This is a first for me — I have never left a one-star review. I really wanted to like this place as I am a fan of all types of barbecue and often tell friends who argue the merits of Memphis or Texas or KC or Carolina barbecue that there is no such thing as bad barbecue — just some is better than others. Well, I was wrong. This was bad barbecue. Three of us went in at lunch on a Saturday. My wife, who is from Texas, ordered brisket with mac and cheese. Her brisket was cold and fatty, and when she commented on this to the woman behind the counter, she didn’t even get an acknowledgement. Her mac and cheese was elbow macaroni with cheese sauce lying on top — not even stirred in to the cold noodles. I got the pulled pork and sausage, also cold. The pork was tough and chewy, and the sausage, while having a good flavor, didn’t do well because it was room temperature — and room temperature was not even lukewarm as they did not appear to have the heat on with the outside temperature in the low 40’s — my wife had to return to the car for her coat, as she didn’t think she’d need it for the brief time needed to cross the parking lot. My Southwestern Corn was interesting, but — you guessed it — cold! My teenaged son, who routinely powers through mass quantities of things that barely pass for food, even raised his head and complained that his pulled pork, brisket, and mac and cheese was cold and ‘not that good’, which manifested in his leaving a good part of his food in the paper tray it was served in, which has not happened in living memory. Not all was bad — their sauce in a squeeze bottle on the table was good, as was their iced tea — but that just isn’t enough to make me come back for more punishment with the wide range of good barbecue choices in the area.

Love this place. Family run and very friendly. They really know how to cook some brisket. This is real Texas BBQ. Highly recommend it. TRYITONCE, you will be back.

Good pulled pork sandwiches. Too die for Banana Pudding. If you are a home, they do deliver if you guys didn’t know. The resturants atmosphrere is Meh… no frills. Didn’t get a great feel from the lady behind the bar or the gentleman that was there. Would order for take out but not a fan of take out/dining in there.

The meat is decent… But I paid 25 plus tip for two ribs and three slices of brisket??? No… Not happening again. Nice taste, but several places provide the same or better for less. No mas, GOAD… sorry not sorry… never again…

Do not waste your time!!! This was the worst experience ever. Service was horrendous. the owners are rude the food is disgusting the brisket was dry they didn’t have anything available awful awful awful no way I’m ever going back there ever again stay far away. much better barbecue any where and every where else! Awful!!!’ On top of it all the owner offers pickles and then brings one to the table and says they’re out of pickles really? To add insult to injury when I complained the female owner looked at me and said oh well everybody has different taste in barbecue. No apology or offer to correct. Just plain awful!

Everything they have is fantastic. Prices are great, very family friendly atmosphere. We try to eat here at least once a week. My wife never liked BBQ until she tried their brisket!

The staff is very polite. They really care about their customers and their service but the food is just ok. Honestly, their meat taste like it was reheated but that’s not the reason I gave this restaurant 2 stars. What upset me more than anything was the god awfully sad excuse for Mac and cheese. It’s just overcooked macaroni noodles slathered in watery velveta. No salt or pepper. It’s horrid.

We ordered the ribs, Mac and cheese, green beans, and brisket for the family. Honestly the ribs were huge but both them nor the brisket were tender. I had to pull the meat apart with my teeth. Not really how I like my bar b q meat. The green beans were seasoned well enough to off set the absence of seasoning found in the Mac n cheese. I was disappointed with the meal but someone else very well might like it.

Pros: brisket was pretty good, pulled pork not the best, but good as well. Sweet tea, wonderful. My wife likes the slaw. Also Carolina sauce was very tasty. Cons: hated the chopped chicken, certainly didn’t finish it. Beans and potato salad were in the middle, nothing to jump for joy about.

Great little place for some BBQ. Pulled pork sandwich with cowboy beans. Plate with 1 meat and 1 side is $ 7.99. Never had beans like this before. Very delicious. Pulled pork was excellent with their sweet bbq sauce. Greeted by a woman that I’m assuming owns the place. Very helpful and very nice. They were out of a few things but they cater and I went in after a big football game. I’ll be back to try more stuff. Location 4 Service 5 Food 5

*If your reviews are sounding like an essay, leave that for a blog. I can’t read your life details on my phone, before ordering from the menu. [Time & Date of visit]: Saturday, 6ish pm [Party Size]: 2 [Location/Ambiance]: Parking — Plenty Store location — On the far right end of the small strip before the big box stores such as Walmart. Inside — Various tables scattered through the middle and booth like sections on the far right of the restaurant. The menu is located on the left wall on chalk boards while you order at the«bar counter» area. Though there is a fountain machine and another station for sweet and non-sweet tea, there are also other drinks available in their fridge. Most of their foods also appear to be stored in warming trays and slow cookers behind the front counter. Ambiance — Mom & pop kind of setup, but a little gloomy to how empty and lack of brighter lighting inside was, even before the sun set. [Service]: Fast casual kind of setup; order and prepay at the front counter and the food is then brought to your table where you are seated. [Food Highlights]: Pulled pork — Portion wise, it’s a bit lacking. As well as the ratio of meat and fat that was left. Taste wise, I actually really liked it. Maybe being stored in a slow cooker vs a heater lamp kept the meat moist. The smokey taste is subtle, but it’s good on it’s own with out sauce. Was surprised. Not quite a food-gasm, but double thumbs up good. Southwestern corn — Creamy, with a bit of kick in the back end. I’m glad I took the owners /manager’s suggestion when I asked what sides he recommended and this was the first one he listed. It looks like, bits of jalapeño’s are incorporated to this good mix of corn and creamy sauce. A must try. Sweet tea — Pretty good, not overly sweet to levels of being diabetic. I still mixed mine with non-sweet tea for a ½ & ½ ratio. Table BBQ sauces: Smokey Bold — Tastes like a Memphis style, only a tad sweet but with a strong mesquite taste on the front end. I actually liked it. Sweet & tangy — A mustard base sauce, but pretty much tasted like honey mustard. Meh. [Total Bill]: $ 7.50 before tax and tip. {Summary}: Goad BBQ Co seems pretty dead on the weekends before prime time dinner hours. And with the latest construction on 316, it’s even more of a pain to get here unless you need to stop by wally world. The dinner crowd, or lack thereof, makes the place seem empty. Food wise, the pulled pork was good. Though I wish serving size could be a bit more. Curious to want to visit to try their ribs and other fixin’s. 3.5 stars.

Clean your act up!!! The BBQ is good as well as the sides, however this place is a sloppy dump. Its not that its old and worn like some old BBQ joints, its just filthy from lazy employees. Nothing personal, buy every time I’m there, the employees are sitting around playing on their laptops/tablets or watching TV within 15 ft of filthy, sticky drink station and gross smeared tables. Everything is sticky and slicked over with grease, sugar, sauce, and whatever else was left behind the Weeks before. Its incredible to watch them while eating there, wondering if they’re visually impaired that they don’t acknowledge the gross factor surrounding them. It didn’t happen overnight… So disappointed cuz its close to work and the ‘que is tasty!
