Very nice owners, great gyros, pork kebabs, AMAZING crisp fries, yummy patty melt
Definitely a go to place with great food.
Pricing is reasonable and there’s even table service.

Their quality of food is always consistent! They are priced just right for the amount of food that you get. The staff is very friendly! Their grilled chicken breast is delicious!!!
The only suggestion that we would have would be to add either Grecian potatoes or rice to their menu… it would go really well with the kabobs!

The food is delicious here. Ordered the Italian beef, gyros, chili cheese fries, veggie burger and pizza puffs. The Italian beef rivals Portillos in taste and is bigger.
The owners are so friendly and you can tell they take pride in delivering great food. It’s worth the trip if you don’t live in Lake Zurich!!!

I would recommend this place to anyone and will be back: had a great Chicago dog. place was clean, service was cordial, and the order was done quickly. I don’t want to belabor the point; try this place.

I MUST be missing something, because everyone else has nothing but good things to say about this place. Maybe we went here on an off day? Because their gyros were average and my husband and I are kind of gyro snobs

Best. Chicken. Gyro. Ever. The sauce was amazing. The chicken very flavorful. Fresh tomato. Outstanding sandwich!
Hubby had Italian Beef. The sandwich was generously piled high with beef, but it was dry and needed more gravy or a red sauce. Not asking for extra gravy was his fault, not theirs.
Very friendly, warm people behind the counter. This is a winner in Lake Zurich. We’ll be back because I know I’ll be craving that gyro!

Excellent food, great gyros, crispy bread. The fries are good and the portions are huge. You could split a combo. Nice atmosphere too.

Didn’t find out about this place until yesterday searching Unilocal for Lunch suggestions in my area. Well, it paid off. For you wondering, this is a cone shaped gyro, not the free form rustic gyro. They use a knife, not the cutting tool to cut the meat off. But here is the good thing about this place. The heat to the meat is only turned on until you order a gyro. At the other gyro place in LZ, the heat is constantly on, resulting is meat that is tough and falls apart. This gyro I had yesterday, the meat was tender, flavorful and succulent. The pita was warmed well and not too oily. The onions were thinly sliced and perfect. And the crinkle fries were awesome. The only thing I would recommend would be to fully upgrade a value meal, not just the drink. Overall, great gyro. Will definitely try something new next time.

Really great gyros, chicken gyros, and chicken kebab plate. Generous portions and well priced. SO glad to finally have a yummy food option in downtown LZ!

Just go!!! If you like a good gyro you’re in luck, the gyros here are better than good, they are GREAT!!! Best I have ever had. I had the Chicken Gyro sandwich and the hubby had a regular Gyro sandwich, both were fab! The crinkle fries were tasty too!
Also, we met the owners who are the nicest people. Looking forward to a return visit very soon.

Like another reviewer mentioned, I was a regular customer at «The Works» for years way back when I used to live in Glenview. When I heard that our newest independent establishment in Lake Zurich was owned by the same family, I had to beeline it in there and give it a try. So glad I did.
I love to support independent establishments, but sometimes they are just not good enough to make the effort after awhile. Thankfully this is not one of those places. Though I just got the hot dog combo, the dog had all the right Chicago style toppings including the poppy seed bun and celery salt. I hate when places are careless about getting it right! And the fries were hot and crisp, delicious. Prices are very reasonable too. The atmosphere was very Lake Zurich, which is a good thing.
I was getting ready to leave when the owner came out and we got to talking about our mutual connection with The Works” and he insisted I try their gyros to see if they were as good as the old days. Even though I was full, my sample of meat and homemade tzatziki sauce tasted excellent, can’t wait to go back when I am hungrier and have the whole sandwich. And he said he’d make me my old favorite from the old days, two hot dogs on French bread with whatever toppings you like yum!
Can’t wait to go back. Come on you guys from the old neighborhood, I know lots of you live in the area, give Craving Gyros a shot.

A hidden gem in downtown Lake Zurich. Friendly staff, delicious chicken gyros, large portions and a good variety to choose from, I’d definitely recommend it!

You have no idea what A great place just opened downtown. These people used to own Tasty Spin in Buffalo Grove besides being a sweet hard-​working couple they definitely have the best Gyro in America. End of discussion-​I love these guys and the food — stop in you’ll be back time and again — oh yeah the chicken gyros amazing too

Their gyro and homemade tzatziki sauce is absolutely to die for! Best I’ve ever had! I have gone there a few times already and I can honestly say everything I’ve tried so far has been delicious.
