Sometimes you don’t want to bump into kids at the lazy river or wave pool. If you decide you want something that’s a little more intimate or even want to play chess, this is the place to be. You can lounge on a hammock or beach chair and soak up the sun. The service is quicker as there as less patrons and it is more exclusive if you’re a guest if the Delano. They even have different beach towels. I love this pool and will definitely come back again when in town. You’re a resortist! Enjoy the pools!

The pools at Mandalay attract a large crowd at pretty much any time of day, and a significant amount of people arrive right when everything opens in order to secure seats. Our first time exploring the wave pool, regular pool, and lazy river left us searching for seats for 15 minutes, eventually finding two on the end of the lazy river next to the hut where they rent /blow up tubes. Yay for seats, but not super relaxing. The Delano Beach Club, on the other hand, always had seats available. The vibe was considerably more laid back, and the pool was much less crowded. I was able to get a seat here each time I went, even at consistently different times of the day. The seats themselves were newer than most of the rest found throughout the Mandalay property, and were definitely more comfortable. Waitstaff were consistently circulating, taking drink and food orders, and there was free water and bathrooms within 25 steps of just about every seat. You do have the opportunity to reserve a «choice» lounge chair or cabana, but if you don’t want to spend anything extra, there isn’t really any need to. There were open ones every time I was down there. This, however, is a summer review — given it was 110 outside, the heat might have thinned the crowds a bit. If you are coming when it’s a little cooler… it might be a little more crowded /harder to find a seat, but I don’t think it would be any louder or less relaxing than it was for us. Any way you look at it, you’ll likely get a chair, there will be sun, and you’ll have no less than two giant, golden buildings to stare at and wonder what the penthouse suites must look like.

We normally hit up the larger Mandalay pool for relaxing and people watching but at 11:30 am on a Saturday it was completely packed. We decided try the smaller Delano pool and thought we were screwed, all of the chairs had towels on them and we assumed they were reserved. Wrong, the staff puts a towel out on each chair as a service so there were plenty of places to lounge. The only downside of this area is that the chairs are packed in so either get and end spot or really like the people next to you. Unlike the Mandalay pool where the two cocktail servers couldn’t be bothered with anyone not on a large party, the Delano cocktail servers were on top of things, very friendly always checking on us and we never had an empty drink. The drinks available are also different, the watermelon mule was extremely refreshing and packed a boozey punch. At $ 16 in the refillable souvenir cup it was well worth the price. As a side note if you’ve been here before and purchased the cup bring it back, ours were the same as last year but we assumed they would have changed so we left them at home. They also have chilled water for guests, which was another unexpected and nice touch. Another thing about this pool is less kids, it’s not as child friendly no room for running, jumping, pool toys or splashing so it is way more laid back and relaxing. They do have a DJ and to our surprise it wasn’t douchey or too loud, if you are worried about this turning into an actual club don’t. I do wish we hit up this pool sooner on our three day adventure but now we know for next time.

I rented a cabana. It was nice. A group of 4 families suddenly showed up sharing the cabana next to us and quickly began to crowd us out but the staff quickly moved us to a more secluded area which was much appreciated. The pool area is a bit over-crowded but it is clean and the staff were very effective. I would appreciate it more if they considered making that area adults-only but I suspect that is unlikely.

The pool are is small I arrived about noon only to find no available loungers except those marked reserved. I was two staff members about getting a reserved lounger with umbrella neither claimed to know anything and pointed at a booth Their is no shade unless you rent a longer or cabana

It’s Mandalay’s old pool that is now secluded and left only for those staying at Delano. It has gone through some remodeling since the old pool and there is some cool chess pieces for you to mess around with by the pool. It does start to get crowded around 9 or 10 so if you want a chair, make sure you come early. Staff is nice and greets you at the entrance and does stop by once in awhile to check on things if you order. Downside is that it isn’t as big as you would expect for a pool that is set aside for guests of Delano. Either way you can’t really go wrong here as you’re in Vegas by the pool so just kick back, order some drinks, and enjoy it!
