Nice view, decent food and value for money. Service might be good on a usual day but, despite staff being friendly, service tonight was poor. long wait for our table(even though we had a reservation), our two steaks were badly overlooked, and at the end of the evening their machine to print checks apparently wasn’t working so we were asked to wait and, when the bill finally did arrive, it was wrong(far higher than it was supposed to be). Add to that we asked that they call our hotel shuttle nearly a half hour before the check was finally fixed but when we went to leave, they still hadn’t called for it, so again we had to wait. Would like to write a better review but unfortunately too many mistakes were made tonight.

Views from this restaurant are absolutely amazing and the food is very good too. I had the delicious Cesar salad with chicken($ 7 plus $ 6 for chicken) and my mom had the salmon($ 22) and said it was absolutely amazing! Prices on some dishes seem high, but there is really something for every budget in my opinion. We went on a rainy day for dinner and started the meal outside on their covered patio but then the wind picked up and we were getting wet so we moved inside. They do have large curtains that block the wind and rain, but we just wanted to go inside. In hindsight, being inside to start would have been fine too because the windows are large enough to see from anywhere inside. They also have a bar if you just want to hang out and not have a real meal. The staff was very accommodating and was right on top of filling our waters and taking away dishes that we were finished with. I would have given this place 5 stars because I really like this place, but it was a little loud inside due to a number of parties that had small children. We went around 5:30 so maybe if we had gone later, there would have been fewer children. Overall, I would recommend this place and will definitely go back the next time I’m in town.

We had a wonderful table and it was a serene but upbeat restaurant on the quieter side of the lake away from the crowds. It almost felt like a private club that was very welcoming. The food was nicely done and it would be even better if the weather was warm enough to sit outside as it has a beautiful view. The steak and the salad dishes were very good, but the pasta was only of average quality in our opinion. The service was quite good too.

Overall: Great view and really really mediocre food. Read on for more in-depth analysis. We read all the Unilocal reviews before coming here, so we knew what we were walking into, but we just couldn’t resist the location of the restaurant — built right over the shore and into the water of Mirror Lake, and westward facing at that(prime sunset viewing!). My advice? Come to this restaurant expecting very little food-wise, and you might be pleasantly surprised! Or it will just meet your expectations, lol. I’m going to specifically put«beautiful view» here since it’s highlighted in the tips and it is literally the only reason this restaurant is alive. The view was awesome, the deck wasn’t crowded on a Friday night at 7(…take that as you will), and the service was good. Here’s what I would recommend staying away from: — the Caesar salad: so so sooo pedestrian, could’ve gotten it at a diner in the middle of nowhere and would’ve been same quality and probably half the price — the salad in a jar: We had a lot of laughs about this one — YES, I know the jar part is tempting because we fell for it too, but DON’T DOIT. It’s a garden salad stuffed into a jar. If you really want a garden salad, get the actual garden salad, it’s cheaper. — the potstickers: I’m torn here, because they were fine, but pretty sure they got them from the market down the street and just warmed them up. Tasted fine, but the price hurt a lil… could’ve made these myself. Food I would go for: — the guide boat: the steak wasn’t good, but the crab cake was pretty good! Other reviews on here have had kind words about this dish, if you’re interested in it I would go for it. — the tomato stack: also probably could’ve made this myself, but I did enjoy after dumping salt on it(welovesalt). — the ahi tuna wonton thingy: probably the most upscale-looking that came out of the kitchen, and it got eaten very quickly — everyone liked it!

Decent service but dated, boring menu and wine. Beautiful view of LP but they need to clean the cobwebs off the railing a bit.

I want to love this place because the view is spectacular and it’s the only of its kind on Mirror Lake. That being said, the food has left me pretty disappointed after our visit over Memorial Day weekend. The pros: –amazing views on the deck overlooking Mirror Lake and facing downtown Lake Placid –friendly accommodating staff –reservations accepted –shuttle available from Crowne Plaza Hotel –small parking lot across the street –Crowne Plaza patrons often given a coupon for 10% off their total bill The cons: –décor indoors could use an update –food continued to disappoint with each course, and we saw other guests verbalizing their disappointment with the quality. we tried the crab cakes and the salmon(recommended to us by waitress) –pretty expensive compared to many of the restaurants in Lake Placid –slow service(kitchen seemed to be behind despite the fact that the restaurant was mostly empty) Hope to give it another shot again because we love the view so much and want to love the food equally! Hoping we just experienced an off night early in the summer season.

Went with the whole family for my dad’s birthday dinner. It was a bit of an impromptu trip, called to make reservations on the actual day, the message stated that they would call back to confirm the reservation. No call. Called back at 4, the response was«oh, yeah, we’ve got you covered.» um, great. Arrived a few minutes early, the hostess was not really a friendly sort, kind of snotty really, and told us that we would have to wait at the bar for a table, and that«we don’t really DO anything for birthdays here»(no worries, the main point was to let them know not to drop the tab in front of the birthday boy. The bartender was equally not very customer service oriented, more than a little uppity, and considering that there were only two other people at the bar it was pretty hard to get the a low down on the drinks. The waiter was AWESOME, the food was pretty good, but overall, I thought that it was a bit overpriced and pretentious for something that was just kind of mediocre.

