Got out of the Bottleneck at midnight and needed some food. The 1st place that was open was Pickleman’s Gourmet Café. Not sure why they call it Gourmet or Café. It was just another sub sandwich chain. It might as well be Subway or Firehouse or any of the other dozen chain sub shops. The staff was friendly, liked that they were open late, and had gardenaire as a topping; really nothing making me want to return. Why don’t you get a pickle wedge? Your name is Pickleman’s!

I don’t really care for their sandwiches but I went with a group that wanted to eat here. This time I had the pizza. It was pretty good. Very thin crust. Not too many toppings to choose from and an Italian sausage is 9.99 so there are better deals out there for a $ 10 pizza. I added bacon for an up-charge. I did like it but it’s not a favorite.

Pizza was good. Portions were fine. Delivery was swift but we live 7 minutes away. Driver was polite and patient as I juggled dog and baby and food. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

I wish there was an option to give it no stars. The manger was extremely rude when I asked if there was a way we could get a replacement for a pizza that tasted as if it had been sitting out for an extra 30 minutes before getting to out door. Never ordering here again.

Gourmet sandwich shop is probably a little extreme but they deliver a decent sandwich and soup. Reminded me a lot of Panera. I did the pick 2 with a half sandwich and a small soup and it was the right amount of food and it was super quick for two out of towners in a time crunch. Plus with a check in on Unilocal and spending $ 5, we got a free cookie!

I got pizza delivered from here. It took almost two hours to arrive. TWOHOURS. It cost me almost 15 dollars and it tasted like a piece of cardboard. Horrible service, crap food, and outrageous prices. I highly advice against ordering from here, you will regret it. They also didn’t give me a refund or an apology. All I got was a condescending«I don’t know what to tell ya bud.» A pathetic establishment.

Bad food, bad delivery experience. My first time was also my last time. Just disappointing from first phone call to last bite. The BF thought his pizza was mediocre, and my sandwich and salad combination was downright bad. Overpriced, too. Two stars because the delivery guy was apologetic. Otherwise, it would have been only one star as Pickleman’s acted bored that I was complaining about not having gotten the food I paid for. Ugh.

Out of desperation, some friends and I ordered delivery from Pickleman’s. Obviously, the«gourmet» police are being paid off by the proprietor, because this food was far from that distinction. The Garden Chop salad I ordered came with the incorrect dressing, and absolutely none of the cheese promised in the menu. Ranch dressing is bad enough, as far as I am concerned, when it is at its proper consistency, but when as runny as my nose during ragweed season, it is even unappealing to people who like ranch dressing. This particular ranch dressing was so thin, it would not even stick to the rusted romaine stems that made up a goodly portion of the lettuce I received. Clearly, the baby has been thrown out with the lemon zest bathwater. If the #2(how appropriate) Ham Sandwich actually had any provolone cheese on it, I was unable to detect it. The ham slice itself was so insignificant that I could barely perceive that there was meat situated in the iceberg lettuce and mayonnaise. If you enjoy sandwiches with perceptible fillings and salads that come with the promised ingredients, you might want to try a different sandwich shop. Oh, and the whole pickle that the concerned order taker indicated was threateningly huge? I’ve had bigger.

I used to order from this place occasionally after getting home from a late night out at the bars. It’s very overpriced for the amount of food you get, but it was tasty enough that I continued getting it. Anyways, about two weeks ago I made my last ever delivery order from Pickleman’s. I ordered the turkey bacon club, which is often lacking on the bacon/turkey portion(I honestly don’t know why I got it). Anyways, I ordered it with no tomatoes, and the guy shows up at my door about 20 minutes later. I take a bite into the sandwich… and it has NOFREAKINGBACONONIT! Seriously, for such a simplistic sandwich, with the word BACON in the name, how do you forget the bacon?! Unbelievable. I ended up driving to the actual restaurant to bring my order back and get a refund. They offered to remake the sandwich(without first offering my money back — which made me even more angry, as I paid more to have it delivered, and of course I tipped the delivery driver). I got my money back, and haven’t looked back since. I forgot to mention, the sandwich had tomatoes on it as well, which I asked them not to include. Great job Pickleman’s!

Nice décor, and glad not to see a TV. I had a pizza… plenty peppery, so much so that I only ate 10% of them. My husband had a french dip sandwich.

I’m not sure I would classify this as «gourmet», but it’s pretty damn tasty. I haven’t had any of their sandwiches, but my co-workers seem to love them. I usually stick to soup+salad or pizza. Their pizza is well priced, and only takes a few minutes to get out of the oven thingy. Their baja chicken soup is amazing, I actually get cravings for it sometimes. It’s a small chain, but it is owned locally, so I don’t have much of a problem going in there personally. The owner is nice and is always making sure people are enjoying their meals. All of the other staff is very personable as well. OH, and they deliver til 3am. 3AM. That’s pretty freakin awesome.

