Funky little local yokel stop. My coworker flipped over his cattleman’s breakfast(thumbs up in the medium rare steak)… me? I found my beef-on-weck a little over stewed(beef-on-weak) and the roll a bit too faux for my desire. Pluses included ginormous sodas, crisp fries. I’d give it a try if you want to avoid fast-food chicanery.

I’ve been to Dutch Mill several times since I moved to Lancaster 2 years ago. It’s a homey feeling diner that also has an ice cream stand. The breakfasts are average. If I get eggs over-easy, they are good but I’ve tried omelets a couple of times and they were kind of overcooked and dry. The best thing about the breakfasts is that you can upgrade from home fries to potato pancakes. Last night, we went for dinner and my wife had a fish fry and I had the Beef on Weck. This is the first time we actually went there for dinner because they were advertising the arrival of a new chef, Carol Misnik. We have been great admirers of Carol Misnik’s cooking, especially her fish frys, when she worked at a few other establishments so we decided to try Dutch Mill for dinner. But this did not taste like the food we’ve had from Carol in the past. She always had a great fish fry and sides. The fish was OK, but the sides tasted store-bought. I have to wonder if she was actually cooking. Her name was on the outside sign. I didn’t ask if she was there but maybe we should have. My beef on weck was OK and had very good gravy. I ordered curly-q fries in place of regular and they were not really curly-qs. They more closely resembled angel hair pasta in fried potato form and were too greasy. I only ate some of the fries. I probably won’t go back for dinner but maybe for lunch. The sandwiches are pretty good.

This is a comforting place to come for a simple Meal, stuff like Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Beef on Weck Grilled Cheese etc. For me this a place I’d go to where I a simple Meal, a place that’s reasonably priced where you don’t have to spend a lot of money. My Grandma loves coming here(since it is less than 20 minutes from her house). I usually get something like Hot Dogs(with that Beautiful Char on them), a Burger(Nothing like sinking your teeth into a Hunk of Grilled Meat) or Chicken Fingers(Crispy Breading with Tender Meat Inside). Grandma would get something like Pot Roast or a Turkey Club Sandwich, while sipping on a hot cup of Coffee. Like I said if you want a Reasonably Priced meal and you don’t want to spend a lot then come on down to the Dutch Mill.

Our family comes here for breakfast all the time. It’s affordable, and the food is always fantastic! The employees are super friendly and tend to remember you if you’re a regular like we are. This is definitely one of my favorite little spots to have good breakfast!

This is okay for breakfast, but 2 stars is the best I can do here. They advertised thick sliced French toast, but it came in thin slices and did not taste very good. I will say that the over easy eggs were good. But the server was not overly nice. Maybe she was having a bad day? Also, I was not fond of the sausage patties. If you are on the road looking for a good breakfast, avoid this one.

Mom and hubby and I got breakfast here this morning. It’s practically around the corner from our place and I smell it every time we drive past. Yum. Service is quick and friendly, atmosphere is pleasantly truck-stoppy. You can buy a lottery ticket with your meal if you want. Mom got the sausage and biscuit plate(two little sausage sandwiches covered in gravy), hubby got blueberry pancakes(plain pancakes with blueberry pie filling and whipped cream on top), and I got the country-fried steak with absolutely perfect over-medium fried eggs. We all wanted to try the potato pancakes so we got a plate of those to share. It’s all good, solid food but the potato pancakes are the real highlight, oniony and crispy.(Mom and I simultaneously had the thought that they were just like the ones grandpa used to make.) If you get a meal that includes homefries, which are nicely done but plain, pay the extra buck-and-change to upgrade to potato pancakes instead. The coffee is bottomless but a bit weak. A couple of mugs will probably wake you up. You can’t beat the price. Before the tip our entire bill — four breakfast plates, two coffees, a tea and an OJ — was thirty bucks, and we were all stuffed. Now I’ve got my local alternative to IHOP.

My kids wanted milkshakes on this nice hot Spring night and as I passed the usual places I would go to there were lines waiting to get into the parking lots and lines pouring out the doors to order ice cream. Just as I passed the place my parents used to take us. It used to be Snyder’s but later became The Dutch Mill. A good diner for food if you can get past the mildewy smell that is a signature scent there. The food is always good and the ice cream is Upstate New York Brand. I walked up to a window with no line… there was a young lady cleaning, busy inside. There was a doorbell that said ring for service. I pressed it as a truck roared by and wondered… did I press it hard enough, did it ring? She kept cleaning. I rang again and a few more cars roared by… She kept cleaning… I tried once more and pressed real hard as a motorcycle blasted by. She turned to me and smiled! I asked her if it worked and she said«Oh no, that doesn’t work! How can I help you?» Friendly, quick, obviously clean, due to Jennifer, I had three shakes to go, pretty quick, no line and very happy as I got home, probably faster than some people got parking tonight. Shakes tasted good too! A win! But now I went and told all you guys… See you next time!
