CLOSED. Looks like we just missed it(we leave 8⁄5) but will reopen around August 15, 2014 under new ownership. Looks like the new restaurant will be Kaanapali Grille & Tap, run by the folks from Cheese Burger in Paradise( ). I also heard they will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is great news as this property has great offerings withe the pool bar, Beach Walk and Starbucks but has been hurting for a quality and consistent(food & service) restaurant for quite some time.

Lots of reviews are upset with pricing… Your on a resort, it’s common to be over priced. That’s like complaining about the $ 5 coke bottle at an amusement park. Anyway, check our the happy hour if your cost aware. $ 4 beers, $ 8 mixed drinks. Also the food is pretty good. Coconut shrimp, pot stickers and others to choose from. We had 3 beers, 3 mixed drinks, and 3 plates for about $ 50 before tip. Also, the view is great no matter where u sit. Don’t go for the name, go for the happy hours from 3−6pm!

Look, the Maui Ocean Club is a timeshare-only resort: they don’t need to lure you in with food, as you’ve already paid. The food itself isn’t bad, but it’s definitely nothing special. And it’s dinner only. And it’s VERY pricey for what you get… BUT All of that doesn’t matter, as Longboards is officially CLOSING and will be replaced by… Actually I can’t find out what it’s being replaced by, but there you go. The staff were given there notice last week and things will be changing in the coming months.

Immediately turned off by the incompetent and bitchy hostesses. We showed up for our reservation an hour early(8 pm resv. For 4, but needed to cancel and change to only 2 people). They informed us the wait was an hour(we were the only ones waiting). Six tables sat open as people were late for their own reservations. Pissed off and didn’t even want to eat the super mediocre prime rib and crab leg buffet they had out. Service was friendly(better than the hostesses), but slow. As members staying in the villas, I would have expected better service from the resort hotel. DO. NOT. RECOMMEND.

Just don’t look at the price. Everything in this area is expensive. Build that into your budget. The mahi mahi was excellent. Service for me sucked. Not sure what was up with this guy. All over the place, except our table. Bring us some water at least.

The service was good but the food was nowhere near good to justify the very high prices. $ 30 for seafood pasta that had frozen shrimp and tacos that had little taste. Waiter was excellent but the food really lets this place down and explains why it was half empty when the other restaurants had an hour wait for a table.

This beautifully located Marriott restaurant, has averaged to high prices for average food. Our party of six ordered a variety of dishes but the prime rib was the most popular. It was a very large cut of beef with lots of fat and the side dishes that accompanied were very nice. Our server let us know he had previously been a chef at the restaurant and was capable of recommending the best dishes. He was an excellent server and food came out quickly. Prices are high but that is to be expected at this beachfront location. I believe the food to be better than the food it Leilani’s. Watch for other posts so you can make the best choice for expensive beachfront dining.

Overpriced, but it’s what you would expect at a nice resort! Food is solid, especially the fish and the flatbreads, but again — at a premium price. Mahi Mahi blackened is great(with a little kick). Flatbread appetizers rotate based on the day and are certainly are worth getting!

Beautiful atmosphere– right on the beach. Service wasn’t great but apparently they were busy the night we went. The food was ok– great for the convenience, but we wouldn’t go out of out way to come here. The prime rib got good reviews from the table. Lettuce wraps were disappointing but editable. If you want something sweet to drink try the Hawaiian martini– it tastes like a piña colada minus the heavy syrup.

We are here because we are staying at the hotel. We ordered drinks and yes they were very refreshing. We then ordered the flat bread of the day. Also amazing… And the coconut shrimp… Amazing!!! I was so excited for our main meal that we decided to share. Bomb drop… It was not good :(the fish tacos… So disappointed… I ordered the pineapple upside down cake to try and help from the fish tacos but another bomb drop… :(so just order drinks and appetizers. We did have great entertainment with some kids playing the violin. Great entertainment. Didn’t like being asked to buy flowers from a lady while eating either. Soliciting is rude when your trying to have a nice relaxing dinner!!!

