I felt so bad about writing this until myself and my kids experienced stomach aches and sweats. The worst L&L. Stay away!!! If you want indigestion afterwards and frustration upon receiving your food. This is your place. Cleanliness: Maybe it’s better than most, but bugs on the floor is not my thing for an indoor eating establishment. No bathrooms. Taste: Undercooked BBQ chicken. They clearly have a bold yellow sign on their side fountain«Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafoods, shellfish, or eggs may increase your risk of food borne illness.» The rice was edible. Skimpy on the Mac Salad. Chicken Katsu was a bust, undercooked. The teriyaki steak was cooked. Yay! Half a star! I took my kids with me to eat here and they all complained of stomach pains afterwards. So far, I watched a lot of locals ordering the cheeseburgers and hamburgers. Maybe that is what they are good at. Atmosphere: Here’s the OTHER half a star. One star for the environment. It’s busy and the tables are semi clean. Better than most places. I’m from California and the L&L food is way better in Cali than here. Why is that? The staff mixes up your orders and doesn’t apologize. She doesn’t care if her food is undercooked. Maybe the lady is stressed or the young man is new, but definitely do not eat here. Sorry. I can’t recommend this place. Drive a little further and head to Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck. They have edible food without indigestion.

My daughter is a local and we stopped in for a plate lunch on our way to Hale’iwa. From the outside i was a bit skeptical, But we were all hungry and it was inexpensive. I opted for the ramen. And my husband and daughter got the mixed bbq plate lunch. The lady running the register had broken English but was extremely nice. They seem to have local regulars, which to me is always a good sign. The inside is basic. Nothing fancy. Gum and toy dispensers by the entrance with a huge bottle of hand sanitizer, hand written sign saying no public restrooms with directions to another stores restrooms and flyers taped on walls were a little tacky and cheapend the atmosphere. But it is in a strip mall. Food was surprisingly better than imagined. The ramen I believe was hand made. Broth was very nice and not overly salty. I enjoyed the spam more than I thought I would. The pork on the other hand was tough and I opted to not way that. But overall I was very happy with my soup. The mixed plate lunches came with two scoops of rice, scoop of macaroni salad and a ton of meat. The ribs had good flavor but like other reviews mentioned, They are tough and grisly. The chicken was best. I enjoyed the macaroni salad(and I’m not a huge fan). All in all, this place was better than I expected. Then come to find out it’s a fairly large chain on the islands. Prices are fair and there are locations all over. There are so many places I would rather eat, but in a bind, I know now that L&L is not a bad option when on a budget or in a hurry. Go on and give it a try.

BOYCOTTLAIE L&L! We’ve given L&L plenty of business over the years. Today, my son, Isaac, came in to by lunch for his grandma and himself. He was the only one there the entire time. He went to leave and left his wallet which had $ 300 in it. He called on the phone and the girl at the counter said that she had found it and«was hoping he would call», then she paused and said, «oh, wait, I don’t have it, I will call when I find it». Not wanting to waste time, we went right over through the back parking area. I waited in the car and noticed two L&L workers outside talking shortly after my son had entered the front. Then one of them went down the street and came back just a minute later and was looking back at me. They were both acting suspicious so I went inside. When I questioned the counter girl, she told me 3 different stories about picking up the wallet and putting it on their back shelf so it would be safe”, but no wallet. I called the police to file a report with my son. When they questioned her, she said SHENEVERSAWIT!

Definitely Hawaiin and definitely fast food. Our meals arrived on gleaming Styrofoam and for the most part that is the flavor profile I got. Fatty gristly meat and lackluster gravy on the special. Could not finish it due to the poor quality.

We have a L&L Hawaii in NZ but it just doesn’t stack up to the traditional L&L Hawaii in Hawaii but what do you expect when you replicate food outside of its home origin. Best mac salad great sauce on those ribs & selection of protein. They have on offer brown rice which I wish was an option in NZ. And again those American portions! Sure hits the spot when you’re hungry after a great day at the beach!

I got the munchies and I found myself with a mini curry chicken katsu in one hand from here and spicy ahi poke from Foodland in the other. The poke was delicious but my mini fell a little short and oddly wasn’t as good as back home. Then I had to ask, is it wrong that I’m eating at L & L while I’m actually in Hawaii? I mean it’s understood when I’m at home because well, they’re only one of the few joints that serve quick and tasty Hawaiian eats, but now that I’m here, shouldn’t I strive for more local and authentic eats? Duly noted. Sorry L & L but I’m gonna have to reserve you for only when I’m back on the mainland.

