What a nice little diner! It’s clean and bright, and our waitress was smiling and friendly. Service is fast! We started with soups– chicken rice and vegetable-both were fresh, hot, and delicious. Our waitress told us about the lentil on tues and beef barley on Monday, we will be back! Dinner portions are very generous. Our 8 yr old granddaughter asked if her plate was really from the kids menu! But she ate every bite of her fried flounder and French fries. We ordered a Reuben and chicken croquettes– my diner favorite– and both were piping hot and tasty. We left without having the ice cream or pudding promised with our meals– too full!

Seeing as I was travelling I figured I would try a local spot rather than a franchise. Walking in I couldn’t tell if I was supposed to seat myself or wait, so I awkwardly waited until after about 3 minutes someone noticed me. Unfortunately that lack of attention persisted throughout the entire visit. I had one of the dinner specials — mac and cheese and crabcakes. The crabcakes were good. The mac and cheese was bland. The chicken elbow soup was also bland. The coconut cake was ok, but was mostly whipped cream topping. I will probably give them another chance just to see if I got them on a bad night, but can’t say I am a fan right now.

Don’t order the fried fish it is spoiled AND undercooked. Check other Unilocalers reviews as well. I reported it to manager he dug his fat hands in and took a bite. Then said it was fresh and left it after digging in. I’m sure there is some health dept code against this. My wife tried the heart attack omelette and found a long brown hair inside. We won’t return. It’s a shame they are ruining the«Jersey» diner experience!

I’ve been a patron of this restaurant for a while now. I always request Mary the waitress. However… Several times she was not on shift and the service was less than enjoyable. Tonight we got Gina Marie and she was phenomenal. She anticipated our needs. She knew how to handle our four year old and got her to smile. It was a truly enjoyable experience. Thanks Gina Marie!!!

It didn’t knock my socks off, but this is a solid diner. I’ve only been once, though. I have a friend who lives near there, so I’ll likely be back soon. I ordered a burger and fries, and it was fine. Not complaining, but the burger was the preshaped frozen patty variety; the waitress asked me how I wanted it cooked, and because of its thinness, I imagine it would have been medium-well to well done regardless of my preference, but I’m a medium-well sort of gal, so it worked out well. Burger was not as thin as a fast food joint, but maybe a bit thinner than a Bubba burger — though larger, circumference-wise. Tasty enough, though, and served with tomato, lettuce, and onion. Decent bun, too. Waitress happily accommodated my request for extra pickles, and service overall was quick and efficient. I loved the fries — perfectly crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. I got a cup of chicken orzo, and my friend ordered split pea with our meals. We were both happy with the soup. It was a chilly night and the soup warmed us up. It was my friend’s birthday, so we ordered some chocolate cake after our dinners — this was the weak link of the meal. The cake was kind of dry and crumbly; the frosting was gritty — not sand, but kind of like the sugar didn’t properly blend, or something. I’d definitely visit this diner again but would skip dessert.

My husband and I live close to this diner and eat there often. Very large menu with lots of options. Breakfast is served all day. Portions are large and consistent quality. The french onion soup is hands down the BEST! It’s always piping hot, salty with large pieces of onion, thick piece of bread and a healthy amount of cheese on top. We love it so much sometimes we go there just for this soup! There is never a long wait for your food once ordered. Some waitresses are more attentive than others. Overall a great diner.

Terrific diner ! 64 different omelettes in addition to being able to creating your own ! Coffee is well above average«diner» coffee. French Toast was also very good, 3 large thick pieces that were moist. Added bonus was syrup on the table versus typical corn syrup packs most places give you.

Decent BLT sandwich but the fries are average. This place is a very mainstream diner. My friend got the chicken cheesesteak and ended up hating it. The meat lovers omelet looks decent but the kid didn’t finish it so take that as you will. This place is alittle over priced but the servers are nice. Overall I give this place a 5 out of 10. Just another regular diner.

