Decent food with large portions. Very friendly staff and very clean place. Full bar and sushi master was very good.

Went here last night with another couple. Website said open until 11pm. We got there at 9:30 and felt very rushed by the staff. The sushi was ok… a bit pricey. We tried the lobster roll, $ 26. it was pretty good, but I think they could have added a little more to the roll, or lower the price. It was just an okay experience, average sushi, and a bit pricey. I guess it’s worth a try, but not sure if we will be going back.

Been here many many times. Food is fresh an well executed for a straight sushi place. I did not have much choice years ago when this was the only local sushi restaurant. However, 9 out of 10 times I have felt rushed and almost like the servers were badly pretending to be genuine and nice. Now I have choices. For those who have not read my reviews — stop reading reviews from those who only post several times. Stop posting one bad service experience. Give it 3 try’s before you slam them. We’re human. Stop complaining about the price. Fresh well prepared food will cost you a lot more and it’s worth it. Stop serving us unimaginative bland food in the suburbs. We want the same food you serve in the city.

Love Kobe East! It’s a great atmosphere and the food is great. Love their sushi. Just discovered the spicy beef ramen soup. I know, sounds cheesy but it’s actually really good. Flavorful broth, lots of veggies, tender beef and its spicy. I love the tempura ice cream but apparently so does everyone else. Sometimes they are out. If they have it, must get it!!!

Decent sushi. I almost gave 4 stars, but I was looking for sushi that was a little more adventurous. The service was great. Super friendly. I liked my appetizer the best.

Very surprising, literally an empty restaurant when we sat down and still empty except for us when leaving. Hate to say we stopped in here because our fav sushi is closed on Mondays but that is the reason for the visit. The hostess: server was not friendly and honestly appeared put off that she had to work. She was in the back near the sushi bar when we walked in and instead of a pleasant greeting she loudly said«come back here». Not very inviting. Ordered sashimi, negi beef(omg it was way too sweet) and tempura app. Didn’t find the fish as fresh tasting, or fresh in texture as we have come to expect. Wish it had been better but we won’t be back.

Came here for a family dinner. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the area, but this was my first time back in 4+ years. They tried to cram 3 families(9 people total) at one table/grill, despite the fact that half the tables were open. One of the other families left immediately because it was so cramped. We ordered a variety of meat choices from their hibachi menu. Our chef was a disappointment. Part of the hibachi experience is the show, and the only trick our chef did was the steam volcano(although he messed up the initial separation of the onion rings and ended up only making a squat, 3 level volcano) or interact with anyone at the table other than to make sure he had our orders right. My medium rare steak came out more well done, but it was still ok. Our waiter didn’t really check in on us, but they seemed short staffed despite the fact that half the restaurant was empty. The waiter forgot the california roll and edamame that came with the other family’s order, and when they reminded him, he brought both out in one to go box. The familiy had to get another box and separate it themselves so the hot edamame wouldn’t ruin the sushi roll. Overall, the service left a lot to be desired, and as there are other hibachi restaurants in the area, I don’t think we’ll be coming back.

Decent sushi for the area though the nigiri was a bit light on the fish. Their ginger dressing for the salad was great. I’d come back until I find a better option.

I am in heaven. I finally found the one roll that’s my favorite back home and now I can enjoy it here in the Midwest. BSCR is the best thing ever made. I came here for dinner take out and it was absolutely amazing still when I got home. I need to bring my family here next time. I only tried that one roll. I will definitely come back and try the rest of their rolls. Another good thing I saw is that they have outdoor seating. Baked scallops California roll is so creamy. Good enough masago and yummy goodness. Can’t get enough of 1 order. Must have at least 2 order. Will definitely come back and if it’s warm enough, we will be sitting outside. Quick service. Friendly waitress. It’s not that far from home. I can’t believe I missed it all these years living around here!

This place is an absolute joke when it comes to sushi. I completely disagree with any other review I’ve read so far. I’ve worked in the area for several years, I’ve gave these people numerous chances to up their game, yet still they’re making the same mistakes. No wonder this place is empty at lunch nearly every time I go. A few words of advice for the owners: 1. Make sure to hire professional sushi chefs. 2. Advise the chefs that they are there to roll the sushi, not squeeze it to the shape of triangle. 3. One layer of single grain rice on the nori is absolutely scandalous to say the least, all you can taste is the nori on the first bite, not the rice. 4. Hire professional sushi chefs… Never going back there again.

