I can’t really speak to the actual ice cream at Scoops since I was abstaining from eggs when I went there, so this review is solely for the frozen yogurt. They only had 2 flavors of frozen yogurt available — vanilla and sea salt caramel. Both sounded appealing to me so I asked for a swirl of both expecting an even mix in my cone. Instead, I got the caramel all the way at the bottom of the cone and vanilla on top. I guess this may have been because of the way the soft serve machines were set up independently so this is more of an FYI for Unilocalers rather than a factor in my rating. What IS the biggest contributing factor to my rating however, is the taste! Both tasted somewhat watery, like frozen milk chips rather than having a nice thick frozen yogurt consistency. The flavor wasn’t great either. In addition, I was annoyed that I didn’t know in advance that getting a cone would limit my choice of toppings — the person behind the counter was hesitant to give me crushed Butterfinger because apparently it wouldn’t «stick». Also, I couldn’t get the bigger waffle cone because they only give it to you if you get a medium or large scoop. Bah, humbug!

Scoops has ice cream. For me, that’s almost automatically worth three stars. Luckily, their ice cream is pretty good, thus the extra star. There’s not a ton to say about the place. The ice cream is good, and there are a fair amount of topping available. They have some interesting flavors. Banana cream pie was wonderful, and the wife raved about the strawberry. Didn’t try the soft serve. Did have an ice cream float on my second visit, and it was good as well. It’s located on the northern end of the main strip through town, just a bit beyond the park, so the crowds are a bit thinner up there. There are a few out door tables available as well as counter stool seating inside. Prices are higher than your local hometown shop, but right on par for Lake George. The girls working there always seem friendly and don’t have their faces glued to cell phones, so that tops the service in a lot of places in the village. In summary: ice cream, good. Scoops has ice cream. Scoops, good.

Somehow, these folks manage to make order out of chaos. Four people behind the counter taking orders for several multiple-person parties, and they got everything right and charged everyone correctly. We went twice and ordered a lot of different things. My only complaint was they they skimp on the root beer in the root beer floats, probably for timing reasons. The next time I go, and there will be a next time, I’ll ask them to take it slow and do it right.

Wanting a post-kayaking treat, my husband and I walked the whole length of downtown Lake George Village looking for the right ice cream parlor that stood out to us, only to end up at the first one we passed, Scoops. There are a dozen or more flavors listed on the wall… make sure you read those and don’t just rely on what is in the display case, because some are behind the counter not on display. I had a scoop of Coffee Chip(coffee ice cream with chocolate chips) and a scoop of Cookie Dough in a Chocolate Dirt waffle cone. You can tell the ice cream is very fresh. It was some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had. it was a beautiful day, so we sat outside on the bench and enjoyed our ice cream. Must return to try more flavors!

Terrible. Choose off their specials menu, some kind of coffee creation… looked like pure slop, attempted to eat the ice cream, it was freezer burned to the point of being inedible. Waste of time and money, will never return.

After I already had my Ben & Jerry’s and returned to the hotel my boyfriend returned from the bar and he wanted ice cream so we took a walk to the closest ice cream shop which happened to be Scoops. This place caught my eye earlier in the day with the touristy sign that screamed«ice cream parlor» and the cute outdoor seating. I was excited to come see what it was all about so I happily tagged along on his ice cream adventure. It was about 10pm, probably even later than that, I am not sure — but there were still people eating ice cream inside and quite a line inside. Busier than the other two ice cream places I had been to earlier in the day. Décor was cute in a bubble gum pop kind of way. A few flavors of hard ice cream caught my eye including Cotton Candy(an old favorite from college) and Panda Paws(involves chocolate and peanut butter). I shared my boyfriend’s choice of Pistachio with him. It was bright green, creamy, and chock full of pistachio nuts. He thought they went overboard on the pistachio, and I sort of agree. Still very good though. Staff were teenage girls in matching shirts who were very nice. Overall, a fun place for a sweet cone!