I ate here for breakfast yesterday while visiting a friend who lives in Ewing. I got 3 pancakes and a bacon egg & cheese breakfast sandwich on an english muffin that also came with home fries. My friend got an Italian omelette that came with home fries and toast(I ended up eating his toast lol). Food came out quicker than I expected, pancakes were cooked well and the breakfast sandwich was perfect. For someone who has a big appetite like me, to be able to get 2 good sized meals for myself for around $ 15 is a deal. And my friend’s omelet was huge and it was less than $ 10. Overall, great value and I’m looking forward to coming back next time I visit my friend for a weekend.

We finally were waited on and mentioned to the waitress that we were on our lunch break so we didn’t have alot of time, so don’t go on your lunch break. My husband ordered fish and it was barely cooked(even the waitress commented that it didn’t look that cooked). We sent it back and didn’t have time to reorder. It took forever for the entrée to be taken off and to make matters the worse ever, this rude female manager came to the register and had the worst attitude and told us there was nothing wrong with the fish. My husband replied it wasn’t cooked and it looked practically undone. This manager aggressively responded,“it wasn’t to YOUR preface”. My husband in response well, isn’t it suppose to be to the customer liking? This so called manger was so rude and nasty, my response to her was and you are the manager, wow, this is the way you treat your customers. Even the waitress at the counter commented, That’s not the way I treat customers. To make matters worse as the manager went back to the bar counter she had the nerve to mumbling things about us. We have never been so disrespected. This manager should not be working as a manager to make sure that other people are warned about eating at this diner because of the bitchy attitude of this manager. Don’t go to this diner you will not only get poor food service, food but the worse manager ever to deal with any issues.

Always impressed by this place. Service is friendly, food is good, what else could you wish for? I always get an omelette there, so I don’t know too much about the rest of the menu, but all I know is the omelettes are great. Only downside is that the booth seating isn’t very comfortable, but that shouldn’t be the deciding factor on whether to go or not. Great for all ages!

The beef liver and eggs is the way to go. It tastes like how a wet dog smells, in a good way. You can also swap your hash browns for pickled beets. Pickled beets, beef liver, eggs. Three super healthy foods together at last, to take me to Mount Olympus!

i wind up in trenton about once a year or so for a week for business and i always make a point of coming to the ewing diner for lunch at least once and many times two or three times. Typical diner with a million offerings but everything has always been good. You are coming for diner food so expect that. Salads, sandwiches, soups, etc. But i have also had a really good chicken pot pie there for lunch and of course good omelettes and eggs of all sorts. Easy to get in and out over a lunch hour and you will definitely be full.

My partner and me went to the Ewing Diner yesterday for a late lunch. We have driven by many times and admired the outside décor. I was surprised and somewhat delighted to actually have to wait for a table: The Place was packed! A good mixture of young and mature folks which normally means: good food! The servers where buzzing around, all very friendly and attentive. I ordered the Pork Roll Sandwich that came with French Fries and soup as a first course. The soup was chicken & noodle, came prompt and was hot and delicious. I do prefer soup with a little more and stronger flavors but for a diner that caters to the mainstream it was what I expected(my chicken noodle soup has more parsley, lemon and stuff in it). The Pork Roll sandwich was not good. Too slices of absolutely DRY rye bread with some thin slices of pork roll in between. No butter or anything just the plan bread and pork roll. How uninspired and I could not eat it without constantly sipping water, that’s how dry it was. French Fries were okay, just regular fries, hot and crispy, needed a dash of salt and a few sprinkles of hot sauce. All in all a good mainstream diner, nothing I would go out of my way for but okay.

