Wrong address in Unilocal.Went to old location, sign out front says new address which isn’t around. Phone number is a answering machine that says happy new year. Thank you for wasting an hour of my life!

Food was excellent and light tasting, Not heavy or drowned by sauces. New Years Eve. We were seated promptly with our reservation. Had to wait a little for waiter to take our food order was the only negative. Overall, excellent and would go back

Fine dining. Dress to impress. The menu is geared more toward seafood. My colleagues and I had a business dinner at Gibraltar. They assigned two waitresses to our 12 party group. We ordered several appetizers for the table: 2 plates of mussels, tuna tartare, jumbo shrimp cocktail, pumpkin ravioli. All were delicious. After our appetizers, we were all handed oshibori(hot, damp towel with lemon wedge) to clean our fingers and hands. For my entrée, I ordered halibut. It was perfectly cooked, flaky and accompanied by bacon mousse. Many coworkers ordered steaks, which they all raved about and loved the tomato jam that came with their plates. For dessert, I ordered vanilla bean crème brûlée. It was silky and smooth with a perfect crunchy top. It was chock-full of vanilla beans. Amazing. Gibraltar is an excellent choice to impress your dinner guest, celebrate something special or treat yourself to a extravagant dinner. The staff was professional and attentive. The restaurant is beautiful. Tip: Gibraltar may be hard to locate if you’re unfamiliar with the area. It is directly across from the Iron Hill Brewery, on the same side of the street.(They share a parking lot.) It is located inside of a large building that is associated with Franklin & Marshall College. I parked and walked past Franklin & Marshall’s Aqua Center, which Gibraltar is right next to. Gibraltar’s signage is royal blue and burnt orange. It is large, but subtle. It is somewhat easy to miss.

My husband and I went there for our 1 year wedding anniversary and it was terrible! First off I was 6 months pregnant and when we walked in they looked at me like I was trash. We were seated right away than waited almost 10 minutes until a waitress came over to greet us, the restaurant wasn’t even busy. The waitress was sort of rude and didn’t bother to check on us during our meal. I needed to use the restroom and got up to ask the front desk where it was and got a snide comment and glaring looks when I asked. The food was very good but not worth the price. The seats we horrible they sank really low and I had to sit on my feet to eat. Needless to say we will not be going back there again. I would rather drive an hour to rockbass grille in Harrisburg.

This place is Seafood heaven! I am a seafood fanatic and had seafood all around the country. This place clearly stands out. I had the shellfish plateau. The shrimp were large and flavorful. I especially liked how they sliced the crab legs and lobster in half to make it easy to get the plump meat out & enjoy. Our server was friendly & knowledgable. The whole experience was very positive. It’s my new fav place in Lancaster City! Can’t wait to go back

By far the best restaurant in Lancaster. Chef Carl Vital sticks to what works and thats the secret to his continued success. I always love the specials and service is impeccable.

We were visiting Lancaster to get out of Philadelphia for the weekend and did not have a reservation on a Saturday evening but arrived shortly after opening. It was difficult to locate as others had said — lack of visible signage after dark and located towards the back of a plain brick building. Our waitress, Virginia, was amazing. Right there to fill water glasses, replace silverware, crumb the table. Food was wonderfully prepared. Flavors and presentation were amazing. Totally worth it for the price. $ 20 off via Unilocal just sweetened the deal.

Vastly overrated restaurant in a city with little or no competition in the pretentious class of eateries. The staff is nice, the atmosphere is, well, average, the food is less than spectacular and the bar is, sadly, like the food, more expensive than exhilarating. Don’t get me wrong, Gibraltar is nice. It’s quite ok but it’s frequently touted as one of the best things in Lancaster and while that may be true it says much more about Lancaster than it does, in an absolute sense, about Gibraltar.

Not a good experience. Went on a Saturday night at 7pm, reservation for 2. They somehow ran out of menus so it took about 20 minutes to even place an order. How do you run out of menus? Was there a menu fire? Once ordered, drinks and food took a pretty long time. But the biggest disappointment was the quality of the food. Very underwhelming. The only bright spot was the friendly staff, who kept telling us that they hope we enjoyed our dinner, almost as if they knew it sucked. Maybe they just had an «off» night. But I don’t plan on returning to find out…

I came here cause of the Unilocal deal. I had no idea that this place was so dressy. If I had known I would’ve saved it for a more special occasion. I felt a bit underdressed when I walked in but I was welcomed nonetheless. I shared the shellfish plateau and ordered a glass of Sangria. The servers are alert, friendly and observant when it comes to small details. However they are a bit slow, they just have to fix their timing that’s all. The shellfish plateau is pretty big and can easily be shared with 2 people, it offers a great assortment of shellfish from lobster to Alaskan crab to jumbo shrimp. Mussels, clams, oysters you name it. They offer 4 dipping sauces and baguette to clean your palette as you switch between each type of seafood. My favorite was the lobster, crab, shrimp and village bay oysters. The oyster was nice that it wasn’t too briny or fishy. It had a slightly sweet finish. It was fun getting hands on and eating this dish. As for the rose sangria, it was horrible. I took a few sips and it tasted like medicine! The waiter noticed my reaction and quickly came to ask me what was wrong. After I told him how bad it was, he offered to let me switch to something else. I had a glass of dessert wine instead which turned out much better. The dessert wine had a smoky finish at the end which was a nice aftertaste. So much for being adventurous with rose sangria right? Overall, the service here is impeccable, but I do admit this is on the pricier end compared to other places I’ve been in Lancaster. I recommend coming here for celebrations or an intimate dinner date. Don’t forget the Unilocal offer ! Helps keep your wallet together, at least for a little bit.

