While on vacation and eating McDonald’s and Dunkin donuts for breakfast the past few Mornings, I was craving for some home cooking. My search led me to neptunes! I ordered the gyro omelette and a bacon omelette for my family. It comes with toast and hash browns. Both omelettes were huge and tasty. One omelette can easily feed two people if you factor in the toast and hash browns. For the price of around 8.50 an omelette I think it’s worth it. A big breakfast at McDonald’s already costs around 6 dollars and it’s not even close to the amount of food and quality. Highly recommended!

I dined here many times over the years, but than again who hasn’t? If you’re from Lancaster you’ve dined at the Neptune! Why you ask? Because it’s the only«diner» in town and just a Lancaster city staple. I can’t really say I came here because anything stuck out as being exceptional. Just normal, average, diner type fare, and lots of choices. It was never a type of place that was the destination, just somewhere I ended up. A few months ago they closed due to a fire. The only reason this became our destination last night was pure hunger and convenience. It was around 7:45 on a Tuesday night — the first Tuesday without rain in weeks. We were nearby and just need some quick grub. We were the only diners in the place our entire meal, which I found to be unusual. Maybe it was because they just recently reopened, or maybe because it was an odd time. The waitresses said it was because everyone was out enjoying the elusive sun. Either way having the place to ourselves meant fast, friendly service and good food. This time I was impressed. Although the menu was scaled down(something I think was needed), the selections were still plenty. As a fan of hot sandwiches I found their selection unique and very tempting. The Cuban was calling me and I was not disappointed. Grilled perfectly and packed with juicy ham and pork, it was crunchy on the outside, salty and delicious on the inside. Everything a Cuban should be. It came with an order of chips — made in house I should mention — that were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Somebody needs to bag these suckers! On the downside I didn’t see much of a remodel. Maybe that’s a good thing since it is an authentic, vintage diner. The booths are still smallish and the bathroom, although clean, looked as though no improvements were made. Moving forward we might need to make this a destination.

Neptune is without a doubt the best diner in town, from their breakfast specials all day to their world famous meatloaf which has been featured on the travel channel, this is a great place to dine with friends and family. Highly recommend!!!

I go to the Neptune every Saturday for breakfast. I am never disappointed. The food is excellent, fresh and hot. They have a huge menu. Delicious burgers, fresh cut fries. It has an old time feel. The staff are kind and helpful. My only complaint is the sauce on the eggs benedict is a little thin for me. I love the Tony’s special.

I’ve dug this place since I was a teenager– it’s the ambiance and old-school feel you’re getting as The Neptune has stuck it out and been a fixture on downtown Lancaster for decades now. Seriously, for a sense of history– check this place out. Well worth it.

Stopped in the Neptune for breakfast after spending the night camping in the outfield of the Barnstormers stadium. A table for our two families was made pronto, service was good, and the food was decent. Coffee refills came quickly, and the Greek omelet($ 8.50) was a favorite by 4 in our party. Waitress was patient when a water spill drenched a table. The only gripe was the prices, which seemed a two dollars too high for every menu item. Was a solid meal, but for the price, I’d shoot for better food next time. Today, we paid the price for diner ambiance and convenience.

Just OK as diners go. Service mediocre and music too loud and diner almost empty. Asked(the very last time we were there) if they could lower the volume so we could talk and were told there was no adjustment. Really? After a so-so meatloaf dinner with thick gooey gravy, we paid our check and left. Waitress was tipped accordingly.

This past Saturday(April 2015) was the second time within the last 3 weeks we had Breakfast here. The first time we ate there it was packed(it was a Sunday). Then I had the«Moon Walker». Cozy place but did not get everything that was supposed to be on the plate all at once. Got the sausages I had ordered after I was almost finished wit my meal. I love sausage gravy… It had a funny taste to it… Sweet hardly any sausage in it. Waited for coffee refill for a second cup. Finally gave up. The waitress was friendly but very busy. My boyfriend had the kielbasa scrambler. He liked it, but when he tried my sausage gravy he suggested for me not to eat it. Did not want to make a scene. Like I said it was packed. This time it was 3 of us and we all had Omelets. 2 meat lovers, 1 cheese steak omelette. I have never seen a Omelets that big and loaded with meat. Very good. If you want your home fries crispy you need to let them know. Service was great. Got 3 refills of coffee. Like I already mentioned it was a Saturday not as packed. My advice get more waitresses on Sunday’s. With all this being said this was a good experience. We will definitely be coming back!

Loved this place! Service was excellent and breakfast was amazing. The portions were more than enough. It was very kid friendly. We’ll definitely plan to visit again when we’re in town.

Stopped in for a late breakfast today and overall enjoyed the experience. I had steak tips and eggs which was cooked well and generous potions. My wife had eggs Benidict. The hollandaise left something to be desired for sure. The service was good and it has a nice classic diner car feel.

