If you happened to be hungry while at Barona casino try the Ho Wan restaurant on the 2nd floor all the way to the end of the food court. We ordered my favorite dish, the«Korean Ribs»(#29 on the menu) and the«Philippine Pancit»(#13 on the menu). The food was so tasty, loved the kimchi that came with the korean ribs. Caroline, the attendant is so great and very friendly. She even suggested what to have the next time we are hungry again. Customer service is awesome!

Absolutely disgusting! We JUST ate here — normally ok, but got Friday Special of Cashew Chicken and Pad Thai. Cashew Chicken was totally overwhelmed by the celery — had to hunt for the chicken bits and no taste. Pad Thai was made with glass noodles and wet noodles. This place is supposedly voted best noodle house? Such a joke — may as well get Panda Express or some other Americanized Asian food in there … They’re cooked in big batches and just served up vs. supposedly freshly-cooked at Ho Wan, but it’s edible. Still can’t get that celery taste out if my mouth … Bbbbbrrrrr!!! Going to get Hot Dogs !!!

The food is pretty good. I ordered the duck and chicken. The duck was overly cooked but other than that not bad.

Yep all of us were throwing up now! Me, my 22-month-old, and my four-year-old! They were the only ones that shared a few bites of my pad Thai! Almost $ 50 bucks for this crap!!!

Fast service but unappealing food. Korean beef tastes more like Chinese beef, kimchee is mediocre at best, Filipino lumpia is ok but comes with a packet of generic sweet and sour sauce that was not very good. If you want anything close to authentic, forget it.

Just visiting this area. Enjoyed ourselves in the casino. We stopped by for a bite. The shrimp fried rice was outstanding. When we are in this area again we will come back

I have had Phở from several places, but Ho Wan makes the absolute best. I usually order Shrimp Phở, which is not on the menu, but they are happy to customize. The broth is what makes this dish stand out and the shrimp is never over cooked. They know what they’re doing here. This place received the Best Phở/Noodle award in San Diego for a reason. It’s the best! Their Malaysian rice is exquisite and their orange chicken is superb. And as always the staff is very friendly. Hats off to Frank, Carolyn and the wonderful chefs in the kitchen.

I’d been gambling, I was starving and I had high hopes for this place. Granted, it’s located in a food court at Barona, which gives it some room to slip a little, but I still expected just a tad bit more. The line… oh boy the line. It’s better than the cattle call waiting at the buffet(which I love), but this place is the main attraction when it comes to the food court. Ya know what? I think the reason for the long and slow moving line is because it is a confusing process. They have a small menu board waiting near the line but absolutely nobody sees it. It’s not until you get up to the counter that you’ll find a binder with each item taking up an individual page with a picture of it. Take care of this earlier in the process and things would move much more smoothly. The food was, eh… alright at best. I ordered the red Thai chicken curry with rice and while the portion was a decent size, it lacked flavor and the chicken was hard to track down. There were a few times that I thought I had hit the jackpot with a big juicy piece of chicken but it turned out to be a potato. Yeah, they sneak a lot of those potatoes in there to build you up and break you down. Cruel, Ho Wan… just cruel. Not bad for a casino food court but wouldn’t stand a chance on the mean streets of Clairemont. Just sayin’…

Always a long line, but definitely worth the wait… and it seems to move along rather quickly. Everything is damn good! Seafood lovers, try the Cantonese seafood. It’s no longer on the menu, but you can still ask for it. They also call it rice noodle with seafood. You seat yourself, and when they scream out your order number, you sort of flag them, and they bring everything to you. :)

long line, slow service. VERY pricey for Chinese food, especially at a Casino that already takes your money. Once food prepared, it took another 6 – 7 minutes for someone to pick it up and bring to my table. Then she stood there waiting like she expected a tip for bringing my food late and cold. hard to imagine.

For a food court chinese restaurant, this place is awesome. In fact. even for a chinese restaurant standard, this place still ranks at one of the tops in terms of selection and quality. They also claim that they have been voted in serving the best phở in town. I’m not sure if i agree with that dish, since it is prob 40% over-priced and the phở doesn’t taste that authentic. What i do like is everything else! Their chicken over rice dish is amazing. I normally don’t like eating chinese soy sauce chicken, but i changed my mind after my friend ordered it for me. I also love their pork egg noodle dish! actually, anything with egg noodles in it tastes freaking good! Overall, if you ever find yourself at Barona, check out this place! You won’t be disappointed!

This seems to be the go-to place for all the Asian gamblers who cannot seem to stomach non-Asian food. Part of the intrigue in Ho-Wan is that they try and cater to all Asian ethnicities, and subethnicities. You can pick from a selection of Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, and Filipino foods. This strategy though seems to result in a jack-of-all-trades master-of-none complex. Most of all their dishes end up being just palatable… enough to get your Asian food fix. Ironically, prices tend to be on the higher side. Their saving grace is their daily special which is priced at around 5 bucks. You get soup and an entrée — Mondays is orange chicken, Tues — beef & broccoli, Wed — Beef Lo mein, Sat/Sun — some kind of shrimp dish such as Kung Pao shrimp and salt & pepper shrimp($ 7). If you are having a need to satisfy your Asian food fix, Ho Wan will help you to satisfy it. Expect authentic selections, but just don’t expect the food to be impressive and you won’t be overly disappointed.

For the price that you pay for each dish, it’s not very good. I came here when it was late at night, and I was really hungry. When you’re hungry, you tend to think of everything as delicious. but not this one. We had the seafood noodles, which tasted bland. The seafood wasn’t very fresh. The char siu(roast pork) was«dark», clearly a mark of very old meat. The beef brisket noodle soup was just okay, but nothing too special.

I like the fried rice selections. These are great. But other choices can range from bad to very bad. Phở tastes like instant phở and Wonton seem to be ordered from some third party vendor. Some items are way overpriced but since they are free if you play, the whole deal isn’t too bad.

You should know that the only time I ever give a place a 5-star rating is when I’ve immediately fallen in love with their food by continuously saying«YUMYUMYUMYUMYUMYUM — YUM!» I ordered the shrimp and pork wonton soup and it was so amazing! I couldn’t believe how good it was. I thought it was just my plate that tasted good, but I had some of my boyfriend’s mom’s shrimp fried rice and it was so good! Kind of peppery — like you can taste the white pepper, but I LOVE white pepper! I also tried some of his sister’s salt and pepper shrimp, YUMYUMYUM! Maybe I came on a lucky day, ’cause I did win some money that day too. However, I noticed that all the chefs behind the counter were asian — so that might explain the yummy authenticity of the food that day!

When families flock to Barona Casino, they usually get in line for the award-winning buffet(which is yummy too). However, my family heads straight for Ho Wan for their tasty fried rice, pad thai, and beef rice noodles! If you’re gambling and you’re in the mood for some delicious Asian food, Ho Wan will definitely hit the spot :) hey, you might even catch me there! Happy eating!
