Ordered French dip. Waitress forgot Au jus that comes with it. I asked for the sauce that she forgot. Waitress seemed confused at first. She told me she would bring it out. Received French dressing. At first I was confused, so I didn’t even say anything, but I soon realized why she must have thought I was asking for French dressing with my French dip. I was so amused, that I couldn’t even be angry.

We go here a lot. If something is wrong, the owner will fix it right away. The owner is there to please. Their crab linguini with red sauce is very good. Also their steak sandwiches are good too. Would recommend this place.

Just horrible Old lady was my server. Never brought out water, first water she brought had a big pepper in it. The ice crew was sour tasting. Her personality is horrible. I have no idea who’s running the establishment but you should consider bringing in employees and people who actually want to do their job. Sad I worked 16 hours today and haven’t slept, yet all I wanted was a good meal and I get shitty service while it’s slow here.

This is a great diner. Frequently have breakfast and dinner here. Favorites are the Reuben and their Greek salad. Staff is always friendly and service quick

This place is packed on weekday mornings and it’s no surprise why: their breakfast specials. I got the Choice of Two Eggs with home fries, toast, and coffee for $ 2.99. My eggs were done just as I asked– over easy. The gooey yolk went well with my home fries and toast. And in the end, I could not believe my entire meal was $ 3(not including tip of course). No complaints about the service here either. It’s definitely a nice spot for breakfast that’s easy on your wallet.

Since they opened under a new name and management the diner took a turn for the best by changing the menu and updating the inside. Good is great and fresh.

I hardly ever post reviews but this is one that I just can’t help but post. I went to this diner today for the very first time and I will NEVER return again. It was apparent to me from the moment my server approached my table that something was definitely wrong. I’m not sure if it was because I was a female alone and she felt she wouldn’t get a big enough tip(I’m in the restaurant business and know how servers think) or I was just an inconvenience to her. Whatever the case, I had the worst service I’ve ever had in my life. In addition, I asked for well-done home fries and they were barely cooked and tasted like they were days old. The toast was cold and hard and the jelly was rancid as you can see from the picture. The only thing truly edible were the eggs and even they were over-cooked. She quickly walked by one time and asked if everything was ok but was looking the other way and walking too fast to even care. Never again will I come here. Personal message to server Heather, find another job.

Reuben is great. Chicken Parm dinner is good. Omelettes are good as always. The mozzarella sticks used to be the best but they must have changed vendors or make them differently. Still good as always.

One of my favorite diners in the area! Great breakfast specials and nice size portions for dinner. The wait staff are always really friendly which is great since we always have our toddler with us

I love this place! I frequent with coworkers several times a month and used to frequent several times a week(we are budget cutting now). Food is usually very good. Staff is great. I’m always happy to go there :)

As a Route 1 frequent flyer, I find this place a pretty good value, especially for lunch. Generous portions of all your diner favorites, plus soup and pudding dessert accompany most lunch sandwiches and specials. I’ve always enjoyed the food as well. If you’re in the area and haven’t tried them, I’d recommend you do.

We were a large group(~12 people) looking to grab a quick meal close to 10 pm on a Wednesday. Needless to say, our options were limited, and we ended up at Route 1 Diner. They were able to seat us almost immediately which was fantastic. They also had no problem splitting checks for the group as some of us had to include our meals on expense reports for work. As a waitress in a past life, I realize this is a huge pain, so their willingness was much appreciated. The food was as expected; it’s pretty difficult to mess up typical diner food. There was a weird moment when the waitress got snappy with one of us though. A friend ordered a cheesesteak, and it came out as chopped steak on a roll sans cheese. He asked if she could take it back to add cheese, and she got extremely defensive, insisting he never asked for cheese in the first place. She went as far as to bring a menu back to the table to point to what she believed he ordered. It was definitely rude, and no patron should be treated like that. It blew over. He got his cheese. And all was well within 10 minutes. Bottom Line: It’s a diner, and it pretty much meets diner expectations.

Very adequate for some fuel. They aren’t trying to do anything great, but very sufficient.(And 24 hours!)

This diner is superb. Great service and wonderful food. I have had the French onion soup which is perfect every time. I have had the crab cake sandwich on a kaiser roll which was delicious too. I most recently had the cob salad… Large portion included spinach, eggs, olives, bacon, cheese and a wonderful balsamic dressing. The bakery items look fantastic and are baked on premises. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommend this classic New Jersey diner!

My husband and I were fans of Crystal Diner, so when it changed hands to become the Route 1 Diner, we were worried that the charm would be gone. I’m happy to say that our fears were unfounded and Rt. 1 is even better than it’s predecessor. The décor is great – we love the revamp(although I’m an ample-sized lady and find the booths to be a bit tight – that’s my problem though, not the Diner’s). The quality of the food has definitely improved. Everything tastes amazing with breakfast being the stand out – everything is delicious. There’s a reason the parking lot is packed at all hours of the day where before it was pitifully empty. I’m so glad they’re 24 hours again! There aren’t many 24 hour diners in the area and lord knows that’s sad when you’re craving grilled cheese at 2am! It warms my heart to see that on a Saturday morning, it’s hard to find a table(but you won’t have to wait long for one to open up; the service is impeccable). It can get a little loud when it’s packed, but nothing you wouldn’t experience at any other diner during the breakfast/lunch/dinner rushes. Stop in for a bite – you won’t regret it!

Has a bit of scent to the Restuarant but I believe it has some good entrees. I enjoyed though.

We’ve been to the Route 1 Diner twice(and also one time when it was the Crystal) and both experiences were positive. Most recently we had the Turkey Club and the Reuben — both came as a large entrée, plenty of food(so much so, we had to take it home). Overall, it was standard diner fare done right. Good prices, attentive service, and a clean location(cleaned up from when it was the Crystal), plus they’re now open 24 hours. The menu as expected had a ton of options, so I suspect we’ll be back again and again.

They recently change Crystal Diner to Route 1 Diner. The décor also changed, but still have its familiarity. I went there today after the name change. I got a chicken fijita wrap sandwich. It was good. But I felt something was missing. Something to give it an extra taste. The sandwich came with salsa on the side. Once again good, but missing something. Something spicy perhaps. I also ordered the chili, which wasn’t bad. I enjoyed it. The price is decent. A cup of soup is $ 2.99, but a dollar more you can order a bowl of soup. The wrap was $ 7.99 which came with home fries and a small cup of cole slaw. Majority of the wrap sandwiches are $ 7.99, can’t go wrong picking a different wrap. The waiter who served us was friendly with a little over the top personality. They’re still open 24 hours! 3 Stars for good price, variety of food to choose from, and nice décor. The wrap sandwich needs a extra kick in flavor. Maybe I’ll ask for hot sauce next time.
