Every experience has been consistently great food, very friendly service, and reasonable prices! We stop here every time we are in the area!

We are so glad to have this place nearby. I love eating there. The people are always friendly and helpful. They remember some of our likes. Is it the best Mexican I have ever had? No. Is it the most authentic Mexican I have ever head, just like what I grew up with back in Southern California? No. But it’s the best we have, and I really enjoy it. I love their Chicken Fajitas(yes, I know they aren’t really *Mexican*, but food evolves when it meets other cultures.) The caramelized veggies are fantastic. And I always look forward to their Enchilada Trio. We are so happy that Gusanoz has survived and thrives.

So we’re driving toward Vermont and we stop for dinner and we find this place and WOW was I surprised. It was delicious. My chimichanga was spot on. The only down side was there was a lot of beans on the plate and too many beans in the chimichanga. Less beans next time please. Also there was not a lot of rice. Personality I think rice is an essential part of Mexican food so please add more next time. thanks!

Best molcajete ever. That dish is to die for. Excellent service all the time and lots of great memories. We now go once a week and get the queso fundido and molcajete of amazingness ;) I highly recommend Guzanos Mexican Restaurant for great food and a great time!!!

Just ok. The margs were good, the food was sub par. I got the taco trio and almost no filling in any of them. The restaurant is pretty ugly as well. Surprisingly it was busy for a Monday night. I’d rather go to margaritas even though I’m not a big fan of that place either. Won’t be returning here.

Very unimpressed from the beginning. The ambiance was very strange seeing as the floors were grey concrete and the tables were covered with brown paper to be changed after east guest, and their décor looked as if they picked it up from the dollar store. A women dropped some chips and salsa on our table and mumbled«here, enjoy» before she just left, which wasn’t very polite. The dish I ordered(portobello fajitas) came in two parts: first the fillings(shredded cheese, rice, refried beans, salsa, sour cream, lettuce, tortillas). My rice was not hot and was almost cold, and my beans were only lukewarm. Then came a sizzling hot dish of stir fried veggies and the portobello slices, steaming hot. The fillings were basic items that I could have thrown together in my own house. The mushrooms and veggies were very good and very hot, though. Overall, the staff was borderline rude, the atmosphere was strange, and my food was ordinary. Gusanoz is nothing special, and I will not be returning.

Love this restaurant. Great food. Great drinks. Great chips and salsa!!! Can always get a seat even though it always seems crowded and very busy. Happy and friendly staff who know what they’ve doing. We go there a lot and are so delighted we found them.!!

I don’t like given a less than 3-star review. Gusanoz is one of those restaurants that you wonder how they’re still in business. Maybe it’s their bar… the selection at their bar is really good. Excellent selection of tequila in varying price range although with their clientele, I imagine Jose Cuervo is probably what they use the most of. that or Sauza Gold. The food was decent in the past(around 2011) and although they never remembered my request to «not put lettuce on anything» and did it anyway, the portions were good and meat was well cooked. Then they were remodeled and the menu went really small and a lot of great dishes went away and the prices went up and they got this really weird wall-art and tacky decorations like every day was basically Cinco De Maya w/a mix of Day of the Dead and I’ve been 3 times since then and each time, I wonder how I spent $ 20 for a single burrito with a side of bean and rice. How did that happen? I didn’t even order a drink! Maybe I’m spoiled by the mexican food in the south or the food when I lived in SF where you could walk into a place, spend $ 4.50 and get a burrito that was basically two meals worth of food with a homemade Horchata that washed everything down so perfectly.

Average Mexican food at best, but I imagine most Mexican food in Northern New Hampshire is similar. In the middle of a strip mall tucked in the corner you will find it. The restaurant itself is fine, plenty of booths and a large enough for groups. The tables have this weird multi colored poncho covering the table yet they then put down a large paper to avoid food getting and drinks being spilled on the table. Well why you do put basically a carpet on the table them?!(I have become more irritated at this the older I get) The menu is large but the prices seem way overpriced. 3 tacos with beans and rice(the rice and beans are the standard we cooked this before hand so your plate will look fuller) will set you back 12 dollars. Overkill. The margarita was fine I couldn’t tell if it was fake stuff for the mix, but it was sweeter than I wanted. It was nice after I spilled it she took my drink and brought me another at no cost. The service was good and the food arrived very fast. Free chips and some awesome salsa was some kick. Overall it is just your standard Mexican food joint. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there but don’t hate it.

