I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. From the outside the restaurant looks dark, run down and dingy. The main entrance leads to a small dining area that’s not too impressive and you can also wait for your table in a small court yard. But there are more dining area that’s open and fairly large. The raw bar sampler appetizer was great. It had clams, oysters and peel and eat shrimp.(Market price $ 15.95) The conch fritters were ok. Not something I would order again. The Maryland Bloody Mary was just ok too. For the entrees we ordered the New England clam bake which had a lobster, clams, mussels, shrimp, corn and a potato. Also market price for $ 41.95. They don’t have a crab sampler where you can try all the different types of crabs so I ordered the sampler of three Maryland style crabs(market price $ 17.25) and the sampler of four garlic crabs(market price $ 13.00) Crabs are time consuming to eat so I needed up taking most of it home. We needed the meal with a peanut butter chocolate banana pie. That was amazing! You can’t go wrong with those three flavors together. The food was good and I’ll definitely be back.

Let me start off by saying that the location is actually a fresh of breath air. In a sea of Florida restaurants nestled right on the beach but serving fish from the freezer, I rather get a location under I-95 with fresh fish from the fish market that they embody within the premises. The décor is all funky and awesome fish market-y. The place oozes tradition and the wood carvings on the walls are a lot of fun to walk around and check out. We started out our dinner with the gator bites, which I was very excited about since I have had grilled gator before and really enjoyed the taste of. However the bites are buried inside a thick layer of breading that I found to be too salty and they ranged from soft succulent to chewy and hard, a bit of a hit or miss. I have to say, consistency and respecting the main ingredient is important here so I was not too impressed. Then came the stone crabs on ICE. Yes, ICE! We were told that they are served cold because otherwise the meat would stick to the shell and would be unpleasant to eat. This dish comes with a mustard sauce but when you have something so extraordinary and sweet, diluting it with any sauce is surely a crime. Luckily, there was also lemon wedges on the plate so a weak squeeze was all it took to compliment these delicious delights. The claws are large and chunky with plenty of meat inside. Every bite of it is heavenly! Apparently there is a limited season for them to be sure to inquire availability beforehand if you are expecting to just show up and find these gems present at your table. The service was top notch with our waiter Carlos, very helpful and prompt. Little did we know, the four claws you get in the stone crab plate are a little over $ 45! So take that into consideration when you are enjoying them crabs ;)

I was not planning on reviewing this restaurant but after reading some of the reviews about how snow crab legs from Publix were better and cheaper and how the atmosphere was not all that I felt compelled to review it since these reviews were obviously written by people unfamiliar with the way a true crab house should be. The steamed blue crabs at Riggins Crab House are as authentic and well prepared as you can get. To compare this yumminess to frozen snow crab legs is just plain ignorant. Traditional crab houses are not big on atomosphere; crab houses are places to bang crabs and drink beer. I actually like the atmosphere of this restaurant, especially the Maryland items and this restaurant is just like a traditional crab house you might find anywhere in the Delmarva area. Besides the crabs, they make a great crab soup and their stuffed shrimp which is stuffed with crab imperial is incredible. If you don’t want traditional crabs they have Garlic Crabs here way better than most places. We are lucky to have Riggins in South Florida because there is nothing else that comes close to comparing to a real crab house. I live in Hollywood but still will make the drive when I want crabs. Absolutely the best. I am a huge fan and i hope they never change a thing.

My girlfriends and I are on vacation and we were craving for seafood. We came across Riggins on Unilocal and we thought we’ll give it a chance even though they only had 3 stars. Food: Absolutely great for the price, tasty and delicious. Service: Terrible. They made us wait when they had many open tables, which I understand sometimes, but a lot of the servers were sitting around doing nothing. We saw our waitstaff once throughout our whole dinner. She came by just to take our order and disappeared. After waiting for her patiently the other waitstaffs had to bring our food, water, condiments, and our bill. Hmm? We weren’t expecting a 5 star treatment, but we would like to see her more than once(taking our order).

Got 2 dozen live blue crabs from the market for about $ 50 which is a pretty reasonable price. They were about $ 5/lb which is pretty good. Obviously not the largest of crabs but they did the job.

The fish is absolutely delicious. Had blackened swordfish with jumbo shrimp in a tomato sauce. Our server Shana was great and absolutely adorable!

