Living 1.3 miles away and they don’t deliver they say. Except I’ve had delivery by them before. Place sucks.

Straight up Jimmy Johns! I’m not hating — it is what it is. I splurged and bought the«GARGANTUAN» with hot peppers. It’s a lot of meat– Salami, Ham, Turkey, Roast beef with shredded lettuce, onions, tomatoes, mayo, cheese, vinegar, and oil. Big and overall ok sandwich with bread that is more chewy than firm. After eating it, I was full yet empty… completely uninspired by my meal! At $ 8.50 including tax for just the sandwhich, I found myself thinking of all the better fast options I have in this price range — Burritos? Asian? Greek, Mediterranean? Burgers? Breakfast? Too bad many of them are not in close range That’s the problem with Jimmy Johns and the moment I remembered why I don’t go there. If I want a really awesome sandwhich, I spend a couple bucks more and can go to a nice deli. Even the grocery store across the street has much better sandwichs. Fast food subs generally suck but at least I could have had the common sense to hit up a Portillos, Pot Bellys, Jersey Mikes, Fire House Subs, or something else but NO– I went to fvking Jimmy Johns… and that’s what I got… and the only positive thing I could find myself saying is that it was better than Subway… barely

The place smelled funny. It was very pungent. I’m not sure what to make of it. I think I will continue to go to the one in the Fountain Square Plaza in Waukegan.

Regarding the food, if you want an extremely fast, cheap, bland tasting, mayo-covered sub, come here. Taste-wise, I would choose Subway or Potbelly any day. The service when I came was absolutely terrible(despite being empty). Staff was snarky and reluctant to slice up the pickle I had purchased. come on! The main eating area had no utensils, napkins, hot-sauce, ketchup, etc… not even water cups… literally nothing. I understand you positioning yourself as a cheap sub-shop, but trusting your customers with a napkin-dispenser would be nice. To be honest, I wouldn’t come back here if it was free.

This Jimmy John’s location recently opened on Rockland Road in the fall, and since it’s adjacent to both the shop where I get my oil changed, and the salon where I get my tresses dealt with, it’s a decent go-to option to grab a bite to eat when I’m running errands. There are other sandwich shops I prefer, but at most of them, I’m going to pay more and wait longer, so a quick, relatively inexpensive meal wins out sometimes. Plus, I love the avocado spread they put on their veggie sandwiches most of all. Jimmy John’s is pretty standard, and this review isn’t about the food, per se… unless you get a bum batch of lettuce or a pallid, blah wintry orange tomato, there isn’t any reason the quality of sandwich should be any higher or lower at any one restaurant than at another, like all chain sub shops. This review is more for the service. I stopped in for the first time when the place had only been open for a few days, and sometimes, you get glitches while they’re still figuring things out… no problems, here, though. They only make so many variations on a handful of sandwiches. My most recent visit was pretty impressive, though. JJ’s «subs so fast you’ll freak» schtick played out in real time… I ordered, paid, had my sandwich in hand, and was out the door in seriously under a minute. And it wasn’t slapped together with filling flying everywhere, either. That was pretty impressive. Props for living up to the slogan. I’ve waited in the drive thru longer at McDonald’s. I usually find chain restaurant reviews that focus on the food to be pretty pointless, but I will always give a shout-out to solid service.
