7 months later, I’m on my 4^th haircut to fix the WORST haircut of my entire life. I was not willing to chop my hair off to my ears to fix the weed wack job I got at Salon U so its been a long ardous process! Broken bones heal faster.
The only offer to «fix» it was to go back in and let Janna «soften» the layers. Pffft no!
The owner didn’t seem to give a flying f#/^ that her salon mngr ruined my hair. Did zero to offer to fix it herself or compensate me for the damages.
I’m still annoyed and still cutting around the mess she created.

I highly recommend Janna at Salon U. She is very meticulous and does an amazing job with my hair. I have had her stack my hair in an awesome bob and it looks great every time. Love my highlights and color! I get complimented on my hair all the time and feel so great when I walk out! Go see her you will be happy

My experience is always great at Salon U. It’s like visiting old friends! Jenna always has a smile and a warm greeting for me. Katy is a phenomenal hair stylist and saved me from a horrible hair cut. I am almost grateful for that bad hair cut and color because it brought me to Katy and Salon U!

This week I had my first haircut at Salon U, and it was a GREAT experience! Last June I was given the last of a series of bad cuts at another salon and had let my hair grow out since in hopes of finding someone who knows what she’s doing and would actually style my hair to best support my natural wave. MaryAlice looked me over and immediately knew what she needed to do make my hair perform in the best possible way. What a treat to have a professional stylist who knows what to do instead of wanting to be led every step of the way! Thank you, MaryAlice!

Having only been in Austin for about 6 months now, I was apprehensive about new salons. (I was a loyal 10 year customer of my previous salon back home in Detroit)
Since it was not very practical to jump on a plane every time I wanted color or a trim… I took advice from a male co-​worker and gave Salon U (specifically Katy) a shot.
The last experience (at a different salon in Lakeway area) I was left mildly unhappy… so I adjusted my expectations accordingly. This was a HUGE mistake on my part because I kicked myself ever doubting the outcome of my visit.
From the time I walked in… to the time I left (almost 2 hours, and multiple services later) I received the best customer service and care from both Katy and the staff at Salon U.
Let’s get into what really counts. KATY IS A TRUE ARTIST!
Backing up a bit, she spent over 20 minutes talking with me about what I did and did not like about my hair, what I expected the end result to be… etc etc. I had never had someone take the time to understand what I wanted! pretty incredible.
When I said that Katy is an artist… I really mean that. I don’t think my color has ever looked this good… and placed with such precision. Her style and abilities blew me away.
Thank you… thank you… thank you! The salon back home is now just a distant memory… my hair has finally found it’s new home in Austin LOL

Amazing salon, great staff. Katie a is a very talented hair stylist! I’m so happy I found something close to me. Shampoo chairs are very comfortable. They also offer some great products to choose from!

Whitney has been cutting and coloring my hair for the last few months and she does such a great job. I’m always getting compliments on the cut. I went to her after a bad cut somewhere else and not only did she fix it but gave me a new style I absolutely love!

A hidden jewel of a salon, nestled in a shopping center. Don’t let that persuade you! Janna’s personality is amazing. So bubbly, quite refreshing actually. I’ve gone to her twice and she is a perfectionist. Probably the best hair cut (s) I have had in the last 15 years!!! I sport the hombre and she nails it every time!!! You will not be disappointed!!! Best part, complimentary wine!!!

I have been going to Lleyanne at Salon U for years! She does the BEST blonde highlights and cut. I am SUPER picky about my long hair, but I definitely trust Lleyanne with it! She is always friendly and cheerful. Actually everyone in the Salon is always very friendly. I highly recommend Lleyanne. Book early because she is in high demand!

A blow out and complimentary mimosas! We were visiting Austin and my hair did not like the humidity. Jana squeezed me in on a Saturday and conditioned my hair with a bumble product that left me frizz free for the rest of my trip! Katie, the owner, makes a perfect mimosa and Michelle not only blew out and styled my hair but gave me great tips for making the curl last. Best salon ever and great prices. If only I could take the salon back to Cali with me. Sigh.

I knew that when I was greeted with «want some coffee or a mimosa?» instead of the usual water (or nothing) that I was in for a treat. Excellent service, cozy salon, wonderful friendly staff, and I came out with the best darn haircut I’ve ever had. My hair’s never looked this good before! These guys take hair cutting to the next level by treating it like an art instead of just a routine snip. I’ll definitely be back!
Tips for first-​timers: they’re in the same unit as the gym, so go in there and take the door on the left instead of wandering in circles outside for 15 minutes in confusion like I did. And the Bumble and Bumble products rock.

I stumbled upon Salon U’s Katy when I needed a new look for summer. I’ve had the same long mane (complete with split ends and bad color) since high school and with 3 kids, it was time to get practical! I didn’t know what I wanted. I just told her I needed less hair so I could stand the heat. She made eye contact & was very reassuring — to the point that I relinquished my stubborn ways and agreed to let Katy figure out what would look good with my structure, etc. Six inches later, she spun me around and I fell in LOVE! I will NEVER go back to long & stringy again! I LOVE MY HAIR!!! And my husband did too — to quote him «Um, hon… your hotness factor went UP!» I’ll take it! So Katy is now my PERMANENT stylist and she’s got the Bumble & Bumble products I love (seriously — try the coconut shampoo/​conditioner and DO NOT LEAVE without that hair lotion spray! It’s amazing and smells just like honeysuckle!)
Katy is a sweet, warm, uplifting, optimistic person & it’s seriously a treat to go get my hair done by her. It’s amazing JUST how much therapy a gal can squeeze out of a cut and a color when she picks the right salon!

scott and erica are THE best. scott has been doing my hair for more years than i count and i can always rely on them for amazing hair!

Ask for Lacy! She did a great job on my hair & she holds the key to my locks 4ever. I’m about to make another appointment with Lacy for a trim! I know I wont be disappointed!

Jordan rocks ! she did my little girls’ feathers for $ 5 and even moved one for me that another place put in wrong and would not take out without charge. Very nice and very affordable

Great salon, very personal and great service… I am also getting my hair restoration service (ManeGain) there too! It is awesome and really, really, really works… awesome!!! booyah…

I don’t know the owners of this place and they don’t know me, but seriously, I’ve had a few haircuts in my life, not to mention more highlights than is probably legal, but Scott and Erica at Salon U straight up BLOW ALL OF THE OTHER HAIR FISH STRAIGHT UP OUT OF THE WATER, FOOLS!
If you want your hair to stop being as dumb as the bachelor this season and as awesome as Cher’s, you need to make an appointment.. .

Salon U is great. Scott Finley runs it with his wife Erica, and do it in great taste. It’s upscale and very hip. Scott cut my hair for many years before I moved to Los Angeles and still does when I visit Austin. He’s as good as they come for mens hair. They cost a little bit more than the place in the mall, but there is really no comparison. Get over here if you want the best.

A friend recommended this salon, and I’m glad I checked it out! My appointment was with one of the owners, Erica, and she was very friendly and fun to chat with. She and her husband run a very nice establishment — upscale, but not snooty in the least. We had a good discussion about what I was looking for, and I felt Erica really listened and «got it» before diving in. I’ll be going back, for sure!
