Should have known when we first walked in and the 2 hostesses working had no clue what they were doing and watching them work was like watching the dog in Up(squirrel). Two groups the same size as ours were seated before us even though they came in after we did. We didn’t get our appetizer of chips and salsa, salad was forgotten on one of the meals, wrong meat source in another meal. Wasn’t just our table either, overheard the table behind us was also having issues and also watch a table across having issues as well. Our server was great and very apologetic so that was appreciated, but won’t be coming back.

I ordered a meal and a drink. There was an attentive staff and food I would expect for a Chili’s not disappointed.

Don’t know what all the fuss is about. Just finished a great meal. Restaurant is clean, service was friendly and quick. Good baby back ribs.

I can’t believe how much this chilis has gone down hill. I’m disgusted by the cleanliness and the lack of leadership at this location. We walked in with half the restaurant with dirty tables and not even half the tables taken with a 15 min wait. I sure hope someone does something fast with this location. This is the 3rd bad experience I have had with this location and I won’t be back.

Nothing gets your meal off on the right start like a 57 minute wait when you can count 7 empty tables while standing at the front door. Once you finally get seated, the server asks how you’re doing, you mention how absurd is it to wait for an hour while staring at empty table… and the server’s response is, «Yeah we’re a little understaffed, so they don’t seat you right away because then you won’t be able to get good service.» Then she jokes, «Well, I guess you’re already not getting good service, right?» The manager that is unable to properly plan a schedule and adjust staffing based upon customer traffic should be retrained or fired. This meal has been an utter failure and we’ve only just gotten our drinks. We’ll see just how well everything else goes from this point forward… 37 minutes later, we have food… and things didn’t get better. Two of us got the same steak. One medium rare and the other medium. When we asked which was which, she didn’t know. She also placed the sizzling hot skillet down right in front of the one year old toddler and was oblivious that doing so was a bad idea. The medium steak is overcooked to medium well at the center and well at the edges. The medium rare steak, was not correct either. This meal continues to somehow get worse and worse. Third and final update… To finish the meal in a befitting manner, our server asked, «You guys know how to use the Ziosk on the table, right?» We said yes and away she went. Well, guess what? The Ziosk was offline and wouldn’t bring up our check. I picked up the Ziosk and held it extended over my head. After a hostess and two other servers looked and just kept walking, we were able to flag down a third server who took the Ziosk and printed a copy of our bill. Our server finally appeared and asked if we had trouble with the Ziosk. We told her it didn’t work at all and handed her our card. I gave my wife the ticket so she could write in the tip. Every single one of these Chili’s staff members failed tonight… The manager(understaffed), the server(unprofessional), the food runner(incompetent), and the kitchen(incompetent).

I wish I can leave 2 stars but that would be too nice. Me and my family were seated at the bartending area. Our server(I wish I got her name) was extremely inattentive and made it her mission to avoid us as much as possible. No inquiries on drink refills and«if there is anything else I can bring you». This happened on a Sunday during late lunch time so it wasn’t busy at all. No manager was present to check to see if service was in par. This is the first time we’ve ever been treated this way. I understand there might be a learning curve working in the service industry and I don’t discredit the hard work involved. But the Golden Rule«Treat others the way you want to be treated» didn’t apply. It’s a shame. We won’t be returning.

Took 30+ minutes to get sub-par food and our server said there was nothing he could do… Sounds like bogus to me. Give me a desert or take off the dry pasta.

This Chili’s has tried to reinvent itself. We used to come here at least once a week. They hired a few bad bartenders/staff and chased us away. We came when they never cleaned up after customers so there were too many dirty tables to count. Also, the staff didn’t seem to care one way or the other if you enjoyed your meal. They have improved since then for sure. My latest visit was work related and the server was very friendly and helpful. The pay at your table kiosk was handy and made things easy. My lunch choice was good, but almost too much food.

Waited over an hour for food(3 kids meal, a salad, and a mexi rice bowl). I had to get the hostess to check on order because manager was handeling other upset tables around us. When order finally came out food was cold, Kids meal was missing the garlic bread, and instead of salad they brought a chicken sandwich. 8 minutes later they return with the salad but made incorrectly. The manager had very little to say until I brought up that this isn’t the first time I’ve had an issue at this location, he then went on to tell me they recently had a manager turn over. I will not return to this location the server was snotty and did not want to help she avoided our table the remainder of the night, the manager had very little explanation or empathy towards the situation. Instead of a salad from Chilis I had drive through from Wendy’s for dinner. This Chilis will not survive if they continue with the poor service and long waits for food. I would not recommend the Layton location to anyone, drive to Ogden if you want Chilis.

Came in, waited at the front door for a table for about 5 minutes and no one came to seat me. Decided to see if the bar was open seating and sat at a high top there. Waited another 10 minutes as servers walked by and the bar tender sat behind the bar, and not one person even acknowledged the fact that I was there. No drink order, no let me find your server, no nothing. And to top it off they weren’t even busy!

