I wouldn’t travel this far just to visit the marketplace or the restaurants. Most are available elsewhere or provide products and souvenirs that sure make you feel as though you’ve seen them before. However, the layout and architecture are very nice. Together with the free parking and assortment of eating options it is a great stop if passing through or visiting the interior of the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Cute little marketplace out in Laie next to the Polynesian Cultural Center. They have a restaurant, sweet shop, crepes, sandwiches, hot dogs, gift shops and more. It’s like a upscale little international marketplace in Laie. Swing by when you are in the neighborhood! you won’t be disappointed.

Apparently, the Hikilau Marketplace is a brand spankin new shopping area outside the Polynesian Culture Center«park». They offer a great variety of shopping, from crepes to smoothies, to hello kitty items, home items and burgers. There’s even a little bandstand/stage area, where they have people perform. Let’s be honest, PCC is for tourists. Tourists love buying«Hawaiian» items they really don’t need. I get it… I’ve done my fair share of world travel and go gaga for shopping too. It was fun to people watch and to see how much people are willing to pay for things they could get at the swap meet. You can get novelty items like light up «fire» batons that looking like the ones the fire dancers use. They also sell those brown slip on sandals that you can get for like a dollar at longs. Because PCC is owned by Brigham Young University, many, if not all the salespeople are BYU students. The students are an interesting mix of kids from Utah, Asia and the South Pacific. PCC doesn’t really advertise the fact that they are owned by BYU and the church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints… But I guess the tourists are too consumed in the cultural appropriation they are experiencing to notice or care. Just fyi.

I enjoy the little shops especially the eateries. My fav is the Delice Crepes but in comparison to other crêpe places they really should consider their portion size especially for the price. It costs $ 1 extra for whip cream and you only get 2 small dots… not that impressed BUT I’m giving 5 stars because I really love the options as local in the neighborhood I can appreciate the diversity of the market place and all that it offers. So much to see and explore in this market place. I look forward to enjoying nights here w/my family and friends.

At the Baguette Shack and my sister-in-law ordered a caprese sandwich 20 minutes ago and they forgot to make it. We’re still waiting for her sandwich.

So this review is solely for bone and wood carving place but it really pissed me off. I saw a nice piece that I liked and asked how much is was got $ 225. Little pricey so I thought I’d pass. When I walked by again it was someone different and since nothing had prices on it I asked again got 175. Better in my favor but still hight. Had my friend ask a third person later and he got 280. Decided to try my luck with this last girl and got 450!!! What the hell??? I asked the last girl how they came up with prices and told her that was the fourth price of the day on the same piece with a $ 275 swing between the four. She babbled on about the quality and could not give me an answer. BEWARETHISSHOP!!! Bunch of thieves making up prices

So far so good. Got here around 5:30pm. First stop was Délice Crêpes. Gotta have one! The restrooms are located right outside the theater and are very clean. There are several shops in this place, which is located next to the theater where the PCC show Hā– Breath Of Life is performed. There’s a shop of home furnishings, a Whalers General Store type shop a sweet shop, a kiosk of Kahuku Red Raider fan gear, and one for smoothies. As for places to eat, there is Baguette food truck specializing in sandwiches, theres Seven Brothers food truck, but I don’t know what they serve. There’s a hot dog place and Pounders restaurant which is the only«sit down» restaurant here, and I can’t find it on Unilocal!,so I’m going to review it here. The two items our server recommended are the Ham Shank that comes with cheese grits and some kind of Southern style greens, and the Filet Mingon that comes with bacon mashed potatoes and French beans. Sister ordered candied bacon appetizer which I found to be quite tough and chewy. Not what I expected, but they’re still new, so I’d give it a second chance. The ham shank: the portion size was enormous! I couldn’t even finish half! Not sure how it was prepared, but it did come to the table covered in a spicy barbeque sauce. The cheese grits were great. Nice texture, a little firm, but softened as I chewed, and the cheese flavor ran throughout. The filet mingon(sp): portion was on the smaller side, but the French beans and bacon mashed potatoes’ portion was a good size. Sorry gang, no dessert ordered here as we had already had a crêpe earlier. I will definitely be back to try something else! Oh, and one more thing, they do have a kids menu, but you may need to ask for one. Enjoy!