The heat was on during a cool evening(maybe 65 tops outside). The heater was broken and it had to have been 95 degrees inside. An old man, looking like a bum with 5 wal-mart bags came in and told all the staff that it was so hot inside. Squeeky wheel got the grease and the staff finally opened a door in the back. Half of us got the cheesesteak. It was just ok. Then it gets good! The old bum started arguing with this New Jersey couple sitting behind him. So much so that our waiter and the hostess(not sure if I should call her that as she stared at everyone and did nothing behind the counter) had to get involved. It became very awkward. VERY. Eventually things settled down when the Jersey coupled moved one booth away from the bum. They even paid for his meal as a nice gesture. I doubt I will come here again unless someone really want to go.

Fast, friendly service. The breakfast specials were awesome. Try the cream chipped beef melt or the love boat – both amazing! Fairly small place but we got seats at lunch time pretty quickly. Definitely a cute little place to check out!

Great selection of omlettes for a low price. Service can be hit or miss. Also not sure how I feel about the cleanliness of the establishment…

My family of 4 and my sisters family of 4 decided to eat at the Neptune Diner. When we pulled up in front we were a bit apprehensive. Looked like it was closed, a bit run down but we gave it a shot and we are glad we did. Our children x4 sat at the counter on swivel stools feeling very grown up. The adults sat in a booth. Our waitress(sorry we didn’t get her name) with the brown short trendy haircut and warm friendly smile was awesome. We started with an order of fries with a side of brown gravy like back in the day. It was a guilty pleasure and sooooo worth it. Delish!!! Everything was truly top notch. Eggs Benedict, corned beef hash, Mickey Mouse pancakes. We had a great experience and will definitely go back. Oh one more thing you can beat the price. Great big portions for low price. Kids breakfast was $ 2.95. That’s unheard of!!! Would definitely recommend.

Sitting at the gateway to downtown is this little diner. As seen on Food Network this is a long time regular haunt of Lancaster. For me and mine it is low on the list of stops. I like the look of classic diners, but the food here just does nothing for me. Can’t say it was bad in that there was anything wrong, but flavors were very flat. Bland eggs, scrapple was missing that nice outer crunch, pancakes undercooked and bacon with no flavor. Some say this is a good spot for dinner and may have to give it another go. However, with so many other options in Lancaster it will take a specific reason to go back.

The Neptune was probably good at some point. My parents drag me here if we ever go out together. The service is fair to average. Our waitress brought half of our food with the plates(and food) resting on her chest. Another waitress with a short bob style hairdo carried her tray on her shoulder and her hair rested on top of people’s food. Our waitress didn’t bring us utensils, napkins, syrup, cream, and some other things we ordered unless we asked — sometimes twice. The ceiling tiles are dirty and drooping. The staff in the back of the house keeps their personal belongings with customer food just what I can see walking in. The seating in the back room is crowded and uncomfortable. The food is reasonably priced but slathered in fake liquid butter and the last few times my scrambled eggs were quite runny. It’s just okay.

Anytime I’m in Lancaster, I have to stop here. Why? Because it’s a diner, duh! It’s right down the road from the Amtrak train station so it is all about location location location. It still has that railroad metal siding to give it the genuine diner feel as you walk in, and it’s not very large and they have extra seating in the back. Generally, the meals are pretty generic, yet delicious. I can always choose to go somewhere else but this is the closest one that suits my needs when I’m in town. The prices are a little bit up there in comparison to some other places, but considering it is just outside of Downtown Lancaster and right by the train station, it makes for a prime business location. I never see it completely empty. It is one of my go to spots after a night at the Brickyard or heavy drinking at one of the dive bars around the way, but normally a go to when I roll into town to take care of family matters with the ex. The customer service is top-notch. Due to my phone dying on a regular basis, they were kind enough to let me charge their phone by their register so that I could be in contact for business matters. And they were very attentive to any of my cues that I may have needed anything from a new napkin to more caw-fee or if I was done with my food. They even have a little Unilocal sticker right on the door as you enter to let you know they are Unilocaler-approved, which made me giggle because well, I love my Unilocal fam and I’m glad they approve. Check it out for the convenience, but if you’re looking for something that is beyond regular diner grub, this is not the place for you.

Here’s the deal, I actually like Neptune. It’s a cool little diner in a great location. But, the food is pretty average or below. And given that there are a number of diners with similar offerings, similar prices all of which is better prepared, it sort of hurts Neptune. One other thing, on my last visit, yesterday morning, after a delightful server took great care of my wife and I, I went to pay the bill. Another sever was talking on her cell at the register. Clearly a personal call(I got to hear all too much of it). She never stopped talking on the phone. To the extent when another server came to the register to talk to the first server, we got pushed to third place in the priority and needed to wait while the two got each other up to speed on the personal developments taking place on the phone. That’s just stupid. Especially in a diner that was nearly empty and had at least two other servers who could have helped us at the register.

Good cheap food. My friend and I stopped by for a quick bite before a Lancaster Barnstormers game. She had The Birds Nest, I the Mexican Omelette. Nothing fancy, just your simple diner food — something that always pleases me. Wait staff could not have been friendlier. I was glad we decided to stop by since it wasn’t part of our original agenda. The Neptune Diner was pleasant surprise.
