Walked b the place a million times, stopped in to see what band was playing, Very nice people, will be back there.

Although I’ve lived here since 2012, I just made it to the Bunkhouse for the first time. It’s quite a nice place. I’ve been told that the original Bunkhouse, which seemed to be classified as a dive bar closed a few years ago and reopened under the umbrella of the Downtown project and Tony Hsieh’s vision of an urban utopia. Long time fans of this place had mixed reviews. It then proceeded to close again and reopen in it’s current state. It has a very nice(and large) outdoor patio with a food stand out back. The sound is great and the drinks are priced reasonably. I was especially happy to be able to drink $ 2 Hamm’s cans all night! I might be wrong, but it also seemed smoke free and I didn’t see any ashtrays either. Maybe that’s what the patio is for? Either way, I appreciated the fresh air! So although I’ll never know what I missed at the previous incarnation of The Bunkhouse, I know now that this is a good spot to see live music in the vicinity of DTLV and I’ll definitely come back.

One of the better live music venues in town. My biggest complaints are the distance from the rest of Fremont and the cover. They provide nice music on the weekends and the bar is solid, but there is usually a nice cover to get in. Most other places in town don’t have a cover, but I guess that’s the reason they have actual live music and real artists. They also have a back area to chill outside and play some games. Overall not a bad place, but it is niche for that live music lover who doesn’t want to bar hop.

I am spoiled. Seeing a band at the Bunkhouse has now ruined me from seeing a band or show at any other venue. Great sound, great atmosphere, great drinks & staff. It’s even fun to just show up and walk in not knowing who’s playing. Chances are, you’ll be a fan by the end of the night after a few cocktails. 6÷6÷16 Deduct a star or two for them being sneaky and using 12 oz. «pint» glasses. Just lame.

Bunkhouse recently reopened(again) but this weekend took it up a notch by adding their in-house restaurant«Bite» by Chef Natalie, proprietor or Eat and Chow, all in DTLV. On its first day, Super Bowl Sunday, they offered a limited game day menu with nachos, wings, mac&cheese balls — very much a bar menu. I’m not a huge bar food fan but since it’s game day, I splurged. Everything came out fast and perfect. The garlic-chili sauce chicken wings were great– not too sweet or heavy. The mac&cheese balls were a decadent treat, and the nachos were light and tasty. Perfect with their Bloody Mary. Really looking forward to their expanded menu which should be coming soon.

This and atomic liquors at the best bars downtown! From the options to order drinks inside or outside, the live music, the fun outdoor seating such as an old pickup truck that has been redesigned with a table in the truck bed and a large tree with working headphones that hang from the branches and play different types of music from one set of headphones to the next — this place is the most unique and whimsical bar I’ve had the pleasure to visit.

I’m still pretty new to Vegas overall but I work downtown and am slowly falling in love with Fremont East. Living in Vegas is super cool but even«local» joints can feel stuffy and overdone. The Bunk House is not that place. Really minimal insides, leather couches, clean modern bathrooms, an array of picnic tables and a killer happy hour. I didn’t stay for the show but I wish I had. Killer happy hour & friendly bar staff, a must see if you ask me!

Awesome local bar in downtown Las Vegas. The staff are great and the owner Jillian is super nice and cool. The venue itself is amazing. Great sound, lots of space and a huge outdoor area. It’s an all around great place to drink and have a good night.

Overpriced drinks, DJs that ask for a tip, not my cup of tea. It’s more like your partying in some bodies house instead of a business, unless you know somebody there you’ll get treated like you don’t matter.

Total dive feel but nice and clean with great music coming through this spot. I’ve seen great artists play intimate shows here. Pretty cheap beer and they have a nice outdoor area as well to hangout in which is really nice since the interior of the venue is pretty small. Check out their events calendar!

I live in Green Valley and I hate Hipsters. So when I was wrangled into heading Downtown I was less than enthusiastic. That was until I ended up in this little piece of Heaven on earth. Great set up. Huge outside with picnic tables and a bomb ass old Dodge pick up with a table in the back. So if you’re not down with legit live music or want to smoke, you’re set. The band playing was fantastic. I just got back from Coachella and they were better than many of the bands I passed there! BTW’s one of the best acts I saw at Coachella was at the Bunkhouse the Thursday before. The sound is nothing short of epic for such an unassuming venue. Good selection of cold brews. I love Schlitz. Don’t judge. But they had a fully locked and loaded bar and beer selection. The food. The food. There almost aren’t words. The fried grits and gravy and sloppy joe fries induced multiple foodgasms. The chef is from another local restaurant that I’ve heard raves about and the raves were accurate. And finally, the bartenders. A plus plus plus. Charlie recommended the food choices and he was on point. He was also hilarious and was so pleasant we ended up closing the place down. Also, check out their special events. Anything that includes the Mighty Mighty Bostones, kiddie pools and 40“s is winning. I will be back. A lot.