Let’s start with the ambiance. Okay, so there is none. They need to lighten up the place. It’s too dark. Dark green ceilings, flooring and furniture. Ugh. Es no Bueno. And when I asked the server about it, he says it was done purposely that way to give the feel of a Maryland crab house. Okay, Ive only been in FL one year, but I never, in the past 20 years, went to a MD crab house this dark! The service is AWESOME. servers are polite, professional and knowledgeable. Even the lady who escorted me to my seat was friendly! And now to the meat of the matter. Ordered Maryland Blue Crabcakea. I’ve been in Florida over a year now, and have ordered ‘Md Blue crab Cakes” many times(from Orlando down to Miami). And each time I was totally underwhelmed, frustrated with the fare. That is, until today. The Crabcakea really have Crab in them, lump crab meat! Oh yeah! Happy Camper. Now do thy taste like the Crabcakea you get in DC or MD? No. But they are pretty danged good. The minimal amount of filling is creamier that you get at home. And, of course, they needed a bit more Old Bay! Not a major complaint. They were good! To get here, I have to travel an hour. the trip, though, is well worth it. Were it a bit brighter, this establishment would have received five stars.

4 Stars for my experience. My reviews are biased, and only personal opinion. The reason it gets 4 stars is because it was exactly what we were looking for. Low key, mellow, not overly decorated true seafood house. The ambiance and décor isnt top notch, but for me that doesnt play a roll for most seafood venues. Comfy, and very friendly service… the menu is extensive. Anything from Clam Strips which I got, to Coconut Shrimp, big Crabs, crab cakes, good hushpuppies, and gator bites. Affordable, and messy! You get to break it all down on the table and the sauces are good.

Hello fellow Unilocalers! I’m in town for a little vacation and my girl had a taste for steamed crabs so we asked around and was directed to this spot. Keep in mind that my review is only about the price; nothing else. We asked for a dozen of steamed crabs seasoned with Old Bay of course but to our surprise, the price came up to 60 $!! We felt that was too much especially not knowing if we would have liked them or not. So we headed next door to Publix and got 3 pounds of steamed crab legs perfectly seasoned with Old Bay for 21 $ which were delicious and much meatier than whole crabs! Next time we are in town, we know where to go for crabs!

A friend recommended we try this place. I have to give 4 stars instead of 5 because the ambiance could use some work. It seems like it’s not well kept from the outside and to be honest the inside is dimly lit and could use some updating. The service and food(the things that really matter) were incredible. Let me just say, please get the crab cakes. They are unlike any crab cake I’ve ever had and are just mind-blowingly delicious! The staff is super friendly and quick. My husband got a seafood dish with a red sauce and everything was cooked to perfection. We also tried the clam chowder and as a New England native, I thought it was pretty good! All in all, definitely worth a try. Don’t judge a book by its cover, it really has a lot to offer. We will be back!

Well being a Marylander I gotta say this place was a must try so why not make the drive to Palm Beach County? Well with Maryland ‘style’ crabs on the menu, is was a no brainer. Now if anyone knows anything about Maryland, good and bad you know Maryland is for crabs as Maine is for lobster, plain and simple. There are NO substitutions, with the exception of when you’re not in Maryland. We got there and were immediately seated. Ironically enough the table behind me was from Maryland in fact they were from the DC area I came to later find out as they were sporting Washington Nationals gear and they scoped out my Baltimore Orioles hat. Back to the food, I got my sweet tea on order, and I get the all you can eat blue crabs«Maryland Style» of course which should be lathered with Old Bay seasoning. Now the disclaimer from the waiter was they are small so I said well it’s all you can eat so that doesn’t matter to me. Now out come the crabs looking good. The crabs in general were over steamed for sure in fact every tray that came out was like this and quite the disappointment. To add the seasoning was most certainly not Old Bay but more like a food companies version of their old bay, I mean it was spicy and making my nose run. Old Bay does not make my nose run. I asked the waiter what the spice really was and he tried to actually sell me that it was Old Bay, after a swift reminder that I’m actually from Maryland, he back tracked and fessed up that it wasn’t Old Bay. Ok, now we are past that on to the crabs themselves. The crabs were very thorny and yes they were blue crab I guess but the waiter also stated they were from the Gulf side of Florida I think North of Bonita Springs. Now I will say that service was great, no it was and the waiter was really nice. I am sure other seafood there is really good perhaps but please DONOT try and mock Maryland blue crabs, this is south Florida, and it just will not work. I saw a framed letter from the Ocean City, Maryland Mayor praising them that they’d give crab houses in Ocean City a run for their money and I must say that the Mayor must have been high on something because that statement is completely false. No wonder a South Florida crab house framed that letter. Will I be back? probably not. This review was only to review the«Maryland Style» all you can eat blue crabs and the service. As far as the table behind me, they too were not impressed.

Worst Father’s Day dinner ever! We walked in and noticed the place was warm right away, By the time the appetizers arrived we were sweating profusely and canceled our order. The menu prices should afford you a better AC. We will not return.

I’ve been coming here for years and the food was great. I used to come about once a month with a large group of friends, but the last couple of times the crab and lobster was overcooked. I ordered the New England Bake last night, MP on the menu($ 37.99). The clams, mussels, and shrimp were good, but my lobster was rubbery. My friends that accompanied me agreed that the quality has declined. I really want to like this place. Maybe I’ll have to try some new things on the menu if I decide to return.

