This place should be called Complete Chaos. They cant decide whether they want to be a sit down restaurant or a take out pizza shop. We arrived at 545 on a Sat night and were told that they had reservations for all of the inside tables but they could sit us outside on the porch. What they didnt tell us is when you dont have a reservation you are treated like a red headed stepchild. We were the first couple seated out of 4 outside. The waiter claimed he was the owner’s brother and it was only his second day waiting tables. This excuse would be used many times to try to explain the service or lack thereof. We did get our drinks right away then waited for 30 min for a lukewarm appetizer of spinach artichoke dip and salty tortilla chips through an endless stream of people coming to pick up takeout and slamming an infernal screen door that I eventually wanted to rip off the hinges and throw in the road. Another couple got the same appetizer with twice the amount of dip. They had ordered a couple salads and a pizza but grew so tired of waiting they threw 15.00 on the table and walked out. We were still waiting as of 700. Two men behind us were still waiting on hamburgers. The couple next to us was still waiting on their pizza. Finally, what we thought was our pizza arrived only to find it was the pizza that the departed couple had ordered followed close behind by their goat cheese salad delivered by the 10 year old replacement waitress. This threw everyone into a tizzy. We were so disgusted we paid for the wrong pizza and were given the appetizer free by a woman who was apparently the owner. She apologized for her«idiot» brother and the fact that«food takes longer when you dont have reservations» huh? Finally we escaped at 745. So, basically, the waitstaff blames the kitchen and the owner blames the waitstaff and they cant handle 30 people on a Sat night due to understaffing, inexperience or whatever. Stay away from this rudderless ship at all costs. I would give them a zero if I could.

First off only go here if you have half a day to wait for the food. I have dined here twice on two separate trips at least a year apart and on both visits the service was inexcusably slow. Slow to take the order; slower to bring the food; and, slowest to get the check. We ordered a couple of 12 inch pizzas after waiting over thirty minutes. Forty five minutes later they show up with two 8 inch pizzas for each ordered 12 inch one because they were out of 12 inch pizzas. After another 50 minutes of waiting to pay, I went downstairs to request the check. The nerd in me made the mistake of pointing out that two eight inch pizzas is actually over 10% less pizza than one 12 inch one.(Remember pi*r2, do the math and it is 13% less pizza). The owner, thinking linearly, said I was wrong, 8+8 was greater than 12, and implied that I was a skinflint jerk though I hadn’t asked for any discount. I was just casually stating a fact. Things went south fast from there. First, they said they did me a favor by allowing us to eat there, and then wanted my name so they could go to my table and embarrass me. I raised my hand to signal I had heard enough, but then they started to imply that I had tried it strike the owner! This triggered them to call me names: jerk, d*ck, etc. Throughout it all, I was either silent or trying the refrute the latest barrage. I could see I would never stop this from escalating, so I simply turned around and returned to my table. The owner came upstairs and made good on her promise to attempt to embarrass me. She then said the meal was on the house. We paid the bill in full with tip in cash. Obviously, I’ll never return. But I hope you eat twice at the Brown Trout rather that waste your time suffering the mediocre and glacial experience at this place. FYI: the pizzas were cold and weren’t anything special.

Pleasantly surprised! We had some of the most fabulous Lamb Chops in this modest byob establishment. My husband said his Cajun Chicken Pasta was fantastic. The Crème Brûlée Cheesecake was a great way to wrap up our delicious evening. We will most definitely make a point eating here again.

Really should be at least 4.5 stars. Food was delicious with huge servings and great prices. Only complaints at all were time from ordering to serving(but worth the wait if not in a hurry), and hubby asked for seasoned fries, but they were not seasoned. Staff was friendly and attentive. Hubby says bacon cheeseburger was one of the best he’s had! Chicken Bradley was yummy and toasted bread for both sandwiches really was perfection.

Quiet little café in the mountains. Family owned and operated. Everything is homemade and very fresh. Reasonable priced … Great for lunch…