This place was not great. They give you a lot of food for $ 10 – 11, but it’s very greasy and grisly. I ordered the grilled mahi mahi fish, it was soaked in butter and overloaded with garlic. I actually was ill after eating here. Go next door and eat at Seven Brothers instead. Disappointed, waste of money as I threw my meal out.

This L&L is great! They just switched to a new location in the Laie shopping center that is a lot nicer. The food is delicious! I highly recommend the chicken katsu or the chicken katsu curry. Relaxed atmosphere is great for chatting with friends.

My 4 yr old son loves orange chicken A LOT. We ordered out tonight just so he can have his orange chicken. I call it in and pick it up. We get back home and he opens his plate and he just stares at it. He usually devours orange chicken but i noticed he’s not eating it. He takes a bite and makes a face of disgust. I walk over and look at his plate and it looks like his plate was sitting in the trunk of a car for 2 days. I took a bite of one and almost threw up. Even the fried rice looked and smelled awful. I strongly advise you not to order orange chicken or fried rice from here. Im amazed they havent gotten shut down yet for the horrible food they serve.

They have a drive thru. That’s a plus in this small town when you’ve got groceries in the car and need to get the kids a quick bite to eat. Bring your cash since no cards are accepted. The combos are huge but the food is what you’d expect from a fast food joint. If you go, the barbecue mix combo is a good choice.

L&L Drive Thru is a pretty cool concept. Especially if you’re in a hurry and have that plate lunch craving but too lazy to get out of the car. I ordered the double cheese burger deluxe and wasn’t impressed. The hamburger patty did seem to be home made with their own spices so that’s a plus. However, the spices they put in there left it with a tangy taste. Maybe too much pepper? Wife had the BBQ Mix plate and it definitely didn’t taste like the normal BBQ mix plate we’re accustomed to at other L&L locations. Maybe we caught it on an off day? This location is cash only so come prepared. Not an overall bad experience, just not what I expected from your typical L&L.

Like reviews of other L&L locations, I don’t get the bad reviews of this place. We went here twice on a recent trip and both times it was awesome. We had the fish sandwich, fish plate, etc. and all of the dishes we had were awesome. The food came out quick and the service was good. I only wish they took credit card.

My husband and I visited this lcoation in May 2011 and we thought the food was tasty and filling. We shared the Hawaii BBQ mixed plate. We used to order our own plates, but it’s just too much food, especially for me. We had the Hawaiian Barbecue beef, chicken, & short ribs with two scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. The meat was tender and had good flavors. The macaroni salad was creamy and delicious. It’s a splurge food item for me — I don’t even want to know how many calories I ate! Yes, I’d go back again!

Having cruised up and down the coast for the day, we were getting hungry and since it was around 7pm, slim pickin’ on where we could stop to eat that was still open. I opted for a spam masubi and didn’t know it was humanly possible to mess up such an easy dish. Although my rice was piping hot, the spam tasted almost raw and what’s worse, wasn’t there suppose to be some type of sauce between the rice and my spam? Three ingredient dish and it was a complete mess. Disappointed. One star for my janky spam masubi. I’ll give another star ‘cuz that Canadian said his BBQ beef was pretty good, so good he forgot to let me try it. lol

I ordered the fried seafood platter. Everything tasted like it had been fried at least twice. Plus, it was very bland.

This was the only restaurant we could find just driving around the north shore. But it wasn’t bad at all. We ordered very basic items: curry beef stew, and the loco moco meal. Both came with 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni. The place was clean, and the food came out within mins and was hot. I did think it was weird that there was a Chinese fast food establishment with the L&L. That was something I didn’t think I’d see. Overall, the place was clean, and the food was decent.

I must have come on a good day. The food was fine, nothing crazy hella good, but it’s L&L. At the time, I didn’t know there was anything really else around there, so I was happy with it.

So I had to go to a North Shore wedding and funeral combo and this is(of course) the only L&L location within walking distance. I’m pretty sure the only thing that the only thing this location shares with the others is the name. Absolutely no menu selection, by far the dirtiest that I’ve been to, dark, dingy décor, the majority of the food seems to be kept under a deli style warmer, and I would not have been shocked to have seen hard boiled eggs on the counter. Either drive all the way to Ted’s Bakery or just eat at Taco Bell.

The L&L menu is extremely limited, probably because Laie Chop Suey/Chopsticks(Chinese food) shares the establishment. Among the menu items missing was laulau and spam musubi. The restaurant was run down, the bathroom was flooded, and the food was way too greasy.
