My family and I have been coming to Rays for over 20 years. This is the best Chinese restaurant for miles around maybe the best I’ve ever had. It is also the most authentic. I love staying to eat because the service is so great, but the take out is just as amazing. They use all fresh vegetables and nothing cheaply made. I get chicken and vegetables and there’s asparagus corn carrots broccoli etc. The meat is better and of higher quality than any other Chinese restaurant around. It is cooked perfectly as well. The sauces are never too thick and they are just lick the plate delicious. If you’re looking for delicious Chinese food then you NEED to go to Rays!!!

Easily the best Chinese delivery I’ve had since moving to the area, possibly best in my life. Speedy delivery, reasonable prices, and most delicious I’ve ever had. Going to be our go-to option for sure.

You would have no idea from the 1970s décor that this place would be such a worthwhile destination for Chinese food. This is good, old fashioned, American chinese food, but without all the grease that most Chinese restaurants add. The quality of the ingredients at Rays is higher than you’d expect and the food always hits the mark. We rarely eat in the restaurant, but it is great for take-out. I’m a big fan of the sesame chicken and general tso’s chicken.

Good Chinese food and friendly owner. I like the shanghai noodles with pork that you can’t find at most area Chinese restaurants. The dry sauteed string beans are nice too.

We order from Ray’s for take out about twice a month after long swim practices. My kids like the lo-Mein noodles, fried rice, steamed dumplings and occasionally beef with broccoli. For this type of standard«American» Chinese food Ray’s is consistent, fast and in our experience just as good as the other place down the street. The dining atmosphere could use some updating, but my sense is that the owners are not concerned. Although there are several tables, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone dining in the restaurant. The owner is always kind and cheerful and our order has always arrived complete.

Ordered online and it took more than 1.5 hours for food to be delivered on a Monday night. Absolutely unacceptable! Food was also not edible. We tossed out half of it :(

Rays used to make excellent Chinese food. The past few times we have been there the food has been mediocre at best. This past visit, the service was extremely slow. The restaurant was almost empty and it took about an 30 minutes to get our appetizers and another 30 minutes before the entrees started to come out. There didn’t seem to be much take-out business going on, so I don’t understand why it took so long for the food to be served. To start, we ordered pan fried dumplings, which were burnt on the bottom. We also had an order of spring rolls which were extremely small. We ordered a total of 5 entrees which were ok, however, the 5th entrée was brought to the table at least 20 minutes after the first four. Don’t think we will be returning to Rays any time soon.

Been going here since I was a toddler. My parents and their friends would go all the time for special occasions, mostly for birthdays. If you want authentic Chinese, this is the spot. It’s unlike any Chinese restaurant in Westchester. You will recognize the uniqueness right away. It’s always fresh and delicious and doesn’t make you feel sick after eating like many generic Americanized chinese restaurants. Their general taos is the best I’ve ever eaten. If you haven’t tried this spot, do so right away. There’s a reason they have been in business forever. Keep supporting this gem.

Fresh ingredients, solid food. Straight, American chinese food. Stick to the egg roll, general tso, and all the other classic dishes. The difference here is that the meat and veggies seem to be good quality and it’s not super greasy(but of course the things I mentioned are deep fried, so there’s some grease involved).

We have been coming here for over 20 years and the food is consistently fresh and delicious. The style is Shanghai, so you will find the food is light, not chewy or gloppy. There are many choices for vegetarians, but if you like jumbo shrimp, they are jumbo. For a great value, great service and the best Chinese food in Westchester, ignore the simple décor and enjoy a great meal.

Wonderful authentic Chinese food. Home Cooking style. Tasty and well presented. The Best I have ever had in US outside of Flushing. Much better than the other Chinese restaurant down the street. Try it out– you will be surprisingly pleased by the quality of dishes. The ambiance is late 1970s but the food more than makes up for it.

This little hole in the wall has some of the best Chinese food we have ever eaten, anywhere. I’d give it five stars except the place has zero ambiance so we’d rather get carryout than sit down there. That seems to be most peoples’ choice since I’ve never seen the place full of sit down customers.

Great plate of homemade broad rice noodles with chicken — and refreshingly gluten-free. Ray’s is always reliable for this kind of thing.

We are new to the area and wanted some decent Chinese delivery. Based upon the reviews, we thought for sure Ray’s was our place. We ordered the black bean vegetables, moo shu beef, vegetable dumplings, hot and sour soup, and Chinese spinach. I thought it all tasted overcooked, soggy and old. The soup was the high point and it was just OK. A bit watery for a hot and sour. My husband said the Moo Shu beef was just OK but was disappointed that it came with flour tortillas(not rice pancakes). I noticed that he threw away the leftovers(if he likes a dish he usually saves the leftovers for lunch the following day). Delivery was prompt. The price point was reasonable. Maybe we caught them on a bad night, but based on this experience we are not likely to order from them again.

I am shocked by the high ratings that this restaurant has received. I ordered takeout food. Upon entering, I noticed a pronounced smell of cats or kitty liter. I took my food home and TRIED to eat it with my son. Every dish, from Shredded Beef, to Wonton Soup to Basil Delight was, at best bland. At worst, it was inedible. We ended up throwing it all away and ordering delivery from Pelham Palace.

Rays has the BEST Chinese food I have ever tasted — hands down. Appetizers — sizzling duck, house dumplings, sautéed spinach — the best! Entrees — sesame chicken, shanghai steak — outstanding! House fried rice — incredible! And to top it all off, they have apple pie with ice cream for dessert!!! No it’s not Chinese, but its just one of the many things that makes rays unique. Do not let Rays and the friendly, hardworking staff who have been working their since I was a little girl, go out of business. This place is a gem!

I love the one guy ranting about how Chinese taylor their food to the region. Etc etc etc LOL… guess he doesn’t realize it’s a Mandarin style of cooking the knob! So much for the world travelers perfect pallet. Rays is pretty damn good and reasonably priced. They could make the atmosphere a little nicer in their establishment. Definately not a first date kinda place. More like married with kids. Either way, you will enjoy their«Larchmont taylored chinese»…even though it’s Mandarin style hahahahahaha