Not the greatest Mexican food I’ve ever had, but lively atmosphere, good service and the guacamole made table-side was a nice touch. Would definitely go again if I was in the area.

On our way back from Vermont we were very hungry and took whatever exit we could get into and whatever restaurant we could find. We were glad we ended up here. We really like the ambiance and the two type of salsa we got with nachos. Overall food was tasty and service was great too.

Excellent Rita and chimichanga. Service was fast and friendly. Salsa is also fresh and spicy which is a nice change of pace. Restaurant is accessed very easily from I89.

Best restaurant in the upper valley for authentic Mexican. You can definitely tell that the food is made with love. Great drinks as well! Fun atmosphere for the whole family or date night.

Welcome to the world’s whitest Mexican Restaurant! It was good and inexpensive. My only complaint is I ordered chicken quesadilla’s and it was very light on the chicken, and very heavy on mushrooms. Mushrooms, really? This was a surprise not mentioned on the menu. It kind of tainted my experience. Still it’s good. Lots of booze options and pretty cheap.

We’ve been coming here ever since Gusanos opened. The food has always been good, but it seems like they are always changing things around to improve what doesn’t need to be improved. When Kitchen Impossible(not sure that was the show) came in, they took numerous favorites off the menu, changed the décor and increased the prices. They’ve brought some items back like the Queso Funidido with Chorizo and Tacos al Pastor. The décor is still odd; we liked it better with the non-plastic chairs and homey atmosphere of before. However, they did hide the wait station behiind a opaque wall which was nice. Prices remain somewhat high. I agree with other reviewers that, of course, you can get better Mexican food in Calif. or Texas OR go to Mexico, but being here in the Upper Valley, Gusanos consistently does a good job. Great margaritas as well.

I just moved here from Los Angeles, have been visiting Lebanon for a few years and had heard about Gusanoz. The locals never had anything great to say about it aside from them having good salsa. I showed up, and the first thing I heard was blaring Salsa music. My first thought was, if a Mexican owns this place, they have to be from El D.F. Sure enough they are originally near Chilangolandia, A.K.A. The Federal District of Mexico. I had ordered a two taco plate with black beans and rice. First off, who ever made those beans must have had Parkinson’s with the salt Shaker. The Salt mines of North Africa had less salt than these beans. The Mexican rice was ooook. The tacos were not asada, but steak, which is cool. Overall the food was ooook. With the two tacos, beans, rice and one beer, a Pacifico, which is a basic Mexican beer, like a Coors of Mexico, the total was 23 dollars. Even in L.A. would you never see a place like Gusanoz this expensive. I asked the bar tender why the prices were this high, his response was that patrons complained they were too cheap. I call bullshit on that or the patrons are blatant idiots. Their menu also gave a definition to the word Gusanoz. Their definition was a Spanish definition as one from Spain, of Mexico. In Mexico, a gusano is a worm, be it a earth worm, a maggot or any form of worm. Not something you would associate with food. You would associate it with tequila, but the worm in the bottle was not a Mexican idea but an American idea. It would also seem that this place has gone through several renovations to keep it a float. There is only so many holes you can patch on a sinking boat before you just give up on it. Most of the people who post positive reviews seem like they are friends with the owners or friends helping a dying dream. In conclusion, if you want to spend tons of money for sub par Mexican food, come here and get reamed for your money.

Ok pretty exciting. Apparently Restaurant Impossible came to pay Gusanoz a little visit. I was hesitant at first to go back but when I heard that they came to give them a makeover I got really excited. My boyfriend and I went for a late lunch/early dinner, and the place was pretty empty which was fine by us, but as we later learned you show up at 5:30? And the place gets packed. The change in décor was a much needed triumph, much brighter, nicer, festive and inviting. They start you off with complimentary chips and salsa which were delicious and we ordered the table side Guacamole. Everything was very yummy, including my low calorie margarita. For dinner my boyfriend ordered one of the Chef Irvine dishes, chicken Mole with black beans, while I had the Habanero burrito. Everything can be made vegetarian so I had mine with Veggies and no rice. The food was great! Alex, the owners daughter took great care of us and we had an amazing evening. Who knew? Thanks Restaurant Impossible for helping this little place become a tex-mex jewel in the upper valley.
