I have always liked this course even when it was only a 9 hole layout. For over 20 years now it has been 18 holes. Last week my weekday cart and green fee was $ 20 and the course was practically deserted. No sand traps on this course but some water hazards along with some tight fairways and some other vegetation obstacles makes this a fun and somewhat challenging course. Sure sometimes the navy training jets flying nearby can be a little noisy but it’s not really that bad. There is a driving range that doesn’t allow drivers to be used because it is only 290 yards long. Eat at the Sandtrap Grill for breakfast or lunch. There is a small pro shop there and showers are available in the locker rooms. The only negative for a civilian playing here is stopping at the guard shack for a pass. They have to do a background check that takes about 10 minutes and is good for the next 6 months. Be sure your car has no weapons or contraband. You will be asked when passing the guard gate and could be checked.