The service was a little below average but not that bad. However, getting food poisoning equals an automatic 1 star review in my book. There are far better eating options in Layton than this Chile’s.

We had a nice meal here to celebrate my brilliant daughter-in-law’s graduation from Weber State. Our waiter was great, we were seated and served quickly, and the food was delicious. Plenty of parking available and the restaurant is close to a freeway.

Horrible service! We went in today around one o’clock and they were not busy at all, we were the only people standing at the front waiting for someone to seat us. About 5 – 10 minutes pass and still no host or server acknowledged us, then we saw a manager heading towards the front thinking she was going to help us, but she just looked at us and walked away! Didn’t even ask if we had been helped or let us know she would send a host our way. We got tired of being ignored so we left and went to Boston’s.

Chili’s corporate office in Texas was quick to send us coupons to try this again. We again went at about 3:00 pm to find the restaurant clean, and received good service. Ironically, we were seated in the same waitress’ section. After she saw our coupons, before we even ordered, she had the manager come to our table, and he asked what our prior experience had been. We explained what had happened. He apologized, and assured us that waitress is actually his best server. Our food was good this time, though neither of us tried the steak again, and the server was terrific. Based on this new visit, we will return, and I would recommend Chili’s in Layton to others.

Child’s used to be one of our favorite places. Now it’s a default setting when we’re looking for a place for a late dinner. Our server was very attentive. That covers the highlights. Their chips are gritty with salt. Their Diet Coke was flat. No carbonation at all. Seriously folks! Even McDonalds knows how to mix Diet Coke correctly. My wife had a burger. Either that cow died from OD’ing on the salt lick, or the cooks at Chilis are dumping salt on those burgers. I had the fajitas. The shrimp was excellent, but the beef was so chewy that I couldn’t bite through it in the tortilla. They give you a tiny little cup with 15 cheese shavings. USETHEMWISELY! Time to find a new late night dining option.

I’m not sure why after so many bad experiences with this Chilis location did I ever decide to give it another chance. We went there for my son’s birthday and after standing at the front door for 15 minutes, wondering if there was a hostess or if any of the servers were ever going to acknowledge the large line forming at the door a man finally came over and took the first group back, then about 5 more minutes passed with him just wandering the restaurant before he came and led the next people back. By this time there was a large line forming, but we were the next ones up so I thought it would be ok, so when he came back a couple minutes later and asked us how many were in our party I told him 5 and he then proceeded to tell me it would be 25 – 40 minutes. It was 8:30p.m. and at this point and we decided to take our business elsewhere.

Chili’s has really stepped it up with the table-side guacamole! It is a chance to talk to the server a little more, and the guacamole is great!

I hadn’t been to Chili’s in quite awhile, as I got tired of the drab sides that came with my delicious Ribeye steak smothered in yummy garlic butter. Anyway it’s been a few years and a different state. Last night, my family and I came to this Chili’s since I just refused to cook(just kidding). I’m happy we did, as we were PLEASANTLY surprised to see that the sides have changed. We all ordered the Ribeye of course cause that is just what we do. We ended up getting sides of grilled asparagus and tomatoes, skillet mashed potatoes(so much better than the previous mashed potatoes!) baked cinnamon apples and jalapeño corn bread. The food was phenomenal! The ONLY problem we had was that my husband found a hair in his food, it happens, not a major deal breaker. By the time he found a second one, he just gave up on that steak. We spoke with our waitress Amanda who said she would take care of it, we just asked to have the new steak in a to-go box but we fully intend to pay. Marie the manager also came over and talked to us. She also said they would take care of it. Totally not necessary, we understand things happen and definitely do not expect free food. Both Marie and Amanda are great. Amanda totally exemplifies what a good waitress is, prompt, courteous, playful yet professional and definitely proactive. We will for sure be back to this Chili’s in the near future.

«Bowel shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse assail him, impale him with muscle truck force.» They might as well have been singing about this place. My fellow dining buddy and I had a craving for americanized mexican food and we decided to go upscale. So instead of going to taco time, we came here. Bad mistake. We both got crazy food poisoning. After discussing it, we determined that the only common item that we ate was the salsa. What you do to salsa that turns it into a piqcante laxative is beyond me, but they found a way. Food poisoning is no laughing matter. Especially because you might loose bowel control if you laugh too hard. I’ll spare you the juicy details, but it wasn’t fun.

Things have gone down hill at the Layton location. Cleanliness and consistent food quality have diminished recently. We once went in here every week or two, now we are patronizing every month or two and if it continues like it has for the last couple visits we may not return. Things are run down, cleaning is not a priority, service is sketchy and the food quality is hit or miss, hopefully they get it worked out.