Best sushi I have ever had! Lived on the west coast for a while and couldn’t find a place that beat it. Service can be a little hit or miss but they are always SOOOO friendly and accommodating!!! The brown/black sushi rice is a must, king crab anything is delish!

I completely agree with the post regarding the daughter, which BTW when I called to voice my concerns, stated she is the owner and there isn’t anyone else to talk to. Very very interesting… The food isn’t bad, the prices are so so but the service is horrible. My company used to order from there at least 2 times a month, spending anywhere from $ 150.00-$ 200 or more depending on the number of people. However after my last visit I REFUSE to order from this place again. The«daughter» needs to be fired or I promise you your business will close due to lack of business. She is rude, inconsiderate and makes you feel like you are doing her a favor by ordering. Well by what I am reading here, you’ve lost a hand full of regulars and will continue to do so until changes are made.

Amazing food, perfectly cooked, peaceful atmosphere, very friendly service, quick, yet delicate and intricate preparation of their sushi rolls makes this place a very awesome one indeed.

I had a very mixed experience when I went here. The food was really good but the service was lackluster… boreline rude. There are better places that are cheaper in Lake Zurich.

Udated 12÷5÷14 Decided to give this place another try, and as a result, I’m bumping them up a half star to a full 3. Maybe a touch above. The towels are back, and both hostess and server were very nice. Based on lunch yesterday, I’d put them back in the rotation. 2 ½ Stars Has something changed? The hot towels are gone and after I ordered my salmon teriyaki lunch box, the waitress served the salad and miso soup and came back to tell me that they are low on salmon and had to save it for the sushi. So I couldn’t have the salmon. How about the chicken? So you HAVE salmon but you won’t serve it to me? Is it a different salmon for the teriyaki and the sushi? No, she says. Well, I realize that sushi represents more profit, but their inventory ordering should not be my problem. Very disturbed by this. I order it with chicken, but let her know I am unhappy. Meal arrives with salmon. Whaddya know? Upped to 3 stars after a 1 week period in the penalty box. (8÷13) … and back down to 2 again. If half-stars were permitted, they’d get 2 ½. Ordered the salmon teriyaki lunchbox again and asked if I could have something as a substitute for the tempura. The waitress said she could give me some extra vegetables. Fine, I said. Then, as if an afterthought, she said it would be a dollar extra. Fine, I’m trying to eat healthier, so Fine. The stir fried veggies were tasty, though for some reason almost all onion. The plate had teriyaki beef instead of salmon, but they changed it out pretty quickly. When the check came, they hadn’t added the dollar, which the waitress made a point of telling me. I didn’t begrudge the dollar, though I thought it petty. And making sure I was aware that they hadn’t charged me after all … well it just seemed awkward and … well … petty again. Ah well, I found a much better place just a mile or so away. I’ll do a writeup on that very soon. But until then … it’s pretty new, it’s called Sake Sushi, and it’s really good.

I have been to Kobe East three times for lunch. By far, the highest quality and best price sushi lunch around. I always get one of the boxes and am more than satisfied when I am done. Great quiet atmosphere and a terrific wait staff. I am not sure how busy they get for dinner. Kobe is GREAT for small business lunches! Also, Kobe is great for sushi first timers! I always take first timers to a high quality place because sushi is typically an acquired preference. To me sushi is really two acquired«tastes»…actual taste and texture. If you like seafood, taste usually isn’t a big deal at a quality place(it’s a huge deal at a bad place as bad sushi is really gross). Texture is another story and the harder part to acquire and trying a variety of items is key to getting around the«squishy» initial texture.

I have been here quite a few times for lunch with my friends. Prices are awesome and you get a lot of food. The Kobe Soup is the best. :) I have never been to the hibachi bar next store but I heard it was really expensive.

This is a good place to go for very good quality sushi and good though confusing(too many people) service. Don’t bother with the«Tempura Ice Cream». It’s basically vanilla ice cream cut into a cube which is battered and deep fried. When served, the batter didn’t seem to be fully cooked and was just mushy instead of having a crunch. The ice cream itself had freezer burn and was nothing special. Bleh… We’ve been here a number of times over several years and have had some strange experiences: Miso soup that tasted like dish detergent(the chef claimed it was fine); We ordered a hand roll properly on their order form, the waitress verbally confirmed that it was a handroll, and we were served maki; Oh yeah, they also tried to charge me an extra $ 10 for uni which I didn’t order and didn’t receive. Check your bill!