Tried looking past some of the negative reviews to give this place another try since my last time in years. Recently moving to lake worth, I was feeling optimistic and hoping to have a new crab spot instead of having to schlep out to the whales rib or rustic inn. Getting there, it was great being able to have a bar to wait at until our entire party arrived, $ 6 for 2 pints, friendly bartender. Party arrived, and as we were walked to our table, I was pleasantly surprised that the place was more rustic/charming then the old stuffy place I remembered. Our waitress was excellent. She promptly got us our beer and put in our appetizers immediately, granted we were literally 1 of 3 other tables in there who were finishing up. Appetizers came out quickly. I got a clam chowder and the a dip for the table which were very good. Now on to the main event, garlic crab. A dozen ran us about $ 40, and for a myself who has been eating crab my whole life, the dozen small blue crab was a pretty intimidating portion. Digging into the first few legs, it was rather mushy but sweet and flavorful. Getting down to a few crab at the bottom, the meat was brown and foul, which I further then avoided and discarded about 2 – 3 entire crab of the dozen. After about an hour of caveman style hammering and technical forgery as my family waited impatiently for me to finish as they finished long ago, aside from the discarded, I deemed myself victorious with room to spare. Although we did stay past closing, we felt no pressure from the staff to leave as they did they’re closing routine around us. Even offered dessert or coffee when we were finished which I thought was nice, thinking that they all wanted to get out of there. After going home feeling ok about the experience, a few hours later our stomachs turned for the worst, but I won’t go into detail there. In short, great service, good atmosphere, excellent apps, cheap beer, but the quality of crab is why I’m giving 3 stars to this crab house. I can’t say I’ll be back unless I see some newer reviews raving about the crab, but it seems I’m in the same boat as the other reviewers who had the same experience.

Recently went here on a Monday night and they had all-you-can-eat stone crab claws. WOW! They were large, Cracked to perfection, and server Marianna bought more as soon as I had eaten the previous plateful… Whenever I’m in this area you can bet I’ll be at Riggins crab house !!

First I will start off by saying that my girlfriend and I love sea food so when I came across riggins crab house on Unilocal I was excited to try it… That being said here is my experience… Went on a Friday night for date night… We arrive to this older building hidden in the back northwest corner of the Publix plaza on lantana road and 95 the building it self is clearly in need of a face lift however I just assumed its part of the«crab shack» motif they are going for… We walk in and was greeted by the hostess who was not too friendly… the place wasn’t as busy as I expected for a Friday night but after waiting for about 5 – 10 mins we were sat in what looked like a comfortable booth, however once you sat down you immediately noticed the booth cushions were in dire need of replacement as you immediately sank into them(me and my GF are both small framed people). The table was covered in a large white paper table cloth and as I noticed everyone around me smashing hammers on crabs right on the tables around me it made perfect sense the reason for the paper table cloth… We look over the menu and people watched as we waited for about 10 mins for our server to greet us… I could immediately tell that the hostess wasn’t great at her job as it looked like our server had just been triple sat so he was clearly in the weeds… However once our server did greet us he was friendly and explained the menu and what they are known for, Maryland style crabs… We decided to order a Pepsi, water, and a glass of Chardonnay along with the fried gator to start, and ½ dozen medium sized Maryland crabs as they we already out of the large ones… Drinks came out a few mins later… Wine was not bad for a house brand and very reasonable priced at $ 5 a glass the pepsi however came out in a smaller plastic glass that I pretty much consumed with my first 2 sips which caused the need for many refills throughout dinner… The fried gator came out and was fresh and very tasty! Then about 10 mins later the crabs came out… We were handed some lobster bibs(which I highly recommend you wear regardless of how cool you think you are) 2 wooden mallets and 4 wooden poking sticks… And as it was our first time eating Maryland style crabs our server explained what I now know to be the tedious and messy process of dissecting Maryland style crabs! We went to work with our wooden mallets got dirty and had a blast… the crabs needless to say were great! After dinner I headed to the men’s room to wash up and must say they are in dire need of a facelift. The sink looked like it was going to topple over had it not been stuck to the wall with tons of caulking… Paper Towel machine was the automated kind and was not working… I will say that I can see myself going back to Riggins crab house again however a few pieces of advice… This is not a place you want to dress up to go out to eat especially if you plan on getting Maryland crabs as it will get pretty messy… Try the Maryland style crabs… Wear the lobster bib no matter what! You must be very patient when you go here as their service is very slow def not the place for you if your all about the service… however the food is good and priced well… Our bill was $ 58 for 1 appetizer, 2 glasses of wine, a Pepsi, and ½ dozen Maryland crabs… The reason for a 3 star rating is because of the slow service and dire need of a facelift to the dinning room and restrooms.
