This is my first time and I had the best experience ever! They make you feel like you are family. My hairdresser was Dave, he was amazing! I can’t wait to go back.

I came in as an out of towner passing through Lancaster with so much traveling going on that I didn’t have time to arrange a cut with my local stylist back in Boston. Given it was a Thursday and the farmer’s market wasn’t happening, best I can get out of Lancaster is a good haircut. I was assigned to Michelle and she did a good job, agreeing to use only scissors and cut delicately since my hair is curly and coarse. It came out perfect just like stylists accustomed to doing my hair even though it was her first time. I would be a regular if only I lived close-by. Y’all are lucky to have great talent within this cute little PA town.

I came here in March and had a nice balayage ombré from this place. Here is why I only give it one star:(if this is too long for you, scroll to the last paragraph) I made an appointment for an ombré and haircut. I was enticed even more by the Unilocal deal of $ 115 for the value of $ 150. So I came in in the day of my appointment and asked the young pretty receptionist if they honored that deal. She said yes, but that I would unfortunately not be able to use the voucher because my service would cost $ 148 and not $ 150. Bummer, but oh well. I forget the girl who did my hair but she did a good job on the balayage. The highlights blended well and looked nice. I didn’t like my haircut, however. I told her that I like a lot of layers and angles, because I have thick Asian hair and it gets weighed down. She then informed me that with my hair type and texture, she doesn’t want to give me a lot of layers and angles, and instead proceeded to give me a dull, blunt, one-lengthed haircut that was not flattering at all. Also, I asked for a 2 inch cut, and ended up with about 4 inches cut. I hate when that happens. She asked me how I liked my hair styled. I told her wavy, and she curled my hair and I ended up looking like a poodle with a tight perm. I could tell that even she was embarrassed with the outcome with the way she acted. It’s not a big deal to me, however, because I can walk home and and wash my hair and restyle it. Here’s what really made me mad. The receptionist tells me that my total is $ 220. Kind of shocking. Turns out that my stylist decided to do a few extra things without telling me. I ask her if I can use the Unilocal deal now that my cost is definitely over $ 150. All of a sudden she picks up a HUGE attitude. She asks me if I can show her the Unilocal deal on my phone, because she doesn’t know what I’m talking about. Well, she seemed to know it when I mentioned it when coming in but, okay, I can pull it up on my phone. After taking my phone with an annoyed and exasperated sigh and the grouchiest face, she takes 5 minutes to scrutinize the deal. I WISH I had a picture of her reading the deal on my phone because she looked PISSED. I felt like I should have been the angry one… anyway, She tells me with the biggest attitude that I can’t use the deal because I needed to mention this Unilocal deal when I made my appointment. I said there is nowhere in the fine print that mentions this. She says it’s implied. Oh REALLY. Awesome, I guess I should have been psychic. Just earlier she said I couldn’t use it because the cost of my service wouldn’t add up to $ 150, then she pretends like she doesn’t know this deal, then she tells me that I needed to mention this while booking my appointment. I was a little frustrated at this point, and before I ask to talk to the manager she tells me that the manager isn’t there and that she won’t be in that day. At this point, I don’t even want to talk to her anymore so I pay what I owe, which totals to $ 260 after tip. I had the worst experience here and will never return again.

Place is flaky. Twice they didn’t know the stylist I booked was off sick or quit. First time I had someone fill in and jacked up my head. A different time they said their credit card machine was down. «I swore we called you in advance to bring cash», they said. No they didnt. Wouldn’t let me give credit card over the phone when it was back up, or pay at my next visit even though I was coming there regularly. Made me walk to Orange Street to Allpoint atm in 14° weather. Was ridiculous. Better places to go than here.

Justin is a laid back and always gives my haircut the attention to detail that I like. He is an artist and I love it. Stacey keeps everyone happy around there and I always feel like a million bucks when I walk out with a new haircut. …Oh and their frequent flyer program, It’s fun to get free stuff!

