This is now«The Mason Jar» restaurant and we really liked it! A very different menu with tons of appetizers or as they call them Small Plates. We tried the parmasean fries, chicken fingers, fried pickles and the chicken chipotle tostada. Loves them all. Fries a really good! The owner has changed the place completely and is very fresh and clean looking. They also have a really nice patio. We will be going back for sure.

I like the Taco specials and Margarita too. This place will change name soon. I hope I like it as much. Should be …because same owner I hear. You must get here early on music nights because parking fills up fast. Korean Tacos are the Bomb. Flavor explode in my mouth. I like.

The only reason why I keep going back to this place is because we have different groups of friends that want to stop here for dinner and drinks and then go somewhere else for the evening… Every time I’m hoping that the experience will be different… But it’s not. Service is horrible and the food is just as bad. I was there a couple of weeks ago and ordered the taco salad and it came in a bowl like a regular salad and the waitress asked me if I wanted ranch with my taco salad… I understand this is a «southwestern» grill and not a «Mexican» restaurant that is the first time I’ve ever been offered ranch with a taco salad and hopefully the last. They are bleeding revenue, our drinks sat empty numerous times while the bar staff and waitstaff just stood around and talked and text on their phones. Don’t know what happened to this place because when they first opened as «Mike Southwest Grill» they were phenomenal but over the last year plus they are the exact opposite.

I figured it’s time that I updated my review. Mike’s Southwest Grill still seems to be the number one happening place in the Bedford/Lambertville area on Wednesday nights… and the proof is in the parking. If we don’t get here before 5 p.m. when everybody gets out of work, finding parking and /or seating is difficult so we usually get here around 7 p.m. when some of the 5 p.m. people are ready to leave, that way we’re all primed and ready to go when the band starts at 8 p.m. Wednesday nights features $ 2 margaritas and $ 1 tacos and they’re not thin(or weak) by any means. If I catch a place making weaker drinks than usual when they’re on sale, I will front them out and tell everybody and thrash them… but relax this place does not do that. By the way, the shrimp cocktail with zucchini was delicious. I don’t know what they did to it but it was yum to the third power. The Korean steak tacos which I’ve had on another visit with totally awesome as well. I think next time I’m going to try the steak fajitas. And let me finish things off by saying the service was excellent and the entertainment was most excellent. They do not have our primary«signature drinks«Yukon Jack or Red Stag by Jim Beam so we come here when we’re in our margarita mood.

Great home town hangout! Wednesday is busy and it gets pretty loud when the band starts. Not a good night to go if you want to have conversation. New menu looks great! But I can’t pass up the tacos! Friendly staff too! If you’ve ever been there, chances are the girls will remember what you drink

Since we have been coming to Mikes for the past year the food has gotten better and more consistent. The margaritas are wonderful and they carry the newest beer. Not your fathers root beer!

We have eaten here often. The food is excellent and so is the chef. The menu gets better all the time. Very gourmet burgers ! The ribs are excellent !! Tacos are the best we have ever eaten. The make the shells fresh and their nacho chips too. Food and drink specials daily ! A favorite of the locals ! Give them a try you’re gonna like em !

Went here tonight for dinner. This was our third time her. First visit we were told the kitchen was closed at 8:30 when other patrons were eating but there was a snowstorm so that was understandable. We gave the place a second try on burger night on a Tuesday. The burgers are $ 5 on Tuesdays and well worth it service was a little slow but that can be over looked due to special. Now that brings us to our third visit tonight my husband had the steak street tacos and I had a steak chimi. Now I was not expecting world class Mexican cuisine but I was expecting some meat and it was just about nonexistent on both our dishes. I told my husband to say something to the server which he did because his taco was basically tortilla, cheese, onion, and cilantro when he specifically stated no onion. Normally I wouldn’t make such a big deal but when I asked for the manager to come over and explain all she could say was that they were preporportioned, did not offer substitution but did state we were free to order something else off the menu. I’m still really not sure what to make out of this experience. It really sucks when you find someplace that serves decent drinks but just has poor customer service skills I do want to mention that I did not fault my server at all for the management mishap.

Meh… we came back here to try it again after it changed from Tres amigos. We really did not care for Tres amigos but wanted to see the difference. It certainly is an improvement, but not enough to make it a regular thing. The chorizo dip was runny and not very flavorful the sangria had enough cherry flavor that it reminded me slightly of cough medicine. The highlight was the burger. We had the drunken pig burger and it was quite good. The fries that came with it were way too greasy(I think the oil was not hot enough) our server was friendly and attentive and nicely dressed. I did notice one of the other servers that looked like she was trying to dress 20 years younger than her age. Her hair was unkempt. She did seem quite friendly though. We really felt that the lack of any music the room made us feel like we were in a library and had to keep quiet because we could hear everyone else’s conversation.

There is very little«southwest» about this place other than the name, and a menu of margaritas does not make a Mexican restaurant. The place is clean but bland with little decoration to create a southwest atmosphere. The main room features a large bar, but not much else. Additionally a number of HD televisions are above the bar, but none with an HD signal. Service was fine, but the food was poor. The chips were clearly food service basics, nothing special and little flavor. The salsa was either canned or made from over processed canned diced tomatoes and chilies. There was no attempt to add spices and flavoring. A «hot» version simply had liquid from a picked pepper to add heat. I tried a «Tex-Mex» offering, Tacos with Rice and Beans. Again food service taco shells and ground beef with little flavor. The rice and beans were both dry and were not scratch made. Disabled access is ok. Location does not accept American Express. There are plenty of Mexican, southwest or Tex-Mex joints in the area that overall offer a better experience. This is one that should be avoided.