I love a proper dive bar and I love seeing live music. One of the only problems with that combination is often that the music often suffers due to technological deficiencies. Bunkhouse Saloon is the perfect marriage of the two. It is a dive bar in spirit(and price) but the sound system is top notch and well designed for the intimate space. With a 250 person capacity in a room that probably shouldn’t be holding more than 200 at the very most, be prepared to be packed like sardines in here depending on the band/night. I saw Built to Spill(w/Braided Waves) here on a Monday night and the place was packed to the gills. But the sound and sight lines were excellent from everywhere in the venue that I went. You can even hear the music outside in the spacious outdoor courtyard(with separate bar). They have Hamm’s on tap(first bar I have ever seen this at, I am from Michigan). A bunch of other great taps and bottled & canned beers, plus a perfectly serviceable liquor collection. They also have a small variety of odds & endsy hipstery menu items to choose from, such as Deviled Eggs and Sloppy Joe’s. Prices, as previously mentioned, are perfectly reasonable. Whether you are a local or in town for business/pleasure, definitely look up who is playing at the Bunkhouse and make your way over here if there is anyone you’re interested in seeing. Great club!

I have seen a lot of amazing bands and artist here, the Mapes, Bob Mould, the Freeze, Dead To Me, MDC, and the Crowd… etc. I even caught the Minutemen documentary«WEJAMECONO» at this place. The drinks are reasonable, the bartenders are friendly, and the venue is just the right size. Whether it is punk rock or butt rock this is an excellent place to check out bands…

After hearing so many great thing’s about the newly updated bunkhouse we finally earned our freedom from the Minnion’s and it was time for a night in the DTLV. After making the rounds to many other DTP sites we decided to finish the fiesta at the Bunkhouse Saloon. So glad we did to say the least. Getting to the NEW entrance requires you to walk down this back alley, which 5 years ago you would not even dare to do so. We were kindly greeted by a Security Guard /Doorman who checked our Id’s. Good thing I didn’t give the Broad Acres swap meet one… JK. The backyard area was really cool. They had picnic tables all over to enjoy the great nights we have in Vegas. Another thing that was really cool was the old pick up truck where the bed was converted into a booth or bench seat for a group to just chill. Very unique and cool feature. Also outside you can here whatever music is being played inside on the premium sound system that they upgraded throughout the entire place. The one thing I did not enjoy was the cover charge at the door. Boo! Oh well I guess the talent has to be compensated somehow. We came on a night when«The Donkey’s» and another band from Houston were playing. What a great time we had. The music was great with very talented musicians, and the crowd was good people, not too many of them… but they were all there for a good time. We had several beers on tap and they had a decent selection which was reasonably priced. Our group ordered some fried pickles to munch on while enjoying the entertainment. The pickles were spears instead chips like I have been used to but they were good. At least what I remember from that night. Overall«The Bunkhouse» is the place to be if you are looking for a fun night out on the town. Check their website to see when your favorite artist will perform. The sound stage is high quality and they know how to tune it right. It is also a very small venue for that intimate setting. Or just go and have a good time any olé night. You will enjoy.

The Bunkhouse like most of downtown has been given a total makeover courtesy of good ol’ Zappos. Get used to it, folks, Tony Hseih and his army are slowly turning it into #dtlv into his personal nerdy, hipster haven. Now, we have a hole in the wall venue that serves out some tasty bites(that’s right folks bunkhouse is now nonsmoking), craft beers, and serves as a space for traveling talent from bands, to sideshow acts, to comedians, the Bunkhouse tries to add punk rock to downtown, but it’s just a little too hip and trendy for that. The entrance while there is a show is a little sketch which will have you walking around corners and down an alley, but thanks to the Downtown Rangers(which is just a gang of people dressed like security officers to keep an eye out on the shady handling that occurs downtown), it doesn’t feel quite as sketch, but it’s still super sketch. There’s a permanent silent disco outside. Sets of headphones dangling from a tree, with lights making them obvious. Picnic tables are outside as well as a counter to order food and drinks. It’s not the old, gross, punk rock Vegas staple, but it’s still a solid venue and addition to dtlv.

The«Tree of Life» or as I call it «Listening Tree» is the most impressive and unique idea to me. Headphones dangling from a tree plays different music. I gave it a try and heard all kinds of music– hip hop, pop, country, kids music, stand up comedy, and more. At night it looks more pretty with the lights. Originally opened in 1953, this Bunkhouse was reopened after being revitalized by Tony Hsieh’s Downtown Project. The large outdoor area has a booth for eating and drinking in the bed of a 50’s pick up truck. I found that and the décor so cool. There is a window with complete access to the bar and kitchen, if you chose to stay outside. The piano outside was colorful. The food are not as many choices, but what is has, it does well. Slow-cooked turkey, pork, beef and vegetarian sloppy joes, hand and cheese sandwiches served with a bacon-jalapeño jam, Mac and cheese and deviled eggs. The menus focuses on a sort of down-home country style that serves the rustic character of the place. I had no complain of the food either. This place is touted for indie-rock live music. There were 7 of us and we were planning to see who was interested in going inside to see the bands. It’s $ 10 per ticket and they told us they will give us $ 30 total. If you decide to stay outside you can still hear the music. I couldn’t stay as I had to volunteer tomorrow but my friends stayed. I love this place.

