Came here for lunch with a couple of friends, and many things were wrong with the service and food. First of all, the owner of this restaurant is one of the nastiest and rudest individuals I have ever seen. Not only did she have a snippy attitude, but she was absolutely DISGUSTING to our waitress. We were served by a young girl, around 19, who was nice and accommodating. Accidentally, she gave us two edamame instead of one. This was probably because my parents were there too sitting at a different table across the restaurant, and they also ordered edamame. We told the owner two were given to us by accident, and instead of taking the uneaten edamame from our table, she took the eaten one and gave it to my parents. Little did she know that those were my parents she did that to. Also, she was SCREAMING at this poor young girl in the back in the kitchen, and it was very loud and all of the restaurant could hear. This poor girl had tears in her eyes the whole time serving us. I felt extremely uncomfortable. Secondly, the food is terrible. I ordered shrimp gyoza and got what looked like some type of pastry with something inside that didn’t taste like shrimp at all. I am very fair when it comes to food reviews, and this was plain gross. To the owner of the restaurant: you do not deserve to be serving food, let alone owning a restaurant. Maybe try treating your staff like human beings instead of worthless nothings. Shame on you for your appalling lack of manners and even more appalling, your food. I hope your business goes to shit. Thank you, I won’t be coming again!

Chinese food is very good, environment is nice and clean. Some dishes are very genuine and easilly comparable to a good one I can find in LA or NYC. Japanese sushi amd roll also met my expectation. The chef is awesome, who cook great Chinese dishes, as well as sushi and thai food.

My GF and I settled on this restaurant on a recent overnight stay. I love sushi and this place seemed to be a bit removed from Main street so I was hoping it would not be as busy. We where the only ones sitting at the sushi bar. The owner a very friendly woman was behind the bar preparing. She was alone and appeared to be a bit overworked and behind in her preparations. Her children where waiting tables. They where cute and tried very hard but were really too young to properly wait tables. I had the tuna trio which included sashimi. It took here quite awhile to prepare my sushi once I received it the tuna seemed quite fresh but honestly I’ve tasted better. Miso soup was very salty and a bit bitter to the point where I only have a few spoonfuls. Seaweed salad was good, however I enjoy mine chilled a bit. I suppose this is a fine restaurant for some its just that there are so many good choices in a small town like Lake Placid, so unfortunately this one missed the mark and we won’t be returning.

Sad to see such poor reviews here. From my experience, none would be deserved. Did not try any entrees, but had an extremely enjoyable sushi and warm Saki experience. Sushi was fresh, delicious and exactly what we were craving. The warm saki was a great addition to the meal, and trust me when I say, they don’t skimp on the saki! Overall, my experience was wonderful. Will be back and hope to try more food options than sushi! 4⁄5 stars based on not having tried anything but their sushi.

So my boyfriend and I came here because I was really craving Chinese food and the menu looked decent and there was no wait. I have to say, probably if you wanted to get Mexican or Japanese food at this place, not a good idea, but the Chinese food was on point! The owner was definitely Chinese so that makes sense. We had wonton soup and hot and sour soup which were standard. Good but nothing special. Then we had the Singapore noodles and Chinese chicken and eggplant which were really good. I can see how the service can be slow because we were like 1 of 3 tables in there and our main entrees prob took 30 minutes, but I could tell it was cooked fresh and was delicious. Our waiter was really nice and attentive. Living in NYC and having had lots of Chinese food, I have to say this dinner was up there. If you’re in the mood for Chinese, I’d go for it. Bigger groups might take even longer though :/

Chinese, Japanese, and Mexican? Must take a genius to pull that off. Sadly, Oshaka doesn’t manage at all. Probably should have known better, but we were hungry. We didn’t even make it to food. Niether the wait staff nor the chef knew anything about their own recipes and were useless when queried about some food allergies in my party. So, we paid for our drinks and left.

What he hell was I thinking??? Worst ever! Cold food, nasty food, the owner tried to argue with me over how shitty everything was. She then went in the back & started screaming at the top of her lungs at her staff so that the entire dining room could hear!!! Her waitress then quit on her! Lmaooo!!!

went here for takeout my first night in lake placid. i should have done more research on Unilocal.the person who«helped» me was extremely rude. it was like she was yelling at me. this was beyond what would be the norm for some of those in-your-face chinese places(i.e. house of nan king in SF). i ordered the szechwan beef. it didn’t take good at all. tasted like something i would have tried to attempt and failed.

why didn’t i read the review before walking in! i want to give this place a 0 star and if possible complain to some sort of bureau about this restaurant… PLEASEAVOIDTHISPLACE! passed by for lunch and decided to go in cuz we were looking for japanese food. awful«Japanese» restaurant that serves Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai food… own by chinese people. got the following: chicken eggplant dish that they charged us «family» price when we ordered from the lunch menu. =T found out when i asked where is my egg roll(which comes with the lunch) Sushi Deluxe which i ordered the lunch menu and they charged me for the larger portion: T asked about both dishes that they made the mistake… the waitress(who was very slow as other reviewers said already) went into the kitchen to ask the«manager» who kept telling us that they can’t do anything about it when they made the mistake giving us the wrong stuff and charging us dinner prices. i don’t know why the manager didn’t come out each time i ask about something… will never come back and hope to find a place to file a complaint on this restaurant to be shut down…
Food was mediocre at best, but steer clear of the wonton soup. What really separates this venue from others is the bad décor(the AC filter in the corner unit had an inch of dirt in the filter) and the biblically poor service. Horrible would be a compliment. RUN!

What a disappointment. We decided to try a new sushi restaurant but this is not somewhere I will be going back to. The fish was not fresh and was very bland. We also ordered a seaweed salad that they obviously did not make in-house. I do not recommend this

I already have issues with Chinese cooking Japanese food; now, I think I need counseling. They’ve attempted to cook Mexican as well! Two years ago, we ignoramously entered this restaurant because we were craving for Japanese cuisine. We soon discovered that it was a Chinese version of Japanese food. I like Chinese; part of me is Chinese. But when my tempura is soaking in oil and my sushi doesn’t taste exactly like sushi, I throw a fit. We never went back. Until recently. We craved for Mexican food this time and my husband noted that he saw a new restaurant. With Luna Loca closed for 2 years now, and Casa del Sol a little out of our way, we agreed to try this. The moment we stepped into the door, we knew we made a mistake. This was the same proprietor of Hunan Oshaka. Apparently, they extended their menu. So now, they not only have Chinese and Japanese, they have Mexican as well. And they call it Mexican City. The food wasn’t as bad as we had dreaded but it wasn’t as flavorful as we hoped for either. And they really scrimp on chips and dip, even if it’s a separate order altogether. It’s strike 2 for us. No more third. We’re walking out.
