I never thought to write a review.
I’ve been dancing for Mahana for roughly 9 years.
5 stars: for director. She is attentive to dancers needs. Offers extra practices. You learn new routines/​dance season.
This is a performance group so you can’t compare it to dance company. There is no vigorous training. You meet once a week and get warmed up… ie. Tahitian/​Hawaiian warmups, then you’re off learning routines.
Upside: because it’s a performance group, you learn routines quickly so you are ready to so shows.
And YES. You get PAID when you dance!!!
Different pay for different levels.
The director does not switch out costumes every year which saves you money.
Downside: there is no one hour Tahitian warmups or workouts like that. There isn’t live drummers or male dancers.
Totally worth the experience.

What a great small business, run buy a wonderful women. I contacted three different business’s for a luau birthday party. Sunny, the owner of Mahana contacted me right away. She was very professional and their prices where the best in town. On the day of the party I was contacted that the dancer was stuck in traffic so she would be 30 minutes late. That was no problem and the other dancer was on time. The show started about 20 minutes late not 30. Anyways, the show was well worth the wait. Both dancers had exceptional skill and personality. They had great crowd involvement and energy. I highly recommend this business for all you Polynesian events. Thanks Sunny for such a great day.

Sunny Purcell is AMAZING. She is the owner of this entertainment group, and was our dance instructor. My fiancé and I wanted to take hula lessons for our wedding and Sunny made it happen. In 2 hours she taught us a 2 minute dance routine to perform for our guests. She is so patient and fun, it made the entire experience so easy. We love Sunny and would recommend her group for private lessons or any party entertainment. ALOHA and MAHALO Sunny!