This place has been redone and it looks awesome inside with the interior. So much room inside but tons of space to chill outside as well. The lights of the sounds tree give off a great glow when you are outside. Fast and friendly bartenders. They serve food and I had eaten before I went or otherwise I would have liked to try their food as well. Went when there were two bands playing and it was enjoyable because it is a smaller and intimate venue. Although there is quite a variety of people that stopped in during the couple of hours that I was there, I think it adds to the charm of the bunkhouse.

What an awesome little music hideaway! Seeing the venue from the street view just made me think that this place might be leaning towards the sketchy side… which threw me off because the lineup of events is quite stellar! First thing — the entrance and parking us behind the venue… which is an entirely different world. Bunkhouse is like a discovery zone! Upon entry, there is an old piano that you can play. TONS of spaced out outdoor seating… looks like chairs and tables collected from yard sales and thrift shops but it’s super cool! There is also a music tree to your left. The music tree is fantastic at night! There are about a dozen headphones hanging from lights on that tree… each one featuring a different genre of music/sound. We listened to each of them and found some favorites. While outside you can also order food and drinks at their outdoor bar. We learned that you don’t have to pay cover to play outside… there are speakers surrounding the outdoor space so that you can hear what’s going on inside. But if there is an event, the cover will be charged when you go to enter the actual building. Inside the building is a stage(on the smaller side) seemingly set for more intimate feeling shows. There’s a full service bar, tables that line the walls and a nice sized area in the middle to dance and/or crowd around the stage. The bar has seating surrounding it — kind of a U shape. They have a nice selection of beer, wish they had more draft selections, but thats the beer snob in me. Inside there were flyers saying that every night(didn’t give a specific time) the draft beers are $ 3. :) Our first trip to Bunkhouse was for a local hip hop artist showcase but we will be returning for a DJ event in November. I will be sure to update my review then! As of now though, I am a fan of Bunkhouse. Can’t wait to try what their kitchen has to offer!

I came to see our friends, The Grenades, supporting them gathering up momentum. They’re a local band bit theh have some serious bavkong with tracks produced by Soundgarden and guest musicians like Josh Frieze on their album. Anyways, I never made it to the Bunkhouse before it closed its doors, Ive only come just now in its new incarnation opened up by the Downtown Project. It’s small inside with a bar and some tables. Standard bar and tap offerings and they also serve some finger foods and sandwiches. I already ate but someones fried pickles and onion rings looked quite nice. Sound inside during the show was pretty good. They need to do something about how a stage light is pointing directly at the audience the whole time blinding you. Outside though is quite spacious with lots of tables and chairs and a walk up bar. Theres a cute feature of a «listening tree» with varioud headphones. I listened to all of them and the range was wide. I heard everything from gangsta rap(NWA), to some country to world music, broadway, creepy musical scores, classic rock and a childrens choir. This would be a lovely place to go hangout on a nice weather night. If you park on the street with the tattoo shop, you have to walk all the way around to the alley to get in. We made this mistake thinking we got a upfront parking spot. At least we didnt walk far to leave as thats the exit. I looked at the music lineup and this place has promise as a music venue worth something. I am so damn excired Self/Matt Mahaffey will be playing here for 6 weeks as Ill be here every week. If you dont know who that is, get familiar. This place has a lot of promise. I’ll update after visiting for a few shows but so far so good.

Great new venue that came back from the dead! The bartenders are nice, the place is nonsmoking! and the tree of sound… even though its uprooted right now… was awesome. Cheap prices for beer I noticed!!! The outdoor patio is quite impressive and a cool place to hangout. LADIES it’s dirt right now so sandels and heels will get dusty!!! It’s small but under control. They do not oversell and pack it ridiculous. I will complain about the parking and walking situation. We parked behind the market and tattoo place and then realized that we had to walk up to Freemont and then back down the alley to get into the venue that way :(FAIL :(I explained to DTP vip’s that they need to have Rangers on the walking path all the way not just at the alley entrance. BUT!!! I’m sure that will be resolved when the front Freemont facing white building is renewed and(business soon to be announced :) will be open. Security inside and out and PLENTY of cameras everywhere to keep the place safe. The menu is quite impressive for bar food and there is even several sloppy Joe choices… like veggie!!! Thanks chef and Stratman!

Another Downtown Project successfully completed! I was fortunate enough to visit the former Bunkhouse and I think this place took a 180 degree! Lots to do and see :) When you enter from the back gate, you’ll notice the backyard FILLED with different stuff. Lots of seating, picnic tables, a piano and a tree with dangling lines attached to headsets. This place offers Silent Disco! When you walk in, you’ll notice a new stage for live music, a newly renovated rectangular bar, filled with bartenders and sitting/standing space. High top tables line the wall along with memorabilia on the wall and other olden day art. This place seems soo accommodating, both for an inside preference and outside alike. The walk is a bit far from Fremont East, however, only one block from Atomic. You need to check this place out pronto! You will love this place :)
