This Barbque is the best. The Collard Greens are out of this world. Very friendly staff. I live in Los Angeles, California. I fly back and forth from Ca to DC. I will be going to this Barbque house many more times. I highly recommend this Barbque House!

OUTSTANDING! I wish I had the option of giving them 4.75 stars!!! The .25 deduction is partly due to my mistake of ordering fries from a BBQ establishment. I had to question whether we had fries growing up at our family BBQ events, and the answer was NO!!! They were soaked with grease and severely over-fried. Now on to the finger-licking-good stuff :) I ordered the BBQ chix and the pit beef(we’ve moved away from eating pork, if not… the ribs would have been ours… lol) which were both very moist and full of flavor! I chose the Mac-n-cheese and collard greens for our sides; I could have gone and lived in the collard green pot. They were the best greens, that I’ve ever had from any restaurant! 5 thumbs up! My other half is a mac-n-cheese snob, if it isn’t cheesy and moist, he WILLNOT eat it… needless to say, there wasn’t a noodle left!!! The personnel were friendly; I even had a conversation with one of the owners who shared the history of the restaurant and culinary style(he reassured me that I would love the home cooked collard greens, and he couldn’t have been any more correct) Definitely worth having a «comfort food» moment!!!

Oh, Bar-B-Que House, such a bitter sweet review. EVERYTHING was good, now just most of the stuff is. The bar-b-que is of course good! Ribs, turkey(favorite!), pork, beef, burgers? Delicious! Sides? Good! Corn bread? GOFORIT! But then they tried some new things that should not have been tried. I got The Spider Roll, soft shell crab fried in too big for it roll, with a delicious sauce, and home made pickles. It all went wrong when I saw it. They should have used a kaiser roll, the steak roll was too big for it. And the soft shell crab? It was not good… at all. The crab itself have good flavor, the whole frying thing did not work. It tasted as though they used the same fryer that they cooked their fries, and chicken in. Seafood should always have a separate fryer, i unfortunately know from culinary school. Calamari was slightly over cooked, but oh my LAWD! The sweet, tangy and spicy sauce they had next to it was AMAZING! If it wasn’t 2 in the morning, I would be making a stop, got me craving the Bar-B-Que house! But other then some small things, I would highly recommend it! Maybe not the whole soft shell crab, but defiantly everything else is delicious, and prices are always welcoming.

The food never disappoints. Absolutely delicious each and every time I have been. I am kind of sad that they have cut back on their menu, but the last time I went they were more than happy to accomodate my request for an item from the old menu. I love their cashier/hostess/maitre’d. She’s so sweet and personable. This place is definitely a town gem.

I was unable to bring myself to eat my food here … The cook’s nails were almost half an inch long and without gloves … caked with grease while he was handling the food, register and a dirty phone. Additionally, the cook/cashier/greeter was barely communicative and seemed like he didn’t want to be there. I feel I should have reported the business, but decided to just never visit it again. Maybe I caught them at a bad moment, but really … if this is one of those moments, imagine how many clumps of refrigerated precooked meat, those nails have dug into.

I got a groupon for this place and when I finally went in to try, I was very impressed! The place doesn’t look like much from the outside but when you walk in, it’s almost surprising– cute, charming, inviting, and VERY clean. This is a small family owned business but the service was truly outstanding. The lady at the counter was so friendly and walked me through the entire menu. She even went above and beyond to explain the sauces and everything else. I was HIGHLY impressed by this because I am a huge believer that good service is rare these days. I ordered the«Belly Buster» because I wanted to be fat and try everything. The ribs were GREAT. Some of the best I’ve had. The meat is good quality and falls off the bone. Good sauce too. The chicken was also pretty tasty. The pork BBQ sandwich was good but did not blow my mind away. I did not like the rice much but the mac and cheese was good. It’s made with pepper jack rather than the traditional pepper jack so it was different. I also got a slice of the lemon cake for dessert and it was to DIE for. Just delicious and moist and fresh. Overall, I can’t wait to go back and try something else. The service was the best part to me so I will definitely support anytime.