Like others have said, just a standard sandwich shop. Don’t expect to be blown away, but expect to leave thinking ‘that was alright.’ I didn’t realize this was a chain but it sounds like it is. There are likely better options nearby for late night eats, but this filled us up and that counts for something I guess.

So the food is just average. The soup is as bland as could be. The sandwiches are decent but nothing to write home about. The website however, is awful! It’s almost worth going to look at the website just to look at the terrible pictures. They look like some really disgusting anatomy pictures. Seriously, check it out. The pics on the website will ensure that you never order from here again.

I’d been avoiding Pickleman’s because I understood it to be a chain. Being someone that typically avoids chain restaurants I didn’t have high expectations. They didn’t let me down. It a nutshell, it’s a slightly nicer version of Subway with a hipper interior design. But the food… this isn’t what I’m looking for in a sandwich, and it sure as hell isn’t gourmet. Dispense with the title. I don’t need gourmet in a sandwich – how about just quality fresh ingredients and bread that’s acceptable? Got the Meatball with Marinara and the Asiago Chicken Club and added an Italian Chopped Salad. If you’re billed as a gourmet sandwich chain I’d think you’d pay attention to your bread. This is tasteless, mealy dough that has not a lot of taste and soaked up ingredients too much so that in the end it became a goo ball. We didn’t finish them. The salad was the whitest of iceberg lettuce with a few cheap cuts of meat arranged in a pattern on top. Salami & capicola? Hell, that’s the same grade stuff you can get at Dillon’s(Kroger brand) hanging by the hook sealed in hard plastic. Ever hear of a pinch of salt and pepper on lettuce to give it a little more taste? Not here. That’s what I get for picking up a sandwich mid-evening on the run with impossibly too much going on in preparation for the holidays. I suspect the crowd that frequents these places, it’s just good enough, and it’ll stay that way. Like I’ve said before, people that frequent Unilocal won’t be busting down the doors to eat at a Pickleman’s, Subway or other similar joints. Jimmy John’s down the street does a much better job for a chain. I can return there but can’t say the same for PGC. P. S. it’s in Kansas City but if you want to see and taste what a meatball sub should taste like, hit Pandolfi’s east of the River Market. Now *there’s* how to build and serve a killer sandwich.

Stopped in for a broccoli cheese soup. It’s the same frozen Sysco soup we sold at Mr. Goodcents when I worked there. Not worth 4 and a half bucks. Don’t know how the sandwiches are.

If there is one defining feature about Pickleman’s, it is that they like to skimp on their portions. The catered sandwiches are sad; one measly slice of meat per croissant with pathetic limp strands of iceberg lettuce do not make for an appetizing serving platter. Also, don’t come here if you have the munchies while out drinking. Pickleman’s may be one of the few establishments on Mass St. that doesn’t close until 3am, but the«grilled cheese» I had was literally a bun with melted cheese on it. Despite my carb craving I couldn’t get myself to eat all of it. Pickleman’s may seem like a good deal(most sandiwches around $ 5), but you certainly get what you pay for — or should I say, you DON’T get what you DON’T pay for.

The dinky excuse for a sandwich that I got at Pickleman’s was certainly not worth $ 4.50. You could barely see the 2 slices of paper thin turkey between the doughy bread. It was neither tasty nor satisfying. Go to Planet/Yello Sub for a hot sandwich, or a block down the street to Jimmy Johns for a much bigger, substantial one. Mad that I wasted my money on that poor excuse for a sandwich. It was more like a hot pocket, with less filling.

It is most definitely normal and safe. I would not feel adventurous ordering something different off the menu, as there really is not a whole lot of anything besides sandwiches. And yes, it is a sandwich shop, but I was expecting some exotic breed of sandwich. Give me something spicy, something bold, and fresh. Surprise me! Pickleman’s is a place for consistently good sandwiches and soups that are well prepared and nicely presented. I had the chipotle chicken on wheat. The chipotle ranch was not spicy at all, and they didn’t even use fresh chicken. I could tell from the first bite that it was the chicken breast that is flashed grilled, given fake black grill marks, then frozen, shipped and then cooked and heated in a warmer all day. Disappointing all together, especially when you pay more($ 6 or 7). Give me some real chicken please. My fiancé had the meatball marinara, and the menu boasted to have the tastiest meatballs. No. They were not the tastiest meatballs, sorry Picklemans. The restaurant was clean and modern, and they spent extra to make it look fairly gourmet with the granite counter tops and all. It was average at best, but still a good standby since they’re open til 3 and they deliver.

Sandwiches slightly tastier than the other sandwhich shops AND open late AND delivery serivce AND uses biodegradable disposable«plasticware»… Really. This is where it’s at. Had a great italian sub with a ceasar salad to share. And, yes, I know the biodegradable stuff has to be composted to do any good, but it’s a start. Totally a fan.
