Hmm… I normally like these kinds of Mexican food places, and I really like other Chronic taco locations. This one is a step up from a cheap Taqueria, but a very small step. It was very dirty. The floor needed swept and mopped badly, the counters were covered with bits of food and there were flies inside. Yet the staff seemed unconcerned and were distracted by a TV with some surfing show playing on it. There is no service to speak of, you stand at the counter and try to get the attention of the bored, pimply faced teenager with lots of unimaginative tattoos and ear plugs. When you finally manage to wave him over, he doesn’t actually help you, he goes and gets a sweaty Mexican guy who was washing dishes in the back room to make your food. Strangly, the Mexican guy doesn’t speak English or Spanish, so you end up explaining to him with a series of elaborate gestures and pantomimes what it is you want to eat. He nods a lot and smiles occasionally, then makes you two carnitas burritos, some beef tacos and a horchata. The pimply kid rings you up and you have to fill your own soda from what appears to be a breeding ground for houseflies. They get a full one-star upgrade for carrying Gringo Bandito as their house hot sauce.

This place sucks! Tacos Al Pastor is my favorite food and they butchered it to hell. They put pineapple in the damn taco. Seriously, why would you do that? If they had cereal on their menu they’d probably serve it with water instead of milk. They like messing up what is suppose to be Mexican food. In all honesty, I would rather eat at Del Taco than come back here again.

This one is falling apart. Last 4 times I have gone the food was cold, the other ones are still really good but this one needs help

In a word: horrible. Horrible service, horrible food and everything else you can think of. This is the first review I’ve ever written, that is how horrible this place is! Stay clear and go to Wahoos or Chipotle across the street! I don’t know how this place stays in business!

While eating my veggie tostada, I began to wonder… what is so chronic about these tacos? Are they meant to fill you for a very long time? Is ist a not so subtle allusion to the drugs you need to enjoy sloppy food like this? Is it a reference to the diarrhea that may follow eating the pounds of grease slathered on these foods? Only time shall tell. But, to review: basically, chronic tacos is to chipotle what subway is to quiznos. Maybe a little bit cheaper monetarily, but a lot cheaper in atmosphere and flavor. I had so soak my tostada in hot sauce because it was so bland. And the restaurant felt more like a dive bar in the bad ways: it was dirty and dark, not hip and sleek. Thought, the staff did act like unhappy hipsters, so there’s that. There’s no excuse to eat here when Albatros is so close-by.

I love the concept, but this needs to be executed better. There are so many options for your burrito and it’s all free, which is a plus. However, the meat isn’t served super hot. So by the time you get your order together, and that meat is bombarded with cold condiments like lettuce, sour cream, guac, cheese, and salsa, the meat is cold. I’ve never taken this to go, but I can imagine it would need to be nuked. It seems like maybe they can learn from Chipotle and use foil. There are plenty of places that add that stuff in and the burrito is still hot. It’s the same story here. Cold food.

I probably should have stayed away, but since hearing that it was good I had to try it at least once. We went through the drive-thru and I ordered a carne asada taco and a pollo asada taco with a side of rice. My husband ordered the torta. The girl that took our order wasn’t friendly at all and seemed annoyed that we were there. God forbid we give them our business! After waiting what seemed like forever(and it was 2 p.m. so they weren’t even busy), It was all kind of «meh». My tacos were nothing to write home about. I needed some Tapatio but none was offered to us so I had to make do with their salsa. My husband’s torta looked tiny and he said it lacked meat. My rice was very dry and not very flavorful. Overall, a very disappointing experience. I can remember when this place used to be a real Mexican drive-thru restaurant and they made really good breakfast burritos. After trying these Chronic Tacos I thought to myself how it’s usually never good when people try to Americanize ethnic food too much.

They opened up near my house, so we decided to try it. The tacos actually tasted bad. Imagine if you were to leave a taco in your refrigerator(not freezer, but refrigerator) for more than a week then microwave it. That’s what the tacos tasted like. They did not simply have no flavor; they actually tasted bad. My other two frends agreed and we threw the food out and left. We went to Del Taco and it tasted gourmet by comparison. You don’t have to just take my word for it, read all the other reviews for this place. The food is horrible. I don’t expect this restaurant to stay in business very much longer.

Yesterday when I got out of the gym there was a nice flier stuck to my car. I usually just toss them without a second look… but this one caught my eye because it was coupons for a Mexican food place called Chronic Tacos. I’ve heard of Chronic Tacos, but have never been… so shoot, I’ll go someday before the coupons expire the end of the month. Decided to go try this place out today. I needed a pick me up after my interview this morning, and after a morning of realization that I’m basically screwed if I don’t get a job asap. Mexican food usually picks me up… seriously…but not this place! One of the coupons was«buy a burrito and get free chips and salsa» and another coupon was for a «free regular drink with purchase». The guy behind the counter took pity on me I think… he let me use both of the coupons even after he told me that they normally just honor 1 coupon per visit. That was the only GOOD thing about the place. Ordered a carne asada burrito. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck. Ate about half of it and tossed it. It just wasn’t made right, and I wasn’t up for another tummy ache. The chips and salsa were ok, but nothing that I would brag about… and I could have just bought those at the store. Whatever. Good experince, and glad I didn’t pay for most of the meal.