This is the kind of whole in the wall, family-run place that makes you love food. It is definitely unassuming on the outside and has simple décor on the inside but what matters is what you get from behind the counter: good food and good service. I’ve tried both the BBQ Beef and Pork sandwiches. The pork is definitely my recommendation. A friend had the ribs and thought they were okay. The pork was tender and the BBQ sauce is flavorful. The sides are what stand out though. The mac and cheese, baked beans, and skillet-fried corn bread have been outstanding each visit. They have a big selection of sides to choose from too. I haven’t seen it busy yet but we’ve always come right at the beginning of their lunch hours. There is a TV that always had the Food Network playing and some simple tables and chairs. Again, don’t judge this place by what the dining area looks like. I know Maryland and BBQ don’t really go together but this is the best BBQ I’ve had in the area in several years. Give it a shot if you are up in Laurel.

This is the kind of place that has all the marks of a good cozy food joint. Looks ghetto on the outside, corny on the inside. Typical hole in the wall. But the ribs here are preettyy good. A half rack is about 7 bones and has a nice crisp char on the outside while still being moist and fall off the bone on the inside. The BBQ sauce is also on point. The baked beans and potato salad were good too. Prices are decent considering the amount of food u get. A full rack with two large sides is $ 25 including tax. And their sweet tea is like 50% sugar. It is real sweet. Some may not like that but I think it tastes bomb. Will be back for sure.

This place sucks. When you go to a BBQ place… what do you expect to see outside??? Smoke… either coming from a grill or coming from a chimney from an indoor grill. If you don’t see that… then it probably isn’t authentic BBQ. EVERYTHING I had wasn’t awful. Ribs, chicken, mac and cheese, and fries! It wasn’t even closing time and they were reheating my food. Like I swear my ribs were placed on a flat iron and reheated! Who does that? I guess because this is MD people don’t really know BBQ like in the Deep South. I mean I wouldn’t recommend this place to my enemy. The mac and cheese wasn’t homemade… like really? Kill yourself… Fries were just crinkle fries… could have went to giant food to get those myself. Ribs I believe were made the day before… Chicken…dry as saw dust… Sauce…uh…hated it. I won’t be back… And the even more ridiculous thing about this place is that they are down street from the Laurel Meat Market where they could buy fresh meat and cook it daily… guess that isn’t the in thing to do. I really do hate this place, every time I pass it I wish I could revoke their business license and send the cooks to culinary school.

May I move into this glorious house of bar-b-que? If it means I get to have ribs every day, then I’ll gladly pay rent to the friendly owner and staff. Much of what everyone else says is true, but here’s the deal: Order the ribs *without* sauce. The wimpy sauce ruins what could be a beautiful experience. The ribs are well cooked and flavorful on their own. Sometimes, I bring a small container of Stubb’s bbq sauce for dipping, but it’s not completely necessary. Now, the first time I dined here, the greens were just okay. Every time after that, they’ve been amazing. The other sides are okay, though I’ve not tried the onion rings yet. My friends tell me the barbecue chicken is delicious. So, four stars for meaty, juicy, tender, awesome ribs; greens so good that any Southern mama would be jealous; yummy barbecue chicken; and a great staff; and minus one star for the other so-so sides.

Sorry I can’t get excited about this place. I visited last Saturday(11÷10÷12) and ordered the beef platter with mac and cheese and baked beans. The«beef’ looked like sliced boiled beef, sort of a white-grey color, slavered in their sauce. It was tough and had absolutely no smoked bbq flavor. Even with the addition of their table sauce(hot or mild), there was no saving the beef. There was a lot of it though. Save some for Fido. The mac and cheese came from Kraft and the baked beans were sort of tangy. I think most people in Maryland don’t know what BBQ is. get educated! Go to Mission BBQ in Glen Burnie. That place rocks!

Best BBQ Beef I have ever had. I am from NY originally but I am a fan of BBQ. The NC vinegar based sauce is the bomb and great for dippin’. The baked beans are also awesome but everything I had was pretty good.

Great food and a great price. I was really impressed with this casual and laid-back mom and pop place. The food takes a while to come out because it’s not ready-made. Cooked on order and you can taste the difference. It’s worth the wait.

I always thought Laurel didn’t have much to offer, then I ate at the Bar-B-Que house… The food here is delicious, the service is friendly, and the price is right. Lunch Special FTW! Pit Beef or BBQ Pork Sandwich w/Fries for 6 doll hairs and some change. Also get some Mac & Cheese and Cornbread, it’s all legit. WARNING: Consuming the aforementioned BBQ may cause extreme lethargy. aka The Itus. Do it up!