My experience was horrible!!! When I made the appointment I told the receptionist that I was allergic to PPD products in permanent hair dye and then I also warned the hair stylist. They assured me that their products are PPD free. The day after my hair was dyed I broke out, puss and blisters in my head my hair broke in place, it took over a week to heal. I went back into the salon and the owner wasn’t there, I explained/showed the receptionist what was happening to me. She was supposed to give the owner my message. Hours passed and she hadn’t called me so went in again. Can you believe she was working on someone else’s hair… When I asked to speak to her she treated me like a criminal. She called in the colorist who, then suggested that she send me to a doctor. But noooo, instead she gave me the number to hair dye’s manufacturer. Meanwhile, they took pictures and claimed they were trying to get in touch with the manufacturer«with no success». Two, three days later they claimed they couldn’t get in touch with the manufacturer. Bottom line is I didn’t go there to try to cause any problems or get my money back. I just wanted to warn them and let them know that if it happened to me it might happened to others. Owner doesn’t not care about her clients!

I am really happy to finally get to write a 5 star review for a salon in Pennsylvania. These are selfish reasons — I don’t have to drive 7 hours to get back to my stylist, or overpay for a haircut in a not-so-great salon, or have my bangs cut at an angle. I loved the location and look of the salon which is what enticed me to try it out. For being in center downtown Lancaster, the prices are reasonable, and you get what you pay for. Head massage with shampoo? Yes please! The atmosphere is beautiful — very relaxing and modern. The place is clean and well kept and the stylists have enough room to move around and cut your hair properly. I had my hair cut by Katie, who not only was incredibly nice, but really took the time to make the cut lay right. It’s my favorite of the pixies I’ve gotten over the past year and a half. I’ll be happy to call this ‘my salon’ now and will be coming back again and again.

My experience with Envy Studio was absolutely AMAZING from beginning to end. A friend of mine was getting married in Lititz on a Friday in June 2012 and I was traveling from Pittsburgh to the Lancaster area to attend. Only days leading up to the wedding and at the very last minute, I thought I’d take my chances on scheduling a hair /make-up appointment, knowing full-well that the salon was most likely booked. I happen to call on a day Envy was closed. I left a voicemail(also followed up with an e-mail). Within a ½ hour, I received a return call. I was blown away that on their day off, I received an immediate response. They assured me they could make room and would call the following day to confirm the appointments(which they did). Upon arrival, the salon is chic and modern. Electronica music pumps through the speakers, making you feel like you’ve stepped into a NYC or Miami salon. The receptionist is friendly, cheerful and makes it her goal to make you feel comfortable — beverage, hanging up your coat /purse, etc. First, my hair was styled by Stacey. I have short, pixie-like hair that was in dire need of a cut/color, but unfortunately no time prior to the wedding. You would’ve never guessed because Stacey made it look incredible! I felt like I had just walked right out of a magazine. Stacey’s talent is remarkable and I can only imagine what she can do with all types of hair. Next, was make-up with Lionel. There aren’t enough adjectives to describe the magic that Lionel can do with a face. He is absolutely, positively incredible. I walked in with no make-up, just a hint of tinted moisturizer. He transformed me into flawless perfection. Smooth skin, a perfect rosy glow to the cheeks, smoky, fiery eyes that popped with color. I wanted to keep the look forever. If I never had to wash my face again, I wouldn’t have. It was that beautiful. Lionel’s artistry will have people stopping on the street and staring at you as you exit the salon. When my husband of 7 years arrived to pick me up, I’ve never seen him blown away like he was when he saw me. At the wedding, I was complimented time and time again. The folks at Envy are superb at what they achieve in this A+, five-star salon. Envy is 3 ½ hours away from where I live and I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t tossed around the idea of making the 3 ½ hour drive to get my hair or make-up done by them once again. Yes, they’re THAT good.