Went here because we were given a $ 15 off discount offer and figured why not! Since we had heard it was on the pricey side, we timed it to eat during happy hour. Sat at the bar which I didn’t love– would have rather had our toes in the sand(the other option) but the sun was still out and we would have roasted! As far as our order: Got the coconut shrimp. It’s as good as people say. Maybe better. After a disappointing experience a couple days ago with coco shrimp, I was excited to jump back in and try some. The outer coating was fantastic– tasted like real toasted crunchy coconut. Everything you want. At the HH price of $ 8 for six it was a deal! We considered doubling the order but refrained– they were that good. Also grabbed the crab cake sliders. After a very«meh» conversation with the bartender we settled on the sliders versus just the cakes(after all, the sliders came with fries!). They were good. Looked dry– tastes fine. We asked for the coconut lime sauce– which is typically served with the cakes(but not the sliders) and that did help. All in all– good, not memorable like the shrimp. Had a very unengaged server/bartender but the sweet gal working the bar WITH him made us feel welcomed and at home(thanks Cheyla– wish we could have tipped you instead). My wife didn’t love her cocktail(blue Hawaiian though I admit, she’s not a huge drinker) and I enjoyed my $ 4 beer just fine. Again happy hour pricing here. Would return dying happy hour for the shrimp for sure. Can’t weigh in on the dinners or the rest!

The Marriott was close to our hotel, and I’m a loyal Marriott gift card holder. I got some food to go a few times, and it didn’t always go smoothly. There was a long wait once, and no one could find the plastic silverware. The key lime pie was very good, and Longboards is a good option if you don’t want the full sit down experience on Ka’anapali. They did have a happy hour with some good deals, but I never made it there.

We stopped by here on our drink down ka’anapali beach trip. the bar was nothing too exciting — a couple other people were there and the bartender as well and it was good company, but it was more of like a sit and eat area bar kind of thing than a sit and drink kind of area. good though — i had a drink from the kona brewing company — it was delicious. my husband had something blue, it was also good.

Excellent service & great food! We sat on the patio area and enjoyed the comfortable weather and beautiful surrounding views. Shared a couple appetizer plates between 3 people and had 2 entrees. More than enough food. Their potatoes were delicious. The Ahi appetizer was bombbb!!! Best Ahi I’ve had.

Ate here twice while staying at Maui Ocean Club. Their coconut shrimp was fantastic. Daughter had the fish taco and I had a salad another time. All the food was good. Very relaxing, service was good, and live music was entertaining. I liked that this place wasn’t a mob scene like some of the other restaurants down at the Whalers Village shopping center. They don’t offer breakfast or lunch now as the Marriott grill is open again, at this time it is dinner only.

Longboards is part of the overall Marriott Ka’annapali Beach Club complex. We came for a late dinner and were seated quickly. It is nice to be right on Ka’annapali beach to hear the waves crashing, tiki torches and be able to gaze at the stars while having dinner. Service was friendly and fast. We ordered the sirloin and lobster. Both were just okay… A little too salty for my taste. This is a nice, relaxing atmosphere to enjoy a few brews and dinner.

Amazing location, right next to the beach, and sitting here at sunset is priceless. For that, this restaurant automatically gets at least 3 stars. Their Krazy Happy Hour takes place at the bar from 5pm to 6pm, but their Early Bird Special only lasts for 30 mins, from 5pm to 5:30pm, Mon-Thurs. If you succeed in walking in during this small window(we didn’t), you get a full course(salad, entrée and dessert) for $ 18. Not bad. We went for dinner and got chicken salads and teriyaki beef vegetable stir-fry. The food was alright; nothing to write home about. We need to go back once or twice to try other dishes, along with their $ 4 desserts. The location and the fun and lively ambiance are what made us want to go back. SUM: 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 for the breathtaking view of the sunset.

I have to say this place was my favorite at the Maui Ocean Club. get there from happy hour from 5 – 6 p.m. and try to get on the sand part in the front to watch the beautiful sunset! GREAT appetizers, good drinks… not that strong though. so minus star. and the first night we went there the poor waitress seemed new and couldn’t handle our big group of 12. but this place was really good priced food and drinks and the sunset view you can’t beat! :) Thank you Longboards! oh and there is sometimes a guy who plays guitar and if you are in a room above Longboards like we are, you can sit on the balcony and listen to him! :)