Yummy! I really enjoyed our delicious lunch today. The guy at the counter seemed friendly enough but didn’t say much to us, and it was definitely a little bit of a wait, but it was worth it! Ordered the sampler, and the ribs fell of the bone, and wow it was so tasty! Very good flavor on the ribs and the pulled pork, but the chicken was a little dry. The cornbread was good at first when it was warm, but after sitting for about 10 minutes, it was hard as if it had been left out for awhile. My philly was very good, but the meat was dry or something. It just didn’t taste like cheesesteak, but it did taste good. We will definitely be back– didn’t think I could get good bbq away from texas!

As every body else has said, been by this place a million times. The biggest and best steak and cheese that I have had in a long time. It was 8 bucks. Fry’s were great also. As people said they do charge 25c for refills, but for a mom and pop spot what do you expect? Friendly staff, even on the way out the door!

I took my mom here for dinner on a Saturday evening. I was a little concerned that, with the size of the place, it might be too crowded, but I guess we got there at a good time because there were only a few other people there. I was trying to find a place in the area with a little character, but it seems like we only have fast food and national chains. Anyway, I basically picked this place because I saw the word«cornbread» in a review. So I ordered a pit turkey sandwich and two pieces of cornbread. My mom, as she is wont to do, asked the guy«is your cornbread good?» Naturally he replied, «the best.» I was skeptical, but it turned out to be probably the best cornbread I’ve ever had. Very moist. At first I was looking around for butter to put on it, but after the first bite I decided that it would’ve been superfluous anyway. My sandwich was pretty good too… the kind of BBQ where half of the meat falls out of the sandwich and you wind up making a big mess, but I think that’s part of the experience. Four stars because you have to pay a quarter for refills on fountain drinks, which are kind of expensive in the first place($ 2.29 for a large.) That’s really more of a half-star ding, but I can’t do that, so four stars it is. Overall, I like the place and I’ll probably be back.

I have to admit as well, that I too passed by this barbeque shack many times, but after reading all these wonderful Unilocal reviews, I had to see what all the buzz was about, plus; I was hankering for some good barbeque. Though it’s a small place, business was brisk when my family and I ate there for dinner. The cars soaring past the restaurant, provided a nice breeze to where we were sitting — restaurant location, right off RTE1. A very friendly, smiling man took our order: I got a half a slab of ribs, with sides of collard greens, mac & cheese, cornbread, lemonade, golden cake with chocolate icing and the sweet potato pie. I know I must be sounding like a female sumo wrestler, but I did share and the desserts were brought home. Also, in order to provide a decent review, I had to sample; I did this for Unilocal. I kinda wished there was a slathering of tangy, spicy sauce to go along with those meaty ribs, which seemed to have been cooked previously and merely heated up. I’m one of those gals that likes a sticky, tangy slathering of sauce and then some. The collard greens were perfectly seasoned and cooked. There’s nothing worse than mushy greens. I would stop by again, just to get those collards. I found the mac & cheese to be homey and tasting homemade. The corn bread was moist, with just the right amount of sweet. My kid and I fought over the desserts: a slice of chocolate iced golden cake and sweet potato pie. The pie had just come out of the oven. It was still warm when we brought it home and not yet firm, but that didn’t stop my 12-yr-old from devouring it in five very large forkfuls. I gave this restaurant three stars due to the lackluster ribs; I mean, isn’t that what barbeque is, after all?

I went right in the middle of lunch time and it was very busy, but I did manage to find a table. It was loud and somewhat frantic in there, but holy cow the food was fantastic. I got a pit beef with cheese, onions and horseradish along with french fries and a small order of hot wings. The pit beef was so juicy and tender and absolutely overflowing with meat. I give that an A+++++++. The fries were doused with old bay and perfectly crispy. There were two options of BBQ sauce(hot and mild) on each table and I loaded my fries up with the hot sauce and they were excellent. The wings were not bad, but I should have gotten them BBQ or even plain. I wouldn’t think a BBQ place would specialize in buffalo style hot wings.

Man, I have driven past this place at 1,000 times, and I can remember thinking that I need to check them out at least 500 times. I am not happy that I waited years to try this. So, as you read these reviews there is a theme about not being much to look at; it is 100% true. It is a dive. So what? It also is some of the best comfort food outside the home. I had the BBQ beef and it was really good. But the sides were really the stars. The Mac and Cheese was good and cheesy, and the collard greens were really good. They also have a homemade pepper vinegar that goes with the greens. I also really enjoyed my wife’s fries. Let me talk about cornbread. Being a country boy I have some real serious problems with cornbread made north of Knoxville. But this was really good, in fact it was one of the few cornbread’s I have liked up here. I am ready to go back! Who is with me?