I had kept hearing how amazing these tacos are so I finally broke down and stopped by to taste for myself. Seriously, the worst(ok, second to Fred’s) Mexican food I have ever tasted. We ordered carne asada and chicken tacos, carne asada burrito, chips and salsa and a tamale. Everything was YUCK! I don’t even have the words to explain it but everything was cold, bland and just tasted like it was made hours ago and just microwaved for like 10 seconds. Their white rice was even gross… how can you go wrong with rice??? Yeah, you get a lot of food, but we literally took a few bites and tossed most of our food out(think 75% of the dishes). Then we took our hungry selves across the way to Chipotle! Still not authentic, but at least its hot and tastes good.

I can honestly say — This place is AWFUL! The service was not very good. We walked in for lunch and the employess acted like we inconvenienced them. Half of them looked liike the rolled out of bed and came to work. The other half, were probably engulfed in a haze of bong smoke before they got there. The tacos were over priced and under cooked. They lacked flavor and imagination. This was really a waste of a lunch break. Please dop yourself a favor and skip it. Moronic tacos Probably, Kronic — definitely not.

Went here for a quick dinner last night. The people who worked here looked like they hated life and acted that way as well. The place is dirty and the food doesn’t look too quality either. We got 2 burritos and it totaled to over 15 bucks. ouch. The only reason I give it 2 stars is because the burritos actually tasted pretty good. Crappy mexican food is sometimes the best kind!

I have been to this location quite a few times, and it has been pretty consistent. I always get the Burrito Lunch Special seems like the biggest bang for your buck. Chicken Burrito, Chips and Salsa and Drink for $ 6.99, not bad. Their burritos are huge, and I typically never finish them. Their rice is only okay, but they give you an option of white or Spanish. I have been to other Chronic Tacos around the area, and I just like their staff better. They always seem to be in a good mood and like their job. I have been asked how the food was and if there was anything they could get us about mid-meal, which was nice. I have never had any complaints though. The parking lot can be a mess, people hit your car and leave and they have mom’s walking around with their kids asking for money. My suggestion is park away from other cars.

These were by far the most nastiest tacos I’ve ever had! The portions are huge but the taste is very bland & of course too much lettuce. Why do chain restaurants always use too much lettuce? Salsa was nothing more than Pace Picante(which I hate). Give me Miguels Jr in Corona any day!!! And it’s located in what I like to call the«HB» of South Orange County. Nothin but a bunch of «wannabe hardcore» wearin the chain wallets, Dickie shorts, tat’s & walkin the occasional pitbull!

My 2 star rating has nothing to do with the food or prices. We’re capitalists, paying for someone else to make our food. Shit we’re also lazy americans, Im sure if someone offered you the service of feeding it to you we’d pay the premium. I actually think the foods good. Im giving this 2 stars because one of the owners was working there and called me boss. boss? seriously dude. what the fuck. My name isnt Master and your name isnt Toby, Im not the prison guard and your not the inmate. So lets have some fucking respect. I am afterall paying for you to make my food. Heres a bit of advice. Things to not call people: Boss, Chief, Sport, Champ, Turbo. While you might think it makes you young and feel cool. It in-fact just lets uf know you’re a giant bag of douche.

This place is expensive for the quality of the food. I think you’ll love this food only if you’re high on weed, like its owners. LOL I ate at the Chronic taco my cousin runs in LaHabra and loved it, because my cousin picked up the tab. I ate at a local place and paid $ 11.00+ for three tacos, rice and beans. Del Taco, here I come. This was twice as much as you should pay for food. Of course the corn tortillas are thick and warm, they prepare the tacos like Subway does asking you what you want, and the Gringo sauce at the table is unusual, but $ 11.00 for a lunch? No way.

Tried this place out for a quick drive-thru dinner and DAMN was it expensive. The reason for my low rating is primarily based on the prices. Pros: The al pastor tacos were well seasoned and tasty. Taquitos were freshly made and packed with meat. Cons: This place is a RIP-OFF! I don’t know how they justify the prices. They charge you extra for EVERYTHING, even extra guac for your taquitos because they give you enough for 1 of the 3. I’m a self-proclaimed«Mexican Food Snob» and for the money that I paid for this dinner, I should have just driven 10 minutes further to a truck in Santa Ana and had the real stuff at a fraction of the price. This place is okay if you don’t take your Mexican food or your money seriously.

I had this sneaky suspicion that I was the only person in Orange County who hadn’t had a chronic taco. I keep seeing and hearing about them everywhere, but had never stepped foot inside. I finally got my chance a couple of weeks ago when I needed a mid-day snack. I wanted something just filling enough to keep me satisfied but not ruin my dinner. We split two orders(4 tacos) with carne asada and fish. I loved their toppings, sauces and salsa. The meat and fish were fresh and just the right amount of spice. I think the carne asada was pretty salty though. Overall, it hit the spot, even if it was a little overpriced for just tacos.

This place really made me think twice about coming back, I was impressed. The only time I have been to a Chronic Taco was on 4th of July and all they served was beef or chicken tacos. That was it. And I wanted a Shrimp taco! Well I finally had my shrimp taco from Chronic. It was grilled, not beer battered. It was so delicious, slightly spicy… good kick in the sauce. I also had a cheese quesadilla and guac. YUM-O! Now that I am writing about tacos, and since it is Taco Tuesday again… I’ll be back to visit them.