We dropped by without a reservation for dinner, on a bike ride around the lake, we were nicely accepted and seated on the terrace overlooking the lake. I had beet-cucumber chilled soup wich was excellent but could have been colder, then garden salad with crab cake wich were excellent. The view and an evening breeze were a plus. Very nice experience.

we both got the crab cake over salad. it was fresh and good, better than most i’ve had, and the lemon dressing was nice. my husband got borsht. he liked it. the menu WAS a little schizo. the service was just okay, or rather, we got good service from the waitress who wasn’t ours. we drank lots of water and would have liked more than one piece of bread; we had arrived sweaty on our bikes and opted for a lightish dinner… so i might not want to see the restaurant’s review of US if it existed.(we did leave a good tip, however). to us, the place seemed pleasant and unpretentious, and the food was good. most of the patrons seemed to have made a slight effort to dress up a little. the air on the balcony was a little stifling, but the view was very nice. we felt pretty lucky to have stumbled on this place, since my husband is french and can sometimes be difficult about food.

Save your money and go somewhere else. My husband and I went here on our last night in town. We knew it was pricey but were willing to pay for a nice night out. The service was friendly but not commensurate with the cost of the food. Slow and forgetful would best describe it. Food was mediocre at best. We were disappointed.

Dad’s birthday… lots of fun. Lake Placid still has the charm. Beautiful spot on the lake.

Completely empty which was strange considering they called me to make my change my reservation to 15 min earlier than planned but no big deal. Menu is nice and tuna wonton was good. This is one of the rare occasions where the presentation is above spectacular only to find the food is far below any good quality and mine was not edible beautiful plate, see pic, horrible food. Ordered pepper steak, and yes I did expect pepper. However it was so incredibly swallowed in peppercorn I couldnt eat it and spent most of night picking whole peppercorns out of my mouth. Carrots looked organic and were beautiful but horribly undercooked and basically eating raw carrots. Best thing about meal was the waiter who was great and the side of melted cheese sauce I got for steak. Really really sad actually. Perfect example of chef not tasting food. Also on a side note absokutely beautiful view of lake except we were watching a window full of creepy spiders on the outside which was completely disturbing. Waiter said they needed a boat to get them and no one would do it. Aweful. Also horrible cut off meat couldnt cut or chew

They open at 5 pm most of the days during the summer. We made a reservation and then came in at 5. We were suprised that no one was there but within an hour the place was packed. You get to choose from outside or inside seating. We sat outside overlooking Mirror Lake. They have a decent sized menu with items for kids too. They had vegetarian options as well. I had the quinoa and crispy flour tortilla which had some vegetables mixed within. It was delicous. They have a large drink menu too as well. Service was quick. Each dish is about 15 dollars and up.

Not as good as most reviews in here. Service wasn’t that good. Food was also average, though we went when there was a fixed menu.

Affiliated with the Crowne Plaza Hotel I was presented with a 10% off coupon for the Boat House Restaurant at my check in with free shuttle service to the restaurant. Wasn’t expecting much out of a «coupon-centric-affiliated» restaurant but I was pleasantly surprised. I walked to the restaurant which is what one should do in beautiful Lake Placid(10 minute walk at best). Beautiful restaurant with an upscale feeling and décor. Great ambiance. Reservations recommended but we didn’t need one since it wasn’t too busy. Great outdoor seating overlooking mirror lake with an amazing view. Micheal was our server and he was great from start to finish. Helpful with recommendations and tending to our request of moving inside when it became chilly outside without any problems at all. Frequented our table with refills and to check on us but not annoyingly so. Started off with bread and butter which was decent but I’ve had better. The bread was warm which was a plus. The french onion soup was done perfectly and was flavorful and salty just like I like it. I went for the pepper steak which was a 10 oz serving of NY strip steak in black peppercorn sauce served with french fries. It was juicy and full of flavor and really fulfilled my craving for steak for the night. My mom got the fish tacos which she absolutely loved. Two tacos with fried cod and a delicious mango chutney along with other fresh ingredients made the tacos stand out. Good serving size too. All in all it wasn’t the best steak or french onion soup I’ve had but I certainly wasn’t expecting dining of this caliber at a tourist resort in the mountains. The ambiance, feel of Lake Placid, excellent service and culinary delights of this restaurant created a five star experience. Was too stuffed to walk back to the hotel so we took the free shuttle back. I won’t think twice before coming back here on my next visit to Lake Placid.

Absolutely delicious! The Boat House staff are friendly, professional and attentive, the views are amazing and the food delicious! I had the French onion which was the best French onion I’ve ever had. He had the NEw England clam chowder which was also delish. We both had the guide boat which consisted of a petite filet and crab cake. It was the perfect combination and the fresh green beans and mashed potatoes made it even more delectable. We were promptly greeted by Kimberly who appeared to be the manager. Andrew also came around to our table to ensure everything met our expectations. Jake was our server and he was great! All around excellent dining! Will return!

Great Burger and wonderful steak . Burger has that sweet bacon and not too juicy with oil instead with real quality flavor. The steak has that tenderness and really well control for medium rare. The service is wonderful on the other table and really so so on mine. The other waiter made jokes and I almost wanted to ask for him instead of mine. Mostly it’s a wonderful experience. The boat house is right next to the lake with a beautiful view. It’s definitely a must try if you are visiting the town.

A nice restaurant paired with the Crown Plaza hotel. They had a bus that drove us the 5 min ride back and forth. Let me start with the amazing server we had. He knew everything from the wine to the dishes and did everything with humor and professionalism. He made the night. As to the food, overall the party of 12 that I was with enjoyed the dinner and their food. I had not so great an experience. I got the last french onion soup and was sorry I did. It was gross. The soup was like a thick brown gravy without much cheese on top and hardly any onions to be found. My dinner was a scallop dish that I had was very excited for as I was told we had a French chef. However it came out like Shepard’s pie even in a deep round dish with a handle. Tons of cream and whipped potatoes covering a few lumps of hidden scallops. If you order better than I did — you could have a great night here. The views were beautiful. All staff was great. Food was okay.

Beautiful view and friendly service, but the food is just average. Steak was chewy, bread was bland, pasta was plentiful but the chicken on top was dry.
