was enough to make my mouth water. This fatty cut had plenty of bark to go around. Unfortunately, there was only a slight hint of smoke, and not even the fattier portions seem to have soaked up much of it. The beef was rather tender, so I suppose that’s something.
To be honest, the ribs looked pretty gnarly on my plate. I’ve been pleasantly surprised before, so I didn’t let their appearance stop me. Sadly, both the crust and the rib meat were tough to chew. I had hoped that these ribs would have more flavor than my first two meats, but even a little more salt would have helped tremendously.
I really wanted to like Tom’s Blue Moon Bar-​B-​Que, and considering all of the glowing reviews online, I figured that I would. Tom’s has a lot of potential to create some really spectacular barbecue, but they’re not quite there yet.

So good, we went there twice in one day! The fall-​off-​the-​bone ribs, moist pulled pork, tasty brisket and extremely cheesy mac-​n-​cheese were delicious!
## Banana Pudding ##
The banana pudding deserves to be named in it’s own category, it was off the chart, DELICIOUS! My husband couldn’t stop talking about it after we left the first time and really is the main reason we went back the same day. I do wish they added more waffers, but hey, still the best we have ever had.
##Excellent Customer Service
Both times we had excellent service even though seperate crews served us. Polite and friendly.
## Seating
Seating is open floor. You go through the line to order and then sit where you please. Very interesting décor with hanging bikes, license plates every where and knick knacks. Hard seats, bench like tables and paper towel kind of environment.
## Dislikes
-«Corn Bread», never had corn bread like that. I’m not from Tennessee, so not sure if it is a Tennessee thing but it was more like a pancake to me. Didn’t like it.
–Potato Salad, not horrible. I’m sure some people would like it, just not my cup of tea.

Won’t be going here again. EVER!
The environment was awful, flies everywhere! No one greeted us or told us what to do when we walked in and not friendly. The catfish was awful, tasted bad and seemed fake.
Probably would have been ok if the catfish seemed fresh or not like imitation catfish and if there weren’t flies swarming around us!
Called and complained but they didn’t seem to care

My coworker walked in with a plate from Tom’s, and it honestly smelled really good! I placed a to-​go order over the phone. The guy seemed like he was in a rush or something. He didn’t ask me for a name or number, nothing to associate me with my order. When I walked in, I told one associate that I had placed an order over the phone, and he was completely clueless. Turns out he guy that took the order completely ignored it. I had to wait for them to cook it. Super inconvenient! I got a catfish plate of course. It was decent. I’ll assume I caught them at a bad time.

Took the kids who are BBQ afficianados via the Lone Star State and California. We ordered the big J with ribs, chicken, brisket and pulled pork. We chose Mac n cheese, cole slaw, broccoli casserole and baked beans. It was ALL great! The folks at Ble Moon rock! We shall return. We drove from Livingston, TN and will do it again. Don’t forget the banana pudding!!!

For all the bragging on Unilocal,this place was a big was a big disappointment! The brisket tasted like roast beef… no smokey flavor what so ever. And apparently the only seasoning in the bark was salt and plenty of it! The mac & cheese and mashed potatoes sides were good, but the potions were small and precisely metered out… finally the hot sauce was mostly Tabasco… Not my idea of authentic BBQ at all.

Puzzled why everyone likes this so much. It was better than the ham sandwich I was gonna make at home but… only one sauce that tasted like pancake syrup with a kick. My Mac and cheese that I watched the last of get scraped out of a tin was what it was. Flat cornbread was good. Edley’s in East Nashville destroys this.

Evidently everyone gets a trophy or award for making BBQ. The meal we had today was below average. Not impressed and will not return.
1. BBQ was ok. A little dry and on the bland side.
2. Catfish was awful. Thin, over cooked and tasteless.
3. Fried green tomatoes were undercooked and slimy.
4. Smoked chicken could pass for baked chicken. No smoke flavor.

The Owner is genuinely concerned. I’m certain he will work closely with his staff to ensure future experiences are better than ours. I applaud Todd for reaching out.

BLUF: Brisket was amazing, pulled pork was good. Meat plate felt a bit overpriced, but stick to sandwhiches/​specials and the prices are fine.
I stopped into Blue Moon BBQ in the middle of a trip from Murfreesboro, TN to Lynchburg, VA. It happened to be near the gas station I had to stop at, which worked out beautifully for me. I came in at 2 or 3 on a Friday (day after Christmas) and the place was pretty much deserted. Staff was very friendly and helpful in recommending the lunch specials they were still running (which I should have taken them up on).
I ended up ordering the two meat plate with a drink. I got brisket and pulled pork with mac n cheese and fries and cornbread. The brisket was amazing, and the pulled pork was quite good as well. The cornbread comes in little pancake shaped pieces, and despite the fact that I typically only like very sweet cornbread, I actually really enjoyed the cornbread here, so be sure to give that a shot. Sides were both good, but nothing to write home about. I paid about $ 15 for my meal, which seems like a bit much, but the meat really was amazing so I’m not complaining.
There are various bottles and signs lining the walls, which was enough to keep me visually interested for my meal (I came in alone). The men’s restroom has a bunch of tire rims on the ceiling, which seemed odd, but kinda cool.

Decent BBQ but nothing to write home about. The ambiance was pretty interesting with many photos from past famous visitors including the guys from American Pickers.
Sauces were good but the smoked turkey was dry. Pulled pork and brisket were both ok. Prices aren’t bad, if you want one meat, two sides and a piece of bread it’s around $ 10, a combo with two meats is about $ 12.

We came here on a whim, after leaving Ryans’ from being over packed.
It blew us away. Good amount of food, for a reasonable price. Best of all, the Sweet & Sassy BBQ Sauce they have on the table tastes just amazing. I have had some award winning BBQ sauce, and this just blew it out of the water. It goes good on everything they have. Pulled pork, chicken, fries, chips, toast, cornbread, you name it!
If you are in this area, I can’t recommend this place enough! Try it out!

Excellent BBQ. The brisket looked and tasted delicious — moist and flavorful. My boyfriend said the smoked chicken was the best he’s had. The mac & cheese was really good — the other sides were ok but not spectacular. I can definitely envision regularly getting carry-​out of their meat.
The prices were very reasonable. Definitely not fancy inside, but friendly staff and great food!
