US Smog Test Only

Nice that they were open on Sunday, especially with it being a holiday weekend. Easy in and out, prompt, no nonsense service. Great overall experience.

Martin at US Smog was beyond helpful today! I called ahead and asked what the wait time was (only one car ahead of me), he asked what kind of car I drive and met me outside when I arrived! He told me the check would take about 15 – 20 minutes but I was in and out, paid and done in no more then 10 – 15 minutes! Martin was very kind and I am so thankful at how EASY and QUICK getting this smog check was. I will absolutely go back to this location again!

Fastest smog check ever! Came in super early on Sunday and was in and out. Fill out some paperwork sign and they do the rest. The whole process took about 10 minutes haha! Will come back when need smog check!!!

The lovely state of CA and their strict pollution laws told me I my trusty Honda Civic was due. Of course I asked my mechanic (aka father) and he recommended this shop. Always wanting to get the most for my moolah, I looked online for deals and found a nice coupon online coupon so I called to verify it’s validity and the nice (Martine?) not only confirmed the coupon but also took down my name, car info and what would essentially be all that is necessary with an appointment — he assured me at 2pm on a Tuesday there would be no line and he was right.
Just out of curiosity, I called a place a bit closer to my office and they were DOUBLE the price so that confirmed my dad’s always right… Why do I still question that after all these years?
Anywho, I got there just after 2pm and the guys welcomed me by name since I had called ahead — so nice! I handed over the DMV paperwork and filled out some info for their records as a mechanic pulled my car around to the back. I loved being able to see my car being worked on and inspected from the waiting room — the guys didn’t even mind that it was a mess! ;)
If your car is pretty stock — you should have no problems getting a smog here — BUT, if not, beware: my husband’s 350Z has an aftermarket part (exhaust maybe?) that makes it annoying to get it to pass smog for some reason so he has had to go elsewhere since they wouldn’t pass him here.

I only came here because this spot was cheap.
I won’t be making the same mistake again.
First off, everyone who worked here spoke very broken English. This wouldn’t be such an issue if my truck had passed with flying colors. But it did not. Instead, thanks to CA’s constant change in emissions regulations, there is a VERY stupid new rule on the books that states any after-​market catalytic converter on your vehicle must have a serial number that matches one listed in the system. What this meant for me is that even though all three catalytic converters on my truck were perfectly good, one was an after-​market part with a non-​matching serial number. Translation: I had to buy a brand-​new part just so the numbers matched.
Dumb, right?
Getting this info out of the guy at the counter was easy enough; understanding it was the hard part. Even worse, he charged me for the test despite knowing I wasn’t going to pass, then offered to retest me for, like, $ 5 less than the first go-​round. I spoke to guys at other smog stations and they all said they’d have helped me out a lot more than this guy did. Next time I’ll pay the higher fee and go somewhere they want to build customer relationships.

At 5:30 pm called to ask if they could accommodate a smog test and the guy said they were closed and mumbled something about tomorrow 7 am as he hung up the phone.
So rude! I am going to take my car to Promax.

Couldn’t have been quicker or easier. No phone call, no appointment. In and out in 10 minutes, and that was during the lunch hour! Mention the coupon price. $ 41 total.

They had me in and out in under 20 minutes on a busy Saturday morning! Now that is great service. Waiting area was clean, nice TV, and cold drinks. I will definitely be returning.

Use this place for all my 3 cars. No upsell, no long lines. In the time it takes to walk to the nearby Starbucks and come back, they’re usually done, unless someone is ahead of you.

I chose this shop because of the online coupon of $ 29.75 + $ 8.25 cert fee, totaling $ 38. Yesterday around 3:30p, I walked in, nobody was at the desk and nobody working on the cars in the bay. Waited a few minutes and nobody came. Looked a few shops over and saw Promax. I called, and they matched the coupon price and took my car in right away.

First time doing a smog check certification. Googled smog check in Lake Forest and US Smog Check showed high reviews and good price offer online. Walked in and immediately greeted by Martin and asked if I am looking for smog check. He wrote up an invoice for my SUV for exact amount of online price with no upselling or haggling. 30 minutes and $ 51 later, I was all done. Thanks to Tech John and Martin.

Great place to get your smog test! Extremely friendly staff and absolutely the quickest smog check I ever had. I highly recommend this place.

Been here 3 times for a smog check. They are nice enough and my car is done in under 20 minutes. Just wish they had a little sitting area outside.

The price looks great when you see the online coupon, but you get what you pay for. My friend took her car there, and they claimed they couldn’t to the smog test there and took it to the shop next door, which she didn’t authorize. When she went to get her car, the car was at the shop next door, and they were demanding payment. When she refused and took her car, they freakin showed up at her house banging on her door like thugs.
You can take your car here, probably get smogged for a good price, but don’t leave your car behind.

Just in and out with no upselling or scam recommendations, perfect SMOG experience.
I don’t know what’s going on, but everywhere I go lately, things are getting better. Perhaps it’s me being a smart consumer and researching the location first or companies actually trying to treat the customer right. Matter of fact, I had my daughter take the minivan here today because of Unilocal reviews, price and convenience.
The guys here were very professional and had her out in a short amount of time with positive results. Was it free, no, but the price was competitive and I was relatively confident there would be no issues.
The technician told her that I would be able to complete the transaction online, which I just did. So everything worked perfectly and I saved a stamp. ;)
Not much more to say, besides great service and honest results.

Stopped by on a Friday afternoon and I was in and out in 15 minutes. No complaints here!

So NOT take your business to US Smog Test Only or Master Auto next door. They work together to con people and rip us off!
Unless…you don’t mind if they take your car to another shop without your consent. And unless… you don’t mind if shop employees show up at your house to demand payments for services that you didn’t authorize.
I took my car to US Smog Test Only and expected to get a quick smog test. I gave the guy my phone number and let him know that I would be next door having lunch. When I returned to get my car I was informed that he was unable to perform the smog test and walked me to another shop where the smog test was performed. I asked him why he didn’t ask my permission before subletting my car. He claimed he «tried» to call. BS! I would have received the call, or if it was a missed call I would have received an email notification.
The shop that my car was taken to was Master Auto Center, almost next door. This is not a test only station and I chose a test only station because I didn’t want to take the risk of being up-​sold. Immediately the new shop employee suggested a tune-​up. Again I asked why my car was at his shop and asked him who authorized him to work on my car. He simply stated that it doesn’t matter because he can do smog. He plopped the service agreement on the counter and asked me to sign it. I didn’t sign it and I left.
I don’t understand why these 2 shops think its okay to bait and switch customers. My thinking was that they thought I would have just rolled over and paid for whatever they suggested. I wouldn’t be surprised if I found out that they are working together to rip people off. This is a highly suspicious situation.
Then a few days later I had a not on my door from Master Auto threatening to call the cops. I informed Karim, the employee at Master Auto, that what they did was illegal and told him to call the cops if he’d like to. How dare Karim think that it’s okay to show up at someone’s house demanding payment for services that were not authorized?
I’m reporting both companies to the bureau of automotive repair. According to the BAR, it is illegal for smog test stations to sublet services. It is also illegal for auto repair shops to sublet services without owner’s written consent.
DO NOT USE EITHER COMPANY! Something smells fishy.
