came to try the jalapeño watermelon margarita, which they couldn’t make. our waiter didn’t seem prepared for us showing up(~20 or so after opening). we had to get our own menus and silverware. wasn’t too sure about what came in their foods or the portions. maybe he was new? or maybe it was just because, perhaps, that this place is located inside of a hotel that the influx of people is slow/random. the food was pretty good! what i expected of the burger i got(though happy to see a fried egg burger somewhere besides red robin) BUT – not at the price it was offered. i believe it was only one of two meals that were $ 10. two stars for poor hosting/prices. the fries were at least the . not mad about picking it for a random stop on a quick trip to nm. maybe someone else will get better service than us! and that margarita. damn it. haha.

My fiancée and I stopped by here on our way to San Diego and absolutely loved it. It is a beautiful décor, the waitress was on point and the food was delicious. The only thing I didn’t understand is why there weren’t more people here! I had the Mexican style steak and my fiancée had the Mexican style chicken. Highly recommend.

Sorry, a strawberry fields salad should not cost $ 14. I get the convenience factor but this was ridiculous. Especially if all it contained be is old lettuce, a few pieces of strawberries and burnt pecans. I had to go find the staff to make an order. The staff was friendly however seemed to be to busy to address their customer. By the way… I was the only customer they had. Not impressed. In addition to this the restaurant is in a very old Ramada inn which definitely shows its age. Very overpriced! The high school lunch lady that made my salad seems to have a really bad attitude.

My boyfriend and I decided to stay in Las Cruces for the night to break up a long drive. We looked on Unilocal and saw that this restaurant got really good reviews. When we came, there was no one here, so we were a little hesitant to stay. Fortunately, we sat down and our server, Gustavo(I think that was his name), was extremely friendly and very helpful. The food was delicious and exactly what we wanted after a long day of driving.

They make an excellent old fashioned. Totally satisfied. The bartenders are friendly the place is not too busy that you can’t get a seat and you can watch the game on TV. They have the good stuff.

We are visiting Las Cruces with an idea to moving here and were looking for a restaurant close to our motel and happened on this. The food is wonderful and there are some unusual dishes. I had scallops in a green chile sauce that were fantastic. A mango chili margarita was different and refreshing with fresh mango. The restaurant has open ceilings and looks like a small patio in a village with wrought iron balconies overlooking the space. Sign outside doesn’t say Sapphire yet, and there isn’t much in the way of advertising. I think if they get the word out, this restaurant will be packed most nights! We will probably be back before the week is over.

We are staying in the hotel, and happened to check out the bar tonight. The décor is awesome– vintage Spanish style. The back bar and stools are original to the 70s when the hotel was built. I had the watermelon jalapeño margarita which I can’t recommend enough. The bartender is friendly and awesome. Definitely check this place out!

The first thing to know is that the sign outside the hotel give no indication that the Sapphire is inside(As of 8÷14÷14, it says Sabor, the name of the previous establishment). If you are at the Ramada with a lot of palm trees, you are in the correct place. Enter through the hotel lobby. The second thing to know, is that there is no asia fusion food in this place, although Unilocal says there is. I assume that is a holdover from the previous restaurant at this location. My wife and I are locals. We eat here once or twice a month. There are several things we like about the place. For one, it usually is quiet. The ambiance is exceptional. The menu is a bit limited, compared to other places, but everything is very good. They did a nice job of offering selections that will be familiar to most people, yet with local touches. For example, you can get the steak with a green chile topping, sort of like what some places call Tampico style. The creativity of the menu items is reminiscent of some places in Santa Fe. Another notable thing about this place, is that it is low-carb friendly. For example, you can get steak with two vegetable sides. This includes calabacitas, which are excellent. If you are new to Mexican food, you should try these.(Too few places offer good vegetable side dishes.) The southwest corn is also very good. I also like the scallops and the chicken. My wife likes the enchiladas(and she is picky when it comes to enchiladas.) The only dessert I’ve had there, is the green chile apple pie. I know it sounds strange, but don’t be afraid to try it!
