All the reviews used to be true. Peter was a mastercraftsman, however… something really bad has happened. A young woman in there(a relative?) choses to interfere with any help a customer is being given, is contentious, rude, and believe it or not actually refuses work! Off to another jewelry store, pronto. Peter was great, he could do anything. This is unbelieveably sad.

This is an amazing jewelry store and, believe me, I know my jewelry stores! They have quite an eclectic selection and they do not carry the standard cookie-cutter jewelry store fare. They are great for custom orders, too. The repair service is fast and thorough. The staff is professional and I cannot recommend this store highly enough. I also love that the staff remembers you and what you have purchased there. Great store, great experience, great staff.

I save up my jewelry buying trips for this place, as I’ve moved out of KS. I own only a few pieces that are NOT from Goldmakers… I stock up yearly here. I feel like I always walk in and find at least a half a dozen pieces that are dead-on my style and I cannot live without. The service is great, shopping experience relaxed and easy, no pressure. Gotta love that midwestern service! I am so jealous of all my friends that live in Lawrence who get to peruse the goodies at their leisure instead of a highly anticipated stop in a weekend trip. Although, my pocketbook is probably relieved… and my husband. ;) Goldmakers, I beg of you — online shopping is where it’s at! Pretty please?

I’ve had my finished jewelry for a few months now, so this is my updated review. First of all, I can’t believe that there is a store as great as Goldmakers just a few miles away from my home. This is a store that would be a stand out class act in any city. The customer service is personable, polite, sincere, and educated. Most jewelry salespeople seem to be either bored or agressive; it’s the opposite in Goldmakers. They support both local and international artists, a full range from costume to high end pieces. There is every type of style, from classic and simple to unique and creative. Regarding my specific experience in Goldmaker, I brought in three rings that I had bought in New York and New Jersey, in well known and supposedly reputable shops. The rings from NY were custom made gold bands with a single pearl in the center. One of the pearls fell out within a month, the other ring was delivered in the wrong size. The store refused to correct the sizing, or replace the pearl. The other ring was from a jewelry store in NJ. It was a large gold flower, with a ½ carat diamond in the center. The diamond fell out two days after I bought it. Like the pearl store, the NJ store refused to replace the gem. The broken rings had been sitting in my jewelry box for a few years when I read some reviews about Goldmakers, and I decided to see it they could help me. Even with great reviews, I was still somewhat skeptical, because of the horrible experiences with the aforementioned stores. At Goldmakers, they were sympathetic, gave me advice,(without pressuring me to buy anything), and discovered that the flower ring was on the verge of coming apart entirely and needed to be fixed as well. When I picked up the rings just a week later, they looked beautiful. I’ve worn all three almost every day since, and the rings are still perfect; it makes me happy every time I wear them. This is a terrific jewelry shop. I’ve been able to find really great jewelry for gifts, in affordable price ranges. The expertise, the wonderfully creative jewelry, and the customer service make this store a really special place.

Thought with a name like Goldmaker’s and a solid reputation I wouldn’t feel this way but I am bummed my engagement ring still doesn’t fit. In case the new employee doesn’t tell you they do accept same-day rush requests for an extra ten dollars — but that doesn’t do me any good now. Merchandise is cool — but customer service cold.

Wow, a jewelry store where I would wear anything they put on me… I don’t think I’ve ever felt that way before. This jewelry is unique, eclectic, and one-of-a-kind, and really, really awesome. I saw pieces with typewriter keys(which I’ve seen before, but these were really nicely done), rings with old Victorian necklace charms, re-melded stained glass bracelets. Each case excited me more and more, and you could tell these were made to be passed on(i.e. good quality). Sure, it was a little pricey, but nothing outrageous and definitely worth it. Even if you’re not interested in buying, you can get some interesting ideas by wandering around. I love stores that inspire you to create from what you see – and this store totally does that. The other great thing is the sales girls let you wander – no high pressure sales here. And they’re as interesting as the jewelry, having great style and personality. All in all, an awesome store.

Really beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces are to be found at Goldmakers. They made my wedding ring, found a great one for my husband, and they always have pretty, precious pieces, for very reasonable prices, considering the quality.

The name of this store is misleading: If you go to Goldmakers looking for coins or cases upon cases of gold jewelry, you’ll be disappointed. But if you like unique jewelry created by local artisans or want to design your own piece from an idea in your head, Goldmakers is the place to go. Goldmakers is a great place to just go in and browse around. There’s no high-pressure salespeople or bogus sales to contend with — just an eclectic collection of jewelry, each piece of which has the potential to become an instant conversation piece wherever it’s worn. The downside to falling in love with a one-of-a-kind piece is that you can’t sit on the fence too long deciding whether or not to splurge. Unlike some of the earrings and bracelets you can purchase at arts and crafts fairs, the jewelry at Goldmakers is well-made and designed to last. So go ahead and indulge yourself with a cool opal pendant or a retro bracelet embellished with recovered beach glass. Because really, how often will you find jewelry as individual as you?
