We went today for the first time, and were very happy with the food and service. We ordered the Mexican roll which was excellent, and Sweet potato roll which was a pleasant surprise. We also shared the Bulgogi, it was amazing! The service was quick and very polite. We would definitely recommend and will be back soon!

We stopped here on the way to Grand Rapids after reading some review on Unilocal and were very pleasantly surprised. Since it was at 3:00 pm, lunch was over(@ 2:30) so we ordered from the dinner menu. Fried Pork Chops & Shrimp Tempura(see photos) Dinner entrées come with miso soup and salad with ginger dressing and hot tea. Everything was delicious and the service was great. Prices for entrées are around $ 9– 14 for most. Food was freshly prepared. They even gave us a complementary dessert– a freshly peeled orange! The place isn’t much to look at on the outside but the inside is very tastefully decorated. We’ll definitely stop here again.

This place is darn respectable, especially when you consider what they’re trying to do in South Lansing/Holt. Absolutely worth a try over the usual options of Sansu and Maru. Unique entrée choices, good rolls, strong service. 5 stars, despite looking totally out of place and awkward when you roll into the parking lot.

I had the Bulgogi dinner. It came with miso soup, salad with ginger dressing, rice, and a sizzling platter of delicious beef. The woman also brought us a complimentary side dish of cucumber salad in some sort of vinegar sauce. Kind of like a Korean pickle appetizer. It was really good. My friends got sushi and their rolls looked delicious but I didn’t try any. I would definitely come back to try the stone bibimbap and also to try their sushi if I was ever in the area again.

Went there last night for dinner. It was pretty bad. First of all, it was eerily quiet. No music was playing so I could hear other diners’ conversations as well as the employees. The only drink options were water and tea. I opted for water which did not come with a straw. Their credit card machine was down so they had to run it manually. I just got 2 rolls. They were put together pretty sloppily and each piece was inconsistent. The philadelphia roll had mushy salmon. The rolls were also… Slightly warmer than they should be. Very room temperature. I’ve eaten at every other sushi place in Lansing, and they are all better than this. Go to Maru or Sushi-Ya or Sushi Moto or Ukai instead. Reasonable price —($ 15 for 2 medium-sized rolls, 8 pieces total). And it was quick. But not worth it.

Finally an easy sushi stop for travelers along this stretch of highway… Exit 104. We have gone to the Grand Rapids Mikado location over the years– happy to see them expand. The owners are great and they always provide good quality sushi and a good price. Sake don gets a thumbs up. The Ahi Tower is a standout with the best taste and presentation I have found out of hundreds of sushi bars in the country. Great shareable app for the table.

I got the lunch special, which included the roll of the day(California Roll which has the crab salad) and chefs choice of 5 pieces of nigiri, and miso soup. I thought it was delicious! For $ 10, I also thought it a good deal. I will return to try more on their menu.

There might be better sushi places in town, but not many, and not by much. Mikado produces delicious rolls at realistic prices, AND, most importantly, they’re doing it in an area that’s been traditionally something of a sushi wasteland. I wasn’t a fan of the previous tenants, and the drive to get decent sushi was something of a drag. It’s great to have a place this good, this close to home.

A great Korean and sushi joint. Since they changed over from sushi blue I think their fish actually took a step down– they used to have some of the best sushi in town, but now it’s merely average. But for anyone who complains about fish tasting«too fishy» that’s probably a plus– the fish is more bland than it used to be. Anyway, they use real matcha powder for their tea, so it’s one of the best cups in town. Their sushi is a little on the inexpensive side although the quality is only what you pay for. Their Korean dishes are second only to Emo’s out on Trowbridge, you’ll get piles of good food all prepared perfectly. I recommend their lunch bentos, or their Korean– the dolsot(«hot stone bowl») bibimbap is excellent. Overall, astonishingly good considering the area. Good sushi on the South Side? Why yes, yes it is.

Not the #1 sushi spot in town but a huge improvement from when it was sushi blue. Fish seems fresher, place is cleaner with better décor. Service was good also.

Authentic sushi place… Great service and awesome food. The green tea had actual leaves and you watch them make your roll and to start off they give you an warm wash cloth. The tv’s are always on sports and the ambiance is with jazz music and classical… The food is great!!!

Nice revamp inside now with sushi bar seating but still has the old sushi blue benches with new paint. New larger menu, prices are similar. Lunch box was excellent as was spicy tuna roll. I will be back to try out more.