Tonight we came here for dinner. Our infant is in the capital health hospital nearby and we needed something simple and close. We were sat and approached by a waitress and ordered coffees. Another waitress, who looked and sounded like a meth addict, came and asked our drinks. The other waitress came back and the 2 proceeded to fight at our table over whose it was. Very low class and tasteless. From that moment our waitress(the first one) was just nasty and rude. I ordered a meatball sand. He ordered an African omelet lol an omelet with tons of sausage. Okaaaayyyyyyy… My sand which was anything but a meatball sub. It was this weird square roll, open faced, with three meatballs on it chopped up… I guess so the slob cook could see if they were done. I’m a philly girl. I know a meatball sand. What that was I have no idea. The sauce was bitter and there was no cheese. I picked it up and it fell apart. I said screw it and chose not to eat the mess. My husbands omelette tasted like it was just filled with hot dogs and was burnt. The waitress never came back to check or refill coffee. When she did, I yd her to take the sandwich. Instead of giving any kind of concern, she was like, well what’s wrong with it? I told her, this isn’t a meatball sand, it’s bitter and soggy. She took it and gave us the check with it still on there. I told management and they took it off. We are not picky snotty people. We actually came here the first night at the hospital at 1 am. No issues. We weren’t looking to be butt kissed but we were tired, stressed out and the last thing we needed tonight was a run in with some shaved head punk waitress with a filthy attitude. She got no tip. And we tip servers very well for simple things like pancakes. And from what I observed, there were other waitresses there just as sloppy. A lot of arguing behind the counter and customers approaching staff on foot for more coffee and checks. It wasn’t even busy. I have diner owners in my family and if I would have known this was going on in our restaurant, she’d been sent home and not invited to return. It’s sad because the owner put so much $$$ into the place then hired trash from the streets to work in it and bring it down.

The Ewing Diner is your basic NJ diner. Massive menu with all the staples and a few fun specials, that unfortunately aren’t vegetarian so I’ve never had the pleasure of trying them. Their substitution policy is inconvenient– I had to BEG for one slice of toast instead of homefries. Wait staff is friendly and attentive on a good day, even though I’ve had a foul-mouthed, foul-spirited waitress at the counter who didn’t think I could hear her dropping f-bombs and complaining about her fellow workers. I will keep going here because it’s convenient and average priced, and because no matter how hard I try, I just can’t get my omelettes to fold like they can.

The place is all diner with limited/inconvenient parking. I’ve tried eating here a few times. Once, I couldn’t find a convenient parking spot, so I went elsewhere. On the second visit, we stopped for breakfast. The menu of breakfast items is typical of most diner breakfast foods. The service was adequate, but we had a long wait for the guest check. Yesterday’s visit was to get a cup of coffee while waiting to go to the West Trenton train station. While there were two stools open at the counter, it took almost 5 minutes for a waitress to appear. I ended up getting the coffee to go. We did buy a loaf of cinnamon bread to enjoy at home when we returned from our shopping trip to Philadelphia. The cashier told us how the freshly-baked bread was just brought up to the counter from downstairs. I was sadly disappointed when I cut into the loaf of bread. I ended up returning it for a refund because it had only one very-thin ribbon of cinnamon buried in the loaf. I don’t expect to return to the Ewing Diner, since my previous experiences were less than satisfactory.

I seem to remember this prefab diner being delivered and installed a few years ago. Nice job making new look retro. It is not as big as I was expecting, but well maintained and definitely creates its own unique carnival-like atmospherics. Stopped in for breakfast recently and took a seat at the counter. Big breakfast menu, and a cup of coffee were placed in front of me before I had a chance to squirm to a comfortable position on the spinner. Impressive attentiveness. The servers wore smiles and were warmly engaging. I opted for a breakfast sandwich on a Kaiser roll. I thought that was all I would get for the reasonable price. However, my waitperson then asked if I wanted Home Fries or Fresh Fruit with it. Potatoes or fruit on top of what was already a big bite. Thinking quickly for that time of day, I suppressed my surprise and inquired if it was possible to have half of each. I wanted to sample more. She nodded in appreciation. Now, most Sausage, Egg and Cheese ‘wiches come with a single sausage patty, one fried egg, and a slice or two of American cheese. Not this baby. It came with two patties, one egg, and a load of melted cheese that had to be three or four slices. The Home Fries took up a third of the large plate, and the Fruit Cup was a nice mix of Cantelope, Watermelon, Pineapple, Grapes, Blackberries and Strawberries. Needless to say, this was more than a single meal, and much more than I wanted to consume early in the morning, so I tasted a bit of everything, but could not finish anything. I had a momentary qualm about the over the top quantity of food, the obesity epidemic in the US, and starvation elsewhere. It felt excessive and indulgent. While everything tasted good, if I return I will make a conscious effort to ask them to give me less.
