Love this place, you can rent a boat and fish, play volleyball, grill. I’ve been coming here for years. It’s well worth the $ 10 entrance fee.

Jack and Lydia’s Resort — A Fishing, Picnicking, Swimming Resort This resort is a lost jewel in what was once many fishing resorts scattered throughout northern Illinois. You can fish here, swim here, picnic here, and get great food here. Honest. Too bad the previous reviewer didn’t know how to row, didn’t know that fish like weeds, and didn’t have the patience to learn. I’ve fished here many times, and I’m getting better. You get a rowboat for $ 15 for all day. If you can’t row, then bring an electric motor or under 10HP motor. Days ago on November 1, 2008 on a difficult fall day for fishing, a friend and I caught a beautiful 4 ½ pound bass outside the eastern weedline. The lake has bluegill, bass, and northern pike. It also has large carp and some black crappie. The lake is deep and the water is very clear. Anyway, the resort is owned by a Polish-American family that has owned it for 30 years. Come for the fishing, drop in around noon to the bar for a cold Polish beer, come in for dinner at the Reflections Restaurant for a wonderful Deep Lake burger(or duck on Saturdays and Sundays). And did I mention the beautiful women sun bathing during summer? Oh my goodness. It’s a great place, where everyone is welcomed regardless of race, color, or creed. Yes, I greatly enjoy the fishing and hospitality of Jack and Lydia’s Resort. Kayak Rich PS: May 12, 2009. Two weeks ago, I went fishing with my great-nephew at Deep Lake. A windy day, I needed my 4HP motor. Unfortunately, the motor ran but the propeller’s didn’t move. That’s because I had broken a 50 cent part named a shearing pin. Guess what. Jack replaced the broken shearing pin with one from his shed and wouldn’t take money for the repair. Trust me, that repair cost me $ 100 last year. Jack is a great resort owner.

This is a fishing resort that rents boats, has a polish restaurant and rents cottages. We went there to give fishing a try, and that was my first mistake. I have no right to go fishing, I’m quite terrible at any skill required in fishing. They rented us 2 boats for 4 people, we were told that they would be motor boats, but we got to the boats … no motor. The lady at the counter had a really heavy Polish accent, so I guess that might have been a mis communication. Guess what, I suck at rowing too. The boats were dilapidated and quite honestly a bit scary. I saw 1 with a license plate welded to the boat to cover up a hole in it. In their defense it was a hole above the water line. The anchors were radiator fluid bottles filled with sand. It was a beautiful day, but exceptionally windy, and in turn, the water was really choppy. The dock we left off of was surrounded by a 30′ thick nest of seaweed. For those of you that never had to row through seaweed, ITSUCKS! The winds blew us 20′ over for every 10′ forward we rowed. By the time we got a decent distance away from the seaweed nest, I was already quite sure I hated this whole experience so I never even touched my fishing pole. My son gave it a try for a little while and seemed to have a decent time. He fished until his hook got caught up in the seaweeds and broke his line. Even with the«anchors» down, we were still being blown a good distance from the dock. When it was time to leave, we tried to row to the dock, but the winds were too strong. I saw this wasn’t going well so I steered us toward shore. We ended up being blown 4 properties over. Fed up I tied the boat up to god knows who’s dock and treked back to the office. We dropped off the vests and explained where our boats were, it seemed like a fairly common occurrence. If you actually enjoy fishing or are good at it, your experience may vary.
