Body Boutique Women’s Fitness & Health Spa

I was a member 2014 – 2015. The location is fair and the Mercantile is nearby. The expansion allows for a better flow of people and significant space for free weights. I normally used the cardio machine and did free weights. No complaints. I could always find some equipment to do both. The bathroom is clean and inviting. In my experience, their peak hours are 7am-​9am and 5pm –8pm. I paid an affordable monthly price because of a summer deal. Know the cancelation policy. I knew I would move out of state after a year so before I signed up, I confirmed that I would be able to cancel. When I did, I had to pay for a month more than I expected.

I can’t get enough of the Group Fitness classes. They are the only reason I stay in shape — stimulating mind and body with varying choreography in each type of class — Pump, Attack, Flow, Combat, etc. The music distracts me from the intensity of the workout. Les Mills is just the most incredible company and I am so excited that Body Boutique offers so many of their classes.

Been a member here since Fall of 2013 and have really enjoyed it especially since the renovation/​expansion. I primarily train with the weights so I can’t speak to the fitness classes or cardio equipment. The weight room side of the gym has several sets of DBs ranging from 5lbs up to more than 40lbs as well as kettle bells and medicine balls. There weight machines are on one side of the room while the free weights are on the other and there is a very long path of astroturf for tire pushing, sprint drills, or whatever. Unfortunately there is only one squat rack (there’s also a smith machine but that’s not really the same) so if someone else is using it you’re kind of stuck. Also they don’t have a stair mill or a roman chair and they still have not moved the double pulley crossover machine into the weights area (it’s in the group fitness space so if you want to use it and a class is happening, too bad). Fortunately, I tend to go very early in the morning so the weight room is pretty empty. The staff is mostly very friendly, though some of the trainers can be rude to people who aren’t their clients.
Overall really great price and not nearly as crowded as the other gyms in Lawrence.

Don’t go to Body Boutique! Horrible experience. They prey on college students and won’t allow cancellation of their membership. I have been charged for over a year since graduation and I moved to Texas.
So for 15 months they have been collecting for services NOT provided after repeatedly calling!

I just started going to this gym about two weeks ago and I now look forward to my next workout there all the time. It’s an all girls gym which is great and all the trainers and teachers and staff are amazingly helpful and kind and understanding. They have daycare there and fitness classes for kids (for a fee) and with membership, you are able to attend the majority of the classes offered there as often as you like! They do have more intense classes (boot camp, TRX, etc) for a monthly fee but they run specials a lot of the time. Post workout, there’s a sauna, dry sauna and hot tub for your use, lockers, showers, the whole kit! Being a student is excellent, I got a significant discount on my monthly membership. It does sound difficult to get out of the contract but I don’t forsee doing that in the near future so I won’t speak to that yet.

I really enjoy Body Boutique. I know that it has had a bad reputation for not letting people out of their contracts. However, if you understand that it is very difficult to get out of without moving or proven health issues, then don’t expect otherwise. You can sell your membership to someone else, though.
All that aside. I really like it. There are good classes, a daycare, a discount at the spa and salon attached to it. The steam room, hot tub, and dry sauna have cooled cloths dipped in essential oils for when you get out. Nice.
The equipment is well maintained and there is plenty of it. I recommend it completely.
