They do not accept reservations so we had to wait for about 30 min, however, they do have a bar at which you can sit and order a few drinks. Once seated, everything went smoothly. The food was fantastic. The service was great too. Clam chowder was the best I’ve ever had because it was extremely thick. Steak was fairly priced and medium rare came out perfect for me. Service was good. Server explained everything to us. Was polite and never rushed us.

Food is good. I ordered the grilled fish and it was light and delicious. Service was good and friendly. The nearest part is when you order the root beer, you get a free souvenir glass… or so I thought. I’m still a by confused how it works. First night I went there they charged me $ 6.75 for my root beer and then after I left I remembered that we typically get the glass. We went back and they gave us one. The waitress never told me. The second night I was charged $ 4.75. I somehow remember this being cheaper and from yesterday’s experience so I asked the waiter and he said I could buy it for $ 3.50. Ok I’m not sure how he math works but $ 6.75 — $ 4.75 is $ 2.00. So how does the $ 3.50 factor in? Otherwise food is decent. My friends ordered the shrimp scampi and another heavier sauce shrimp dish 4-stars but downgraded to 3 because of the glass thing

Beers were good. The wait to be seated was long. You can wait in the bar but it’s tight and hard to get service over all the people seated. My steak was over cooked but did not want to send it back because it took so long to get our food. Anyways food was ok, not spectacular. Desserts were good but they had run out of multiple items which was disappointing. Not from the area but assuming for the price you could do better, certainly was not cheap.

My fish was amazing… I have no complaints other than little things… table too small but everything else made up for that. Great drinks

This restaurant was wonderful. Great wine selection and the food was great. The server was knowledgable and friendly. Highly recommended for out of towners. Great service and food.

Beer was tasty, Looking forward to trying to find some at home, my favorite was the cream ale. My girlfriend and I split a order of garlic oil fries, as well as the fried chicken sandwich, and the steakhouse burger. Contrary to what some of the other reviews said everything had a ton of flavor and was cooked perfect. Staff was cool and after telling our waitress how much we like the garlic oil fries she gave us a coupon to an oil shop right in town where the restaurant sources their oil.

Came to lake placid for the weekend and ate here for dinner without reservations on a Saturday night. They sat us within five minutes and the bar was filled with people. Great warm ambience with good food. I had the filet mignon which was soft and delicious with a side of pan seared scallops(nice size). My boyfriend had the 15oz prime rib which he raved about and said it was a perfect cut. We will come back next time we are in town!

This is the second time we ate here. I had the Cajun seafood Alfredo. It was excellent. Tons of lobster. Wasn’t a big fan of the chowder, too fishy. Nice outdoor seating in the summertime. Nice cheese platter.

My family has been going to this restaurant for about 15 years. The food and service are consistently good and we’ve always been satisfied with our meals. On our last visit, I ordered a glass of root beer, listed on the menu without a price. When the check arrived, I was charged $ 6.75(plus tax & tip) for the root beer. The waitress explained that the root beer included a «free» glass with the restaurant’s logo. It’s likely that I’ll continue to go here, but not without asking the prices first. I suggest you do the same.

Green beans were good … Scallops were NOT fresh and had a ammonia after taste, garlic mashed potatoes were a gummy pile of meh and not so good! Servers and Staff were very friendly $ 36 for the entrée I didn’t finish should have sent it back but didn’t. I would stick with the beef if I were ever to go back, which in all likelihood not happen. Good luck!

Haven’t been here in 5 years. This used to be my favorite post hiking lake placid restaurant. Took the whole family this weekend on a Saturday night. Clam chowder was pasty and nasty. Almost inedible. French onion soup was a salty broth with a slab of undercook and sort of nasty soup. Used to be the place for steaks. Wife had a steak which had a strange and bad flavor. My prime rib. Awful. Waitress was amazing and the hostess was great. Was fairly empty this Saturday at 7. I know why.

I can’t speak on the food since I didn’t have any, but the drinks and atmosphere(most importantly the warm fireplace on a cold day) are spot on. I definitely recommend coming in for a drink or flight at the bar. Especially if you’re getting the warm apple cider. It is perfect to sip by the fire. And while I didn’t have any food, it certainly smells terrific!

We used to eat here every year that we visited Lake Placid. However in the past year I have become a Vegetarian and emailed them to see if they could make me a special dish since nothing on thier menu contained no meat. No Response from them. I guess our 15 years of visiting them doesn’t mean as much to them as it did to us.

I think this place is overrated. We just had a couple beers and because we weren’t eating there, we didn’t get any service. Much better places to choose from!

Over priced tourist trap… 16 $ for a Burger extra 2 $ for fries and 2 $ extra for onions = 20 $ btw they never said anything about any extra when we ordered Food was good and beers great and tasteful Good service

We avoided this place on our first 6 or so trips to Lake Placid, having read some of the unfavorable reviews on Unilocal and finding other places we wanted to try first. That being said, when we visited this past April(the extreme off-season for Lake Placid, apparently, as hardly anything was open!), we decided to give it a shot. We arrived for dinner around 6PM on a weekday evening and found the very large dining room to be nearly empty, only ourselves and three other groups. We were seated at a table near the window, which was decorated eclectically with various antiques and memorabilia. Our server was incredible throughout and provided us with unparalleled service. The food was on the pricier side, but we felt that the quality was good and the portions were huge! We both enjoyed the prime rib with our choice of sides(various vegetable and starch choices — I’d go for the mashed potatoes personally — some of the best I’ve tried!). They have a large outdoor dining space open during the summer season which is often packed with beer drinkers and families alike.

Though my steak was pretty good, this place is just an over priced tourist trap. I ordered a cocktail that was like $ 14(price wasn’t on the menu) and was surprised when the waiter brought over a selection of pint glasses and said I got to choose one because«all cocktails come with a souvenir glass» Cool I guess, but I feel like they are ripping you off and not giving you a choice to buy the glass if interested. The drink is the same price either way. Not impressed.

Lovely atmosphere but I wasn’t impressed with my meal for the outrageous price. I ordered the salmon and the piece they served me was really tiny! I mentioned this to the waiter and he gave some lame excuse. A $ 28 piece of salmon should be significant. Not pressed. Way over priced

Came here hungry after a full day’s worth of hiking. The best way to describe the décor is if you’ve ever watched American Pickers, this is one of the places they would pick: looking in from the outside it looks more like an antique store than a restaurant. Definitely deserves bonus points for friendly staff from the hostess to the waiter who were very helpful and gave great recommendations for dishes. They own a micro brewery that makes some great beers on tap, a bit steep at $ 9 per pint but you do get to take a free logo glass to take home as a souvenir. The IPA was my favorite of the ones we’ve tried. The warm bread basket was amazing because it was served with a delicious olive oil and balsamic vinegar with a touch of citrus flavor. We got the scallops with bok choy for appetizer which was excellent but a bit steep(3 large diver scallops with vegetables for $ 14), the flavor was a nice spicy Asian. For entrees the rainbow trout was excellent with some rice, the shrimp scampi with linguini was good, but we were a bit disappointed with the crap cakes which were a bit over-fried and the tartar sauce had a slightly too strong hint of mustard. Bottom line, food was mostly good especially after a long activity-filled day, the service was great, and the microbrews were excellent if slightly overpriced. This is probably one of the better dining options on Main Street if you are looking or a full, sit-down meal.