Five dollar signs, but I don’t know why. It’s not the most creative cuisine in Lancaster, but it is the only place where you feel like you should’ve worn a tie and jacket. Overpriced.

We had the filet and the sea bass — both were prepared very well. The service was as good as you’re going to get outside NYC. It is a quite restaurant conducive to good conversation.

We had a wonderful meal at Gibraltar’s this week! The pine nut crusted Atlantic Haddock that my wife ordered was absolutely amazing! I ordered the gnocchi and wild mushroom ragu. Ozzie, the most tremendous server, asked the chef to add short ribs to that meal. It was absolutely amazing! You will never find gnocchi as light and fluffy as the chef makes at this restaurant! Because the negative comments about the ambience, I added some pics of the interior. I guess if you’re used to chic Manhattan-style restaurants, you might be disappointed, otherwise enjoy some of the best food you’ve ever eaten!

We tried Gibraltar on our most recent visit to Lancaster. I had a braised short rib pappardelle, which was nice. Another big hit at our table was the gnocchi. We had a king crab and lobster cocktail. For $ 24 I’d say you get four ounces of seafood. It just seemed to be incredibly overpriced, and this is coming from someone who lives in Manhattan. Our main complaint was the service. We had an older gentleman who did not seem capable of doing this job. Although he acknowledged us in the beginning it was a good 20 minutes until we got any actual service. We ordered some drinks then waited for him to come back — when he finally did it was to say that the one beer we ordered had run out. We wanted to know what kind of tequila they had. Since we had plenty of time I walked over to the bar to check that out for myself. After waiting for a while we ordered apps. Later we had to flag him down to order the entrees. We also had to ask if there were specials, which he happily recited upon request. But why should we have to ask to order and then ask if there are specials? Several times during service we had to ask for plates to be removed. We did a lot of asking. When they were delivered he commented how lucky we were to have received our entrees this quickly. Very odd. I guess we should feel special now? Two mystery beers appeared on our check as well. Once again, it was on us to notice and ask for it to be corrected.

If you find yourself in Lancaster, I’d highly recommend Gibraltar for dinner. Our meal was very darn delicious! Gibraltar has a dressy feel but can be casual(I found myself wearing sneaks). We ordered the tuna tartare to start and I had the diver sea scallops for my main which was perfect. Scallops had black truffle mash, spinach, chanterelles and a mushroom sauce. I wish I was eating it right now! You won’t have any issues finding anything to eat — I was considering a handful of options but our waiter was well equipped with knowledge and suggestions. We also ordered a bottle of red with a? on the label from a CA winery — highly recommend too.

Just ok. We arrived a little early for our 5:15 reservation and the staff acted as if they didn’t know what to do. In fact they all saw us and allowed us to wait at the door for over 5 minutes, then finally someone came by to ask if we wanted to make a reservation! Who makes in person reservations? It was a joke. They wouldnt give us a table in the empty restaurant and made us sit at the bar. Which was fine but never came by to tell us that our table was finally ready. Food was ok, the descriptions on the menu didn’t match the actual food that arrived. Many things are fried and a bit tasteless and greasy. My Tuna came rare just as I asked, which made me happy but the rest of the plate was bah… Shrimp cocktail was good. Server was polite, but never came back to ask if we wanted more wine. The Pino Grigio from Tuscan was DELICIOUS. My main complaint — The ambiance is awful. Go to the Log Cabin.

I must have gone on an off night or the«5 star» reviewers need to get out more often. I cannot genuinely give this place anything more than 3 stars. The service is great, but the food is just mediocre. As for the ambiance, I can see a commendable attempt was made to make it «chic», but it’s far off the mark. The lighting is so poorly designed that my eyes were fatigued. Sorry, but I can’t understand the silly 5-star reviews.

Ever since I jumped on the Unilocal train, I’ve been meaning to review this place. I could honestly go on and on about Gibraltar. I’ve been going here, exclusively with my grandma, for nearly 15 years. We’ve NEVER had a bad meal here; we’ve never even had a mediocre meal. Every time we get the check, we look at each other and say, «that was excellent». However, for the past two years we always request a particular server: Ozzi. He’s fantastic, engaging and gives us outstanding service. We look forward to seeing him every time we go in. In fact, we call ahead just to make sure he’s working. He’s the best. Service aside, the food is just leaps and bounds above anything in the area. I’m a huge seafood fan, so I feel like the menu is catered to my tastes. I’ve had every seafood staple on the menu. Now I just get whatever the seafood special is. Everything is so fresh with well thought out flavors. Most recently I had the Seafood Bouillabaisse, and as always, it exceeded my expectations. It must be noted that the desserts are incredible. Huge shout out and bravo to the pastry chef. If it’s your first time, get the chocolate gâteau. I just had their pumpkin cheesecake, and it was easily the best pumpkin cheesecake I’ve ever had. I’ll be including a picture. From bread to dessert, it’s seriously a grand slam of a dining experience. I’ll always be back.
